Always and Never

Ariel Tanner believed that love was nothing but an illusion, a sick prank your brain pulls on you. But when she meets Harry Styles she begins to question everything she has put together about love. This frustrating boy was the only truly genuine person she'd ever met. How someone like him could even exist blew her mind. Harry, on the other hand, was amazed at how closed off Ariel acted. He made it his mission to knock down the walls she'd built around herself, because behind the flirting and the sarcasm, he got a glimpse of a girl that he wanted to become as close as humanly possible to. But did he really want to know everything behind those walls?

26. Glasses

I felt silly as I put my hair up into a ponytail the next morning, and put on the dress and my old glasses. Before my dad died I never wore contacts, but now I only wore my glasses if absolutely necessary, which was not very often. They had thin black rectangle rims. The dress I wore went down to my ankles, it consisted of a blue and purple rose pattern. Thank god it was sleeveless otherwise I may have died from heat stroke. I looked like the stereotypical straight A, book worm. I put Harry's outfit in a plastic bag and got in my car, grinning to myself as I went to pick him up. His eyes widened when he opened the door.

“Ariel?” He asked, judging by his face he was taken completely off guard. I laughed, nodding as I walked past him into his house.

“What are you wearing?” His eyes raked me up and down.

“Just a little something I picked up last night for our date. It's sexy, isn't it?” I smirked. I looked at him over the rims of my glasses, winking. Though, I couldn't see his reaction until I looked through them completely. He looked dazed. Hell, if I could make this work I can make anything work.

“Uh, as strange as it may sound, very. Where are we going then?” He questioned.

“I'll explain in a minute, but first you have to put this on.” I grinned, handing him the bag of clothes. He began stripping off in his living room.

“Whoa whoa whoa what are you doing?” I smirked at him. He was now standing there trouser-less.

“It's my house.” He grinned, pulling off his shirt as well. I rolled my eyes and began tapping my foot as I waited, looking around the room. He raised his eyebrows at me as he held up the clothes.

“Come on Harry, we haven't got all day.” I prodded. He shook his head at me as he got dressed.

“Wow okay. Now I'm really curious.” He chuckled as he put on his fake glasses that took up half his face. I laughed, walking over and helping him tuck in his dress shirt. He finished it off by putting on the sweater vest.

“You've got to be kidding me.” He laughed.

“You look quite sharp Mr. Styles.” I giggled.

“Where did you even find clothes like these??” He laughed again as he found his way to the mirror in one of his huge washrooms.

“This may come as a shock to you, but not all guys dress in skinny jeans and t-shirts.” I teased “You've got to do your hair so that no one will no you're, you. Here.” I said before he could reply, standing up on my tip toes and parting his hair on the side, then slicking both sides back with some hair gel I'd brought, just in case. It was just like how my dad used to do his hair.

“Beautiful.” I laughed. He took another look in the mirror.

“Ha! Who knew the school nerd could be so hot?” He smirked. I rolled my eyes again, laughing lightly. He removed my glasses and ran off with them, trying to be playful.

“Hey!” I exclaimed.

“Come and get them Love.” I heard him laugh. I hesitated for a second. I can't see! There's no way I can chase him and get my glasses back.

“Okay, uh Harry... Mine are real, I'm blind right now.” I stumbled around, my hands out in front of me so that I didn't run into anything. I was really hoping that I wouldn't've have to admit that.

“Really?” A voice said beside me, a lot closer than I'd expected. I jumped, startled.

“Yes I need those to see.” I nodded, staring at the tall blob that must be Harry. I felt my cheeks begin to turn red. He placed my glasses gently back on my face. I adjusted them, then smiled up at Harry, blush beginning to spread in my cheeks. He wasn't supposed to know that those are real...

“So, you're actually that sexy, dorky girl. You're not as bad ass as you make your self seem.” He grinned.

“Neither are you Styles. If you want to talk about who's actually a huge dork I could go on all day.” I smirked.

“Ouch! Ha, I guess you're right. Now, you're not doing a very good job getting me out of the house, I know I make it look easy, but it's not.” He smirked back.

“I never put up a fight about leaving with you, you're the difficult one.” I snickered.

“Me? The difficult one? Please!” He scoffed.

“That's what I'm saying! I'd argue further, but we're going to be late.” I said, glancing at the clock. He smirked, he thinks I'm making up excuses to end the conversation. Which is not at all what I'm doing.

“Okay sweetheart, lets go.” He snickered. I waited while he locked up the house. We got in the car, and I saw Harry hesitate before he got in the passenger seat. This must be weird for him, not knowing. I drove past my apartment building, and down a few blocks to the parade of homes.

“We're buying a house on our date? I normally wouldn't do this with a girl unless we were married or something but if your into it...” Harry teased when he saw the signs.

“No, I thought it would be funny if we acted like some couple looking for a house. We can pretend I'm pregnant and be super picky about everything.” I shrugged. “Here.” I said when I parked, shoving a ring at him. “That was my dad's, and the one I'm wearing was my grandmothers. Be careful with it.” I said, and got out of the car before he could say anything.

“Okay, this will be interesting. Tell me more about my character.” He smirked.

“Uh... Make up a fake name, you could use your middle name- that's what I'm doing. You're obviously some computer geek who's married to the most amazing girl ever, me, Rachel.” I grinned.

“Edward and Rachel. We're pregnant with our first daughter, Darcy, and we're looking for a nice house.” He recapped, adding the kid part.

"Your middle name is Edward?" I mused, getting distracted.

"Yes." He smirked, not seeing where I was going.

"I'm sure you don't know this, but I am a big Twihard... Team Edward." I grinned.

"Well, isn't that just perfect?" He rolled his eyes.

“Very, now, back to the matter at hand, just have fun. Criticize everything and try not to laugh.” I bit my lip to keep myself from giggling.

“Okay! Let's go babe!” He exclaimed, making his voice higher and... American sounding...

"American?? I didn't know you could do an American accent!" I laughed.

"I have many hidden talents." He replied, keeping up the fake voice. I giggled again as I towed him out the door. It was gonna be really hard not to laugh during this date.

We walked up to the first house, pretending to admire the outside.

“Hello! Are you two new buyers?” A friendly looking woman with very big hair smiled at the two of us.

“Yes! We are! We're looking for a nice place to raise the baby.” Harry said, placing his hand on my stomach and smiling at me. I smiled back, trying to make it look loving instead of amused.

“Oh! How wonderful! I'm Veronica, and I will be showing you around all 10 of the houses we have up for sale today. This one happens to be my personal favorite.” She smiled.

“I'm Rachel, and this is my husband, Edward.” I said. It pretty much went downhill from there... Harry and I tried to be picky about every little thing, even though each house was actually completely amazing. By the third house the woman figured us out. We'd cracked up one to many times.

“Are you two a serious couple wanting to buy a house or are you just wasting my time?” She narrowed her eyes at us.

“Well shit...” Harry laughed quietly in my ear.

“Oh, look at the time, this was all truly amazing, thank you. But, uh, neither of us are employed so we can't buy a house... Good bye.” I said quickly, turning swiftly around with Harry following me out of the house. We ran to the car, laughing the entire time.

“Okay, you're a pretty good date planner.” He smiled at me as I drove us away, back to his place.

“Haha thanks, but mine still aren't as spontaneous as yours.” I laughed.

“I don't know, dressing up and pretending to be a couple looking at houses? That's not exactly normal...” He smirked.

“Have you ever wondered if that is my goal?” I quoted him. He laughed.

“I suppose I didn't. That's very smart of you.” He complimented.

“Ha! Okay, thanks a million curly.” I scoffed. He chuckled as I pulled into his driveway. When we went inside he got dressed back in the clothes he had on earlier.

“Wow, you have more trouble getting on your jeans than I do.” I teased before I went up to his room to get clothes for myself. That sounded so weird. I could completely change outfits at his house, and I didn't even think to pack extra clothes. It never even crossed my mind.

So wrong....
