5. Liam

I stepped out of the bus and rushed into the school; I had to find Louis. I ran into the corridors and found him near his locker as usual.

“Hey!” he exclaimed when he saw me getting closer. “I haven’t seen you since the beginning of the prom; what happened?” he chuckled. I didn’t need to explain him; he was clever enough to understand what happened.

“Have you seen her today?” I asked him nervously. He shook his head, “her locker is over there but she didn’t come; I didn’t see her this morning. But I heard two of her friend talking.” I tightened his forearm, begging him to explain me quickly what they had said.

“They said she was sick so she wouldn’t come at school today.” I opened my eyes wide but Louis shrugged his shoulders, not understanding what this was meaning. She wasn’t sick; it was a lie. It must be because of Liam; she hadn’t answered any of my texts last night.

The bell rang and Louis walked away; we weren’t in the same form.

“Louis, wait!” I grabbed his arm and dragged him back. “Do you know who told them she was sick?” I muttered sharply.

“One of them said that it was what Liam had told her.” He stared at me with a peculiar look and moved toward his class. I knew it; it was because of Liam. Does it mean he found out? How? I thought he was at a training session yesterday; that’s what Sameerah said!

The second bell rand and I ran to my classroom, still wondering what could have happened.

The rest of the day went by quickly and it soon was time to get back home. I was worrier than ever; I needed to know what happened to her, what Liam had told her. I joined Louis in the corridor and we walked toward his car; he talked to me about his class and I tried to forget about Liam; she might be sick after all.

We were out of the building when I felt someone’s hand on my shoulder. I turned around and found myself facing Liam; his arms crossed on his chest and looking nastily at me. Though I was taller than him, he remained more frightening.

“We have to talk,” he said sharply. Behind him his two best friends, Zayn and Niall, were laughing quietly; Liam wasn’t really intending to talk with me.

“What if I don’t want to?” I shrugged my shoulders and walked away. I knew what Liam was about to do and I didn’t want to start a fight with him.

“I give you no choice,” he replied and I heard him moved toward me. “I’ll make it short, then. I don’t want you to see my sister ever again; don’t you dare come close to her or you will regret it,” he threatened me.

I was about to answer but Louis spoke before I could open my mouth, “Leave him alone. He can do whatever he wants to. He doesn’t need your permission.” Louis has always been braver than me.

Liam turned around and walked toward Louis. He grabbed him by his shirt and muttered, “That is none of your business but it seems you want to get involved; it was at your own risk.” A smirk appeared on his face as he made a sign to Niall and Zayn to get closer. They did so and Liam handed them Louis.

“This one deserves the same treatment than his friend.” They nodded and smiled devilishly while Liam crossed his arms on his chest, looking forward to what was going to happen.

“What...” I started my sentence but I couldn’t finish it as the two guy started to hit Louis as hard as they could. One of them was holding him while the other one was kicking him.

I couldn’t stand seeing that. I dropped my bag and rushed toward them. I released Louis from Niall’s grip and slapped the two of them as hard as I could. I had never felt so angry in my life; they had no right to harm my best friend. The latter was lying on the ground, unconscious, and his face was bleeding.

Afterwards, I walked toward Liam who didn’t seem to be afraid of me. If Louis was in that state it was because of him; he had to pay for that. I kicked him in his stomach making him wince; but a few seconds later his fist was against my nose. I felt blood flowing down my face.

I was about to rush toward him again but I heard someone yell behind me. I slowly turned around and saw the headmaster walking toward us, anger written all over his face; with two policemen by his side; it wasn’t a good sign.

“You shouldn’t have turned around, “I heard Liam’s voice in my ear.

Then, I felt a throbbing pain in my stomach and everything went black.
