7. Sparkle

Alone in the House's parking lot, I watched the door open and close and several people came and left. Like I did to Niall...

I guess it started in 4th grade when Niall and I were placed beside each other in our homeroom class. For a while he was extremely quiet, but once when he dropped his pencil, I picked it up for him. Stupidly, he had tried to spare me by picking it up as well. Both of us under the table, we reached for the pencil a the same time, only to touch hands and then look into eachother's eyes. As I was mesmerized by the deep blue of his, all he managed to say was, "Wow, I didn't know brown could sparkle like that,"

That day was just the beginning to a long line of friendship, and we got closer and closer as the years went by. By the time we were in eighth grade, word around school was that we were a couple. After a while, Niall began to think it was. Sometime down the road he started calling me his "girlfriend" and treat just like the title fit. And when I chose to set the record straight, it ended with a year-long absence of Niall's hugs, his smile, his eyes, just... Him.

I slapped myself back into the situation and started towards the door. Right upon entering, Niall was behind me in line. In a last effort attempt, I tried to make a bee-line to the bathroom.

As I ran away, Niall turned away from the register. My running foot caught his, and in a moment of fate I fell and all of my money went spilling to the floor. Seeing Niall bend down to help me, I brushed my hair over my face and rushed to pock up the money.

"Sorry about that," He said in his beautiful faint Irish accent.

We both reached for the last quarter and our hands met. His eyes cane up, in search of the eyes he always remembered. I slowly raised my head...

"Wow, your eyes never dim do they?"
