Upon Your Fears.

Meeting her was a whole new feeling. Meeting her was upon his fears.

Thalassa's P.O.V.

"She's my cousin, Thali." He stated.
"Oh... right." I trailed awkwardly.

I smiled at him innocently, picking up my bowl. My cheeks heated, and I think it's the first time in my entire life I ever blushed. I was extremely embarrassed, but something made me doubt what he had confirmed. Why did his lips seem darker yesterday?

"Why did your lips seem darker?" I asked, confused.
"We ate spaghetti." He chuckled, shaking his head.

I was more than embarrassed. I nodded, scrunching my nose up as I walked backwards to the small kitchen. I placed my bowl in the sink, laughing at myself. I was such a dumb girl, but at the same time I doubted it, but you could see the amusement and truth in his eyes.

Walking back in the living room, I smiled at him once more, heading for my room. The atmosphere between the both of us was growing slightly more lighter, we had our strong moments, but it didn't mean we were in the argument phase.

I grinned briefly, deciding on taking a shower. Frowning, I thought about Jessie back home, she didn't seem worried much, that's probably because my mom told her. I couldn't have any sort of contact with anyone, even thought I spoke to my mother.

Showering felt good, it was something refreshing compared to the weather. Sadly, there wasn't hot water, so it got freezing eventually. Looking on the counter, I realized I brought Justin's sweater as PJ's. Chuckling, I knew I had to stop stealing his clothes.

After being dressed, I pulled my hair into a high, messy ponytail. I walked back in the living room, where Justin looked at me disbelievingly. He shook his head playfully at me, smirking to himself, which made him cute... kinda

"You have to stop stealing my clothes." He teased, rolling his eyes.
"In my defence, it's comfy." I stuck my tongue out childishly.
"Put some pants on, we're going out for a walk." He smiled, motioning to my bare legs.
"What?" I frowned. "I don't need pants! It's like a nice dress, look-"
"Thali." He narrowed his eyes, making me giggle.

I loved to mess with him, a habit of mine. I pulled on a pair of light washed coloured skinny jeans, matching it with his black hoodie. I pulled my black Roxy flip flops on, following him through the door, into the dark.

"Why take a walk this late?" I asked curiously, trudging by his side.
"I felt like it." He shrugged, snapping his gaze to me.

The atmosphere was silent, maybe a bit too much for my liking. We both walked, looking out in the distance. It was all too beautiful to be true. Rio could be an ugly place, but it also could be a beautiful scenario.

The sound of a branch snapping made me jump out of my skin, literally. I quickly looked around, Justin grabbing my wrist gently, placing me behind him. A tall silhouette appeared out of the blue, making my body tremble.

"The girl." He instructed, pointing his finger at me.
"Parker..." Justin trailed, raising his eyebrows suspiciously. "Where's the backup?"
"Extremely close." He smirked, stepping closer.

He was a real ugly man, and I hated to be rude, but he wasn't very... appealing. It seems like I had seen him somewhere, though. I peaked over Justin's arm, looking at the scene they were making. I held onto the back of his t-shirt tightly, my knuckles growing a white colour.

"She's beautiful, isn't she?" He murmured, looking at my small frame. "It would be a shame to slit her skin-"
"You won't." Justin interrupted, grumbling in anger.
"Are you sure there's just friendship between you two?" He smirked effortlessly, raising his eyebrows at me in the process. "It seems like otherwise, actually."

My heart sank, my thoughts running a marathon. After the truth being discovered about myself, I didn't even think twice about my feelings towards Justin. But as this man stepped in the picture, I felt like I was wrong all along.

"Hand her over." Parker gritted through his teeth, making me step even closer to him.
"Never." Justin spoke truthfully.
"Your heart will shatter, kid." He shook his head, looking at him dead in the eyes. "Because no matter what efforts you try to keep up with, we'll always find a way to break through your head, I'm always one step ahead."

Surprisingly, he left, my hands never leaving the hem of Justin's t-shirt. My forehead pressed against his muscled back, I breathed deeply, practically panting for some reason. His hands found my wrists, tugging them softly and taking my handfuls of his shirt to meet his soft ones.

Turning around, he kissed my forehead, rubbing my back soothingly. We walked back to the favela, my knees almost buckling at every step. I was clinging to Justin for my dear life, and for the first time in years... I felt weak.

I ended up sleeping with him that night, because sleeping alone didn't seem like an accurate thought running through my mind right now, it simply wasn't. I took my pants off, my fingers shaking like leaves in the wind.

My heart was thumping in my chest, reaching my ears. It was all I heard, simply because its rate wouldn't slow down, even thought half an hour had already passed. Sleeping in his arms was reassuring, like a safe place to me.

"It's all over." He whispered. "We're leaving tomorrow, don't worry."

It soothed me a little, but I was so shaken up I barely even processed the words leaving his mouth, because I processed who that man was. I believed I had known him for too long, and I can't believe I had ever thought about calling him into my house.

"It's Uncle Steve."
