Always and Never

Ariel Tanner believed that love was nothing but an illusion, a sick prank your brain pulls on you. But when she meets Harry Styles she begins to question everything she has put together about love. This frustrating boy was the only truly genuine person she'd ever met. How someone like him could even exist blew her mind. Harry, on the other hand, was amazed at how closed off Ariel acted. He made it his mission to knock down the walls she'd built around herself, because behind the flirting and the sarcasm, he got a glimpse of a girl that he wanted to become as close as humanly possible to. But did he really want to know everything behind those walls?

I looked back out the window, only to have Harry make me face him again.

“I'm sorry Ariel. I didn't mean to insult you. I didn't know...” He apologized. His arm extended halfway toward me, but when I flinched away he pulled it back, looking slightly hurt.

“It's fine, I don't tell anyone about my life.” I replied. It may sound sad, if you think about it too hard, but it was simply a fact about me. Nothing special.

“You can tell me.” He insisted, trying to comfort me.

“No, I really can't.” I shook my head. No one wanted to know, and I didn't want to admit to most of it... We pulled back onto the road while I waited for him to reply.

“I'm open to just listen anytime, anywhere. I don't even have to comment or anything, if you have to vent, call me.” He offered, more serious than he's been since I've known him. I smiled at the windshield.

“Maybe I'll take you up on that.” I said. A lie. I won't.

“I'll wait for your call.” He smiled, happy with himself for cheering me up. My jaw dropped when he began pulling into the driveway of one of the biggest houses I've ever seen.

“Whoa...” I breathed.

“Is it okay?” He asked. How could he possibly use the word 'okay' to describe this palace??

“Okay? It's incredible!” I answered in awe. I followed him when he got out of the car. He had 4 locks on the front door, all with different keys.

“Paranoid much?” I teased.

“Maybe a little bit, Georgia Rose.” He grinned, unlocking the last lock and opening the door for me.

“Touche...” I replied. He laughed. I suppose I couldn't tease him for being paranoid, could I?

I was blown away when I stepped in, if it wasn't for the dirty clothes and stuff everywhere I would have thought I just walked into a movie.

“Sorry about the mess... The lads were over yesterday.” He murmured.

“I don't mind.” I laughed, looking around and soaking in every detail. We stood in the entryway, which led to a huge living room. I walked slowly into the large room. There were 3 couches and a lay-z-boy chair near the wall, facing a huge TV that was attached to a DVD player, a Wii, and an x-box.

“Did you win the lottery?” I questioned.

“In a way...” He sighed quietly. I totally forgot, he's Harry Styles.

“Wait! You're Harry Styles! I knew that name rung a bell! You're famous for something...” I mused, trying to remember. It was on the tip of my tongue! Harry looked embarrassed.

“I'm in a band...” He responded.

I grinned, “One Direction.”

“I don't want you to think of me as Harry Styles from One Direction though. I'm Harry Edward Styles, from Holmes Chapel, England.” He gave me a speech that sounded like it'd been given before.

“You already decided I liked you enough when I forgot you were in a band. Remember that conversation?” I smirked. Him being famous didn't change my feelings toward him at all, in fact it gave me something to tease him about.

“Yeah, I do.” He smiled, relaxing.

“Don't think for a minute I'm going to give you special treatment, because you're famous.” I smirked.

“I wouldn't want you too.” He grinned.

“May I?” I questioned, pointing toward a doorway with a staircase going up behind it.

“Be my guest.” He motioned to it. I grinned as I made my way toward the staircase. Harry followed silently behind me, letting me have my fun. I sped up the stairs and down the hall, opening each door a crack to peek inside. A few bedrooms, and a bathroom. At the end of the hall there was a sliding glass door that led to a big deck.

I opened the door, stepping out in awe. It was a well taken care of wooden deck, it had a grill in the corner and a table in the middle. Around the outsides, near the edges, there were a few couch swings. While I stood there, unmoving, Harry went and sat on one of the swings. I eventually followed, sitting beside him.

“So we came for breakfast...” He trailed off.

“I'm not that hungry.” I shrugged.

“What about dessert?” He said playfully in my ear. I turned my head away and laughed.

“Cute, but you'll have to do better than that.” I rolled my eyes. He moved my hair over to one shoulder, pressed his lips to the base of my neck, then rested his head there. His hot breath touched my skin. My eyes fluttered shut as I leaned into him.

“Really? I don't get a kiss?” He asked, his tone of voice lower, raspier.

“Persuade me.” I grinned, unphased. Harry pulled me into his lap, planting kisses on my cheeks and nose. I held in a giggle.

“I'm sure you're an amazing kisser.” He said, resting his lips on the corner of my mouth.

“You'll have to wait to test that theory.” I chuckled, jumping up and running from him. I stood in the doorway, turning to face him only for a moment. He sat looking shocked in the swing by himself, his arms suddenly empty.

“If you can catch me, you can have your kiss.” I winked, turning back to the door and running down the hall. I sped down the staircase hearing quick steps behind me. I made it to the living room and was looking for a place to hide when a strong pair of arms wrapped around me.

A combination of a giggle and a scream left my mouth as Harry pulled me into his chest. He sat me down on the couch, and looked at me, like he was trying to decide what angle to come from. Maybe he was just messing with me. No matter though. I laughed delightedly as I got up and ran again, this time back up the stairs, but I only got halfway when he grabbed me again.

“You're a trouble maker.” He chuckled, carrying me back down to the couch, fireman style. He sat down next to me this time. He smirked as he ran his hand down my cheek and neck. I caught it when it got to my collarbone. A lighthearted laugh escaped his lips. Harry leaned in slowly, softly pressing his lips to mine.

The bolt of... electricity, that I felt took me completely off guard. I've never, ever, felt that before. I mean, kissing was always fun, but not like this... Harry felt it too, I knew because we both jumped back, staring into each others eyes. Our lips parted in surprise. There was an unspoken communication between us. He's never felt that before either. We didn't even smile, we just sat there, wide eyed for a few seconds, before he leaned in again. This time faster, eager. Hasty almost, like he didn't want to waste time.

He kissed me passionately, well, as passionate as you could be with someone you only just met. The electric came again. Before I knew it I fell back, Harry ending up on top of me, not willing to break the kiss. We lost track of time, of our surroundings, of everything. The only thing I was aware of was Harry. I could have kissed him forever, but we were interrupted by a voice.

“Whoa, sorry Haz, we didn't know you had a girl over...” A boy's voice came from near us. We broke apart, both breathing faster than normal. Harry removed himself from me, the two of us sitting up on the couch. I delicately touched my lips with my fingertips, where the electric lingered. When I finally looked up I saw 4 boys standing there, staring at us...
