Always and Never

Ariel Tanner believed that love was nothing but an illusion, a sick prank your brain pulls on you. But when she meets Harry Styles she begins to question everything she has put together about love. This frustrating boy was the only truly genuine person she'd ever met. How someone like him could even exist blew her mind. Harry, on the other hand, was amazed at how closed off Ariel acted. He made it his mission to knock down the walls she'd built around herself, because behind the flirting and the sarcasm, he got a glimpse of a girl that he wanted to become as close as humanly possible to. But did he really want to know everything behind those walls?

47. Scarlet

How do I look?” I asked, stepping out of the bathroom. Tonight was our date with Kate and Scarlet. I stumbled on my walk across the bedroom, not yet used to my impossibly tall heels. Damn these hurt. Kate picked them out, so naturally I was going to wear them; despite the pain. I had on the same purple dress that I wore on Harry and I's first date. The tight purple one. This time it seemed even shorter, because my heels boosted me up so far.

“You look beautiful. Stunning.” He grinned. I wobbled over to him, he caught me by my arms, chuckling in the process. I blushed lightly as straightened myself out. I took a fistful of his blazer on each side, pulling him toward me. Our noses touched, and I grinned.

“You look pretty fly yourself, Styles.” I commented, giving his blazer a small tug. It was a very pretty blue color. Dark, like the British flag. His t-shirt underneath was a plain white, a few tips of tattoos were visible peeking out over his collar, and the ones on his wrists as well. Not much, still very formal looking.

“Oh, I do try.” He smirked, leaning in to kiss me. His lips only brushed mine. I pulled away quickly.

“I'm wearing lip-gloss. And I'd rather not ruin it before dinner even starts.” I grinned. When I walked away this time I was much more balanced.

“Do you have to wear it?” He whined.

“Yes. You'll live, you only have to wait until afterward to get that kiss.” I rolled my eyes, getting a diamond necklace off our dresser and clipping it around my neck. I got my purse and slung it around my body, then I turned to Harry.

“Ready.” I smiled. Harry came over and held out his hand for me to take. I took it gladly, using him for support down the stairs. He drove, finding the restaurant easily. It was a Greek place. One that I've never been to. And it looked very sophisticated... Not the most comfortable environment- in my opinion. But if it was what Kate wanted I was cool with it.

Kate was waiting outside, wearing a beautiful green dress. It flowed down to her knees. Harry supported me by putting an arm around my waist as we walked. Where was Scarlet? Kate had heels just as high as mine on, but she had no trouble walking in them. She hurried over to hug me.

“You look beautiful!” I smiled.

“You too! Scarlet is inside, confirming our reservation.” She smiled at Harry and I.

“Haha, you two are the same height now.” She laughed. Harry and I turned to face each other, and grinned. We were. He tightened his arm around my waist, and we followed Kate into the restaurant. A tall woman stood inside, smiling at us when we entered. Kate went up to her and took her hand. Scarlet.

She had long, wavy, strawberry blonde hair. She wore a pale pink dress that went down about mid-thigh, with tall white high heels. She was intimidatingly gorgeous.

“Hello Scarlet, I'm Ariel.” I smiled, shaking her hand.

“And I'm Harry.” Harry grinned, shaking her hand as well.

“I've heard all about you two. The pictures I've seen really don't do you justice.” Scarlet laughed. Her voice was musical, almost. She was American.

“Your table is ready.” A man said behind Harry and I. Kate and Scarlet followed him and we did the same. Kate seemed so happy. It was amazing.

"Where did you two meet?" I asked at one point in our meal.

"We're both studying cosmetology, and this woman accidentally booked us both as makeup artists for her daughter." Scarlet grinned. I should have known, only an expert could have done her makeup. And the expert was herself!

"It was her wedding. I ended up working on the bride and Scar offered to do the bridesmaids." Kate continued.

"Afterward we went out for lunch and just kind of hit it off..." Scarlet finished. They sent each other a shy smile, and I grinned. Fate is real.

The double date was a lot of fun. We laughed and ate and told stories... Scarlet seemed like a great woman. Those two were the perfect match. I couldn't be happier for them...
