My Special Protector

Megan is a girl living in New York City. She's been lost in a crazy world since she was 14. Her parents divorced, her twin brother died, the one person she trusted left her. Now, she doesn't know what to do. One guy may be able to help her out. Just maybe...

2. I'm Gone

Once I got inside my bedroom I quickly closed my door and locked it. I could hear her coming down the hallway yelling at me but I didn't pay any attention.

I read the card David had left on the flowers. Of course, he left his phone number on it. I left it on my dresser and snatched my phone from my bed. I shook as I dialed his number into the phone. It seemed like eternity passed waiting for him to answer and I could still here my mother screaming at me from the other side of the door.

Finally he answered, "I knew you'd find that pretty fast."

I laughed slightly, "Yup. Okay now seriously David, get me out of here."

"Check outside your window babygirl."

I walked over to the window and saw his red Cobra on the side of the road about a block away from my house. "I'll be there in a minute. Okay?"

"Alright. I'll wait."

With that I ended the call and grabbed my school bag, dumping all my homework out of it and throwing in my phone/iPod charger, a few changes of clothes and a hair brush. I put my hair up in a ponytail and walked to the window. Opening it, I through my bag to the ground. I put my earphones and my iPod in my pocket and climbed out the window.

Dropping to the ground, I picked my bag up and ran. It took me about 3 minutes to get into the car and by then, I could hear my mother yelling at me from the door of the house. Before I got it, I took one last look at her and flipped her off. I was so gone.

Climbing into the car, I smiled at David. He smiled back, started the car and drove away. For a moment it was silent until I looked at him and asked, "So, where are we going?"

"Well, I live in NYC now so I guess you'll be living there with me and my roommate." He answered with a slight hardness in voice as he said roommate.

"Oh. Please tell me its a guy... I am done with girls. All they are is drama."

David laughed and nodded, "Yes it is a guy. He's cool I guess. About your age actually. He's kind of a troublemaker though. Couldn't stay out of trouble if his own life depended on it."

"What's his name?"

"Uhh.... Christian something.... I don't remember." He said frowning.

"He's your roommate. How can you NOT know his name?"

"Like I pay attention. Lets think about who you're talking to babygirl."

I laughed and leaned over to his stereo. I flipped it to CDs and started playing music from Hollywood Undead. David and I both knew every word to every song ever made by them. This was how I felt it was supposed to be. My cousin and I against the world. Just like it used to be.
