14. Road Trip: Part 1

I slipped on my sunglasses, finally able to see where we were going. Niall was beside me in his own pair, smiling and driving with one hand. Surprisingly, his flat bill hat had yet to fall off, even though he was going over 50.

"Niall, if you and Harry are in our grade, how do you have driver's licenses?" I asked.

"We don't. Just some active imaginations, dare-devil attitudes, some construction paper and a box of crayons," he laughed. Even though we could get pulled over anytime, Niall drove as though the beach were forever away.

The beautiful autumn sun was just bright enough to leave a small, twinkly complexion on the car. The blue paint glistened, just one shade darker the color of Niall's eyes, I noticed. All around us, surrounding cars pasted, and I wondered what problems those drivers had. Did they have an iffy relationship with their long-lost best friend? Did they almost have sex with them? Did their besties start dating some random guy who had planned on doing it? Were they on a date to the beach with the guy they'd once rejected?

     Were they in love?

A little down the road, Niall turned into some clothing store. "Here we go, maybe we could find you a bathing suit here,"

"And maybe I could dress you up, too?" I fooled around with him.

"That'll cost you extra, I already gave you the full show last night,"

Gah, I had missed this. Just being able to goof off with Niall, knowing there were no strings attached. For now, anyways.

Niall opened the door, and the bell hanging on the door chimed. Along with the screech from the door's bell, a girl somewhere far in the back shouted, "Welcome to Beach Bodies!"

Beginning to search for clothes, I ran my hands through a pile of men's wear until I found just what I needed.

"What about these?" I suggested to him, holding up a skimpy purple Speedo.

"Ha, yeah I'll try it on, if you try on this," He might as well had been holding up lingerie, with the lacy pink two-piece, "You saw my body last night, how about returning the favor?"

What did I have to lose? Maybe i could trick him...

"Deal, but you're going first!" i whined.

     "Alright... let's do it,"

I stood outside the dressing room, giggling at Niall's occasional comments.

"Okay, this hurts. I mean this ACTUALLY hurts, Lindsay," he whispered from inside the room.

"Come outside, you need some fresh air,"

"No, what I need is a full length swimsuit, a size or two larger," I could hear him struggling, and I couldn't help but laugh.

The door opened, and Niall walked out. Holding it in my hand, I hadn't realized how little it really covered. And hid...

"Well! Walk around in it!" I said.

"It's a speedo, not a pair of shoes!" Niall argued, trying to escape back into the fitting room. I grabbed his arm (his bicep, to be specific) and pulled him back into the open.

"Come on, walk around in it, and then I'll do my part,"

Niall caved, and began to walk away. I couldn't help but notice how well it complemented his... ya know...

Then, Niall shouted, "You'll never catch me alive!" He took off running down the isle, making a steep turn at the end of the store.

"Oh, no you don't!" I broke into a sprint after him, as the song from Ferris Builer's Day Off played in my head. Turning the corner, I watched as Niall turned to look back at me. I focused on the way his shoulders curved, how his back muscles perfectly flexed with every step. Niall tuned yet another corner, right as the store clerk came from the back of the store... And collided with Niall.

He let an oompf, landing hard on the floor in front of the blonde.

"Wow, I bet that didn't feel any better in a speedo, did it?" the worker said, giggling and helping Niall up.

"Well, it sure didn't help my chance of ever having children," Niall stood, covering himself as best he could.

"Oh my gosh, I am so sorry. We really shouldn't have been running," I apologized, handing Niall some slip on short from the nearby rack.

"No, no, don't apologize! I never get fun people in here! Just last week this couple from Maryland came, stayed to try on souvenirs for an hour, and left buying nothing," she said.

"Well, if 'You break it, you buy it' comes into play, I'm pretty sure you owe me a couple hundred dollars for my ass!" Niall joked, playfully pushing away the girl.

I stood there, watching as some random girl flirted with him. I was just some third wheel.

"Well, stranger, I have no clue who you are, but I was only able to see the front display when you ran over me. So until I get proof, I'm not paying for anything," the blonde flipped her hair out of her eyes and grinned at Niall.

"Well, the name's Niall, and you've seen enough to hold you over for a few days..." Niall left off his sentence.

"Brooke. Nice to meet you and your purple swimsuit." Niall burst with laughter.

"Well, if you need anything, or someone to headbutt again, you know who to call," Brooke joked, shaking Niall's hand a little too friendly.

"That's okay, I got a personal consultant," he said, looking in my direction. A little of my pride was restored, but Niall could still see I was still pretty pissed.

"Well, looks like you've hired a good one. Bye!" Brooke walked back into the supply closet.

Niall turned, and could tell by my expression I was not a happy camper. He walked towards me, winked and said, "So, about our deal?"

I scoured my mind for a snap and finally decided on one- "How about asking Brooke? I'm sure she'd be more than happy to try on anything for you,"

I stormed away, and before I left blurted out, "Get your pants,"
