Always and Never

Ariel Tanner believed that love was nothing but an illusion, a sick prank your brain pulls on you. But when she meets Harry Styles she begins to question everything she has put together about love. This frustrating boy was the only truly genuine person she'd ever met. How someone like him could even exist blew her mind. Harry, on the other hand, was amazed at how closed off Ariel acted. He made it his mission to knock down the walls she'd built around herself, because behind the flirting and the sarcasm, he got a glimpse of a girl that he wanted to become as close as humanly possible to. 18. Interview

“Have fun.” I smiled at all of them as they walked out on stage. Harry sent me a wink, which made my heart flutter a bit faster. I watched as they plastered on smiles, and the crowd lost it. Those girls are not going to be happy that Harry is officially taken...

“Hello boys, I haven't seen you in a while.” The host grinned as they spread themselves out on the two couches. Various hello's came from the boys.

“So how's your time off been.” Mr. Host asked.

“Very relaxing. Fun.” Niall answered.

“Good, good. When are you boys going to get on the road again?” Mr. Host asked.

“A few months, we're not really sure at the moment. We have some recording to do and dates to set...” Liam said.

“You'll let me know when you figure it all out?” Mr Host whispered loudly. Again, different forms of agreements came from each of the lads.

“Now we have some fan questions for you.” Mr Host said loudly, gesturing to a screen behind him.

“What's your favorite song off the Take Me Home album?” Mr Host read.

“I'd have to say Last First Kiss.” Louis answered.

“Summer Love, probably.” Harry nodded.

“I love all of them.” Mr. Host grinned, then read again, “How are all your relationships going, you are each so cute with your girlfriends.” “From what I've heard, Zayn, and Louis are taken...” He added. (A/N I wrote this fanfic before Sophia was in the picture, and there are more parts I'd have to change if I added her in so I decided to just let Liam be single. Thanks for reading! -Xx) Harry raised his hand slightly, a cheeky grin appearing on his face.

“Me too.” Harry said proudly. The crowd screamed a bit before the host could calm them down again.

“And this is new?” Mr. Host asked.

“You're the first to know.” Harry nodded.

“What's her name? What is she like? How long have you known each other?” The host prodded.

“Her name is Ariel, we've known each other for a little over a week, and she is absolutely incredible...” He answered, grinning over at me just in time to see my cheeks turn red.

“Is that her back there?” Mr Host smiled at me. Oh no. He wouldn't.

“Yes.” Harry nodded.

“Would she like to come out here?” Mr Host suggested. I began to panic.

“No no no no no no no. I mouthed frantically. Harry's eyes suddenly sparked with mischief.

“Well...” He trailed off, not breaking our eye contact. My eyes widened as I shook my head. He knew that I didn't want to be on camera!! He would not say yes. Harry hesitated for my sake, just to let me panic a little longer.

“No, she told me earlier she didn't want to be on camera.” He finally finished. I breathed out a heavy sigh of relief. All the lads laughed quietly at my reaction.

Not funny.” I mouthed, which only caused them to laugh harder. I watched the rest of the 20 minute interview, laughing at how weird they all were. The crowd cheered once again as they left the stage. I got up and followed them to meet the security guards at the exit. A guard followed each of us to our cars as fans gathered around. Harry smiled for pictures and signed a few things that people shoved at him before we got into the car. The friendly guard ushered people back as Harry drove us away.

“You are loved...” I muttered. That 'l' word triggered something in my brain, suddenly the stress hit me like a brick wall.

“I know, they're amazing.” He smiled, looking proud.

“Can we stop at a fill station real quick?” I asked, my leg suddenly bouncing with anxiety.

“Yeah I guess, why?” He asked. We both eyed the same station coming up.

“I just need to get something real quick...” I answered. He pulled in, looking like he was trying to figure out my request. I jumped out and ran into the station. I bought myself a bag of Goldfish crackers. They were my comfort food, I liked to eat them when I was stressed. I got back in the car quickly, where Harry waited.

“You went in for crackers?” He smirked as I opened the package.

“I like Goldfish...” I shrugged. I ate some on the drive home, Harry came in with me as I got ready for work...

“Why were you so frantic to get Goldfish earlier?” He asked, smirking but still curious.

“They're comfort food.” I shrugged as I brushed through my damp hair. It was probably a bad habit to get into, eating Goldfish when I was stressed, but I didn't care.

“Why did you have to be comforted?” He asked. Damn. Busted.

“I think it was the stress from earlier, I didn't have any Goldfish this morning so my craving must be trying to make up for that. I don't really know.” I answered smoothly, offering a small shrug.

“Women are strange creatures...” He shook his head.

“I don't understand either. And men are just as complex as woman.” I argued.

“I seriously disagree. Haven't you ever heard the phrase, 'Man is a simple creature'?” He smirked.

“I think men just say women are more complicated than them to make themselves seem better.” I said.

“You don't have to worry about being confusing, it's not a bad thing. Most of the time it's kind of fun.” He grinned.

“So you enjoy studying and trying to figure me out like some science fair project?” I challenged.

“No! That's not what I meant!” He stammered now, thinking I was angry with him. I burst out laughing as he sat there, searching his brain for the right words.

“I'm not mad. I was seeing how you'd react, you're funny when you're flustered.” I laughed, getting my purse and slinging it across my body.

“You only proved my point!” He insisted. I raised my eyebrows at him. He laughed nervously. “Never mind, uh, how'd I do on your little test?” He asked.

“C minus.” I answered.

“Damn but I've studied so hard...” He couldn't stop the grin from spreading across his face. I chuckled as we walked out the door together. When we got to the parking lot it came time to part ways. Before we went to our cars I turned to face him. My lips were instantaneously on his. The breathtaking charge ran through us, making me forget. I didn't care about anything, in that moment. It was Harry and I. Nothing else, I loved it. I loved-... That thought made me stop short. Harry felt my hesitation, and stepped back to look at me.

“What's wrong?” He asked.

“Nothing. I just think I'm going to be late...” I bit my lip, suddenly craving Goldfish again. He sighed quietly. He didn't want to leave, and I didn't want him to.

“I'll call you tomorrow.” He promised, pressing his lips to my forehead before leaving me to stand there by myself. I walked, slightly off balance to my car, and drove myself to work, prepared for a boring three hours...
