Always and Never

Ariel Tanner believed that love was nothing but an illusion, a sick prank your brain pulls on you. But when she meets Harry Styles she begins to question everything she has put together about love. This frustrating boy was the only truly genuine person she'd ever met. How someone like him could even exist blew her mind. Harry, on the other hand, was amazed at how closed off Ariel acted. He made it his mission to knock down the walls she'd built around herself, because behind the flirting and the sarcasm, he got a glimpse of a girl that he wanted to become as close as humanly possible to. But did he really want to know everything behind those walls?

55. Dress

"I still can't believe it." I sighed, glancing at my left hand, which was being used to steer my car. Kate sat in the passenger seat. We were on our way to some big bridal shop in London. Our second one of the day. Kate had promised to let me keep the dress I choose at her place, so that Harry was sure not to peek.

"I can." She grinned.

"Really? You thought Ariel Tanner would get engaged at 19?" I raised my eyebrows at her while we sat at a traffic light.

"Well... I don't know... I just knew that it was bound to happen since you met Harry. If you'd danced with one of those other guys at the club that night, then no, I would have never expected this." She elaborated.

"I guess that makes sense. Imagine, if I hadn't danced with Harry I still wouldn't believe in love. I wouldn't have spoken to my mother. I definitely wouldn't be engaged, and there's no way I would be so... happy." I said, marveling at how that boy really has changed my life... And only within the course of a couple months.

"I know, you're a completely different person. I think I like this Ariel better though, no offense." She grinned.

"None taken." I laughed as I parked in front of a massive building who's windows were filled with manikins modeling white dresses.

"This is kinda terrifying..." I mumbled, mostly to myself. But Kate still heard me.

"I'm right by your side babe, lets go find you the most beautiful wedding dress ever!" She exclaimed, hopping out of the car.

"Yeah, no pressure or anything." I said under my breath. This time she didn't hear me. I followed her, my palms were slick with nervous sweat. Why was I nervous? Honestly I was a little worried that the older women in there would judge me for being so young. They'd probably assume I'm pregnant or something. I saw the way the people in the last store were looking at me...

"Hello! How can I help you two beautiful young ladies today?" An overly friendly woman standing at the front of the shop greeted us. She had shoulder length grey hair, and her makeup was a little overdone. She looked to be about 50. I smiled sheepishly at her.

"I, uh, need a wedding dress." I said. Wasn't that fact kind of obvious?

"Oh, that shouldn't be a problem. May I see the ring?" She asked, her smile widened. I held out my left hand to her. I saw her eyes widen slightly.

"Wow, that's quite the ring! Now, dear, what were you thinking for a dress. Sleeves or strapless? Long or we have a few shorter numbers that you could look at if you wanted..." The woman asked, motioning for Kate and I to follow her into the shop. Well... I didn't know I was supposed to have an idea before hand. No one asked us any questions at the first shop, and up until a few days ago I didn't think I'd ever get married...

"Um, I haven't really given it much thought, but I think I'd go with strapless." I answered. I shot Kate a slightly panicked look. She smiled reassuringly.

"We can start with that. We have a large variety of dresses, even just here in our strapless section." She said, stopping in front of 4 long rows of dresses. Kate let out a low whistle. You could say there was a variety...

"Do you have any suggestions?" I asked, unsure where to start. The woman's eyes raked up and down my body a few times before she answered.

"For your body type I would suggest that you look through the third rack, there." She said, pointing at it. I nodded, heading over to it. The woman left Kate and I alone while we rifled through dresses. Every one was very beautiful, but none that I saw really caught my attention...

"Ariel! Look at this one!" Kate exclaimed, struggling to get a dress off the rack. I waited patiently. I was filled with hope that she'd found one that I'd actually like. When she held it up I was a little disappointed. It wasn't as magical as I wanted my dress to be.

"Really?" I asked, slight distaste in my tone.

"Just try it on." She insisted, shoving it at me. I shrugged, what could it hurt? I took it to the dressing room and put it on. There were no mirrors in there so I was forced to come out and use the mirror where everyone could see me. Kate saw me in the dress before I could look myself. She grinned.

"You look so beautiful Ariel!" She said. I was sure she was exaggerating, that is, until I saw myself in the mirror...

The dress was a lot more attractive on me than it was on the hanger. The bottom portion was simple, white sheets of sleek fabric coming together in the middle of my torso and waving out. The top part was what caught my eye. It was strapless- obviously. My breasts and part of my stomach was covered by the same white material, but it was also covered in white lace, with gold lace sewed in, creating a beautiful pattern. The lace seemed to only be held there by a strip of fabric that stretched up from my waist, twisted in the middle of it all, then rounded over the top of my breasts.

I was instantly in love. In that moment I couldn't see myself getting married in anything but that dress. I looked at my face in the mirror. My lips were parted and my eyes were wide with shock and excitement.

"I love it Kate. This is the one." I whispered. Kate squealed happily as the woman who greeted us appeared again.

"Have you chosen already? Surely you want to try on more than one dress..." She insisted.

"No, this is the one. Once I take it off would you ring it up for me, please?" I asked, stepping back toward the dressing room. The woman's mouth was turned down into a frown, but she nodded. I got changed quickly, the reality that I was going to be able to walk down the isle in that was sinking in... Incredible.

A/N: I know! Too many pictures! I'm only including pictures for things I think I need a visual. This will the the last one! Anyway, here's Ariel's dress!! -Xx
