The Onlooker

Just a little something I've been working on.

1. The Onlooker

Tears chas'd their raindrop path

A mile over his newsprint cheek.

World began and ended

In crystallised moment of

Anguish

And I looked on.

Worse than crack'd the mirror was-

Shards scattered a thousand fold.

Seven years affliction half begun

Without reflection

And I looked on.

Stale streaked hope's promise-

Just as well a puddle as a downpour

In mischief-makers' doubting season

Still I looked on

Two halves snapped clean adrift

Crumbs strewn for mouths of artful scavengers.

Yes- I looked on.

I saw Fate laugh... and did nothing.
