7. VI

Sehun was still in class, trying to keep up with his Mr. Kim’s constant ramble about the first world war and the death of the former Zar of Russia. He honestly did not how it could be possible to talk that fast, keep telling new facts and so on – he simply couldn’t get it. Mr. Kim’s full name was Kim Jae Joong and as one of the few students in his class, he was not shunned by his oh so handsome looks and could actually focus in class. All the girls – even some guys – had their eyes pointed directed at Mr. Kim’s face almost drooling and certainly not keeping up with notes. Sehun rolled his eyes at all the hopeless cases of students in his class. How could you ever succeed in life when being distracted by simply a good looking man? That was one of the few things Sehun really couldn’t get.

“Fun fact: Did you know when the rebellions were about to shoot the whole Zar family, the women in the family had hidden they gems and jewelry such as necklaces, rings etc. in their corsets. So when the rebellions began to shoot at the family, the shots just couldn’t get through the corsets and ended up on the floor. The gems and jewelry they had hidden in their corsets made come kind of a bulletproof west, but in the end the rebellions just decided to shoot them in the head, since they couldn’t get through to the body,” told Mr. Kim and the girls nodded hazily.

The bell bang and Sehun suddenly felt like the sound of the bell was one of the most beautiful things he had ever come across. Because that noise meant freedom and freedom meant to get away from this horrible school and back home, where he can play all those videogames he could possibly desire.

Sehun gathered his books and along with Baekhyun he went to his closet to get his stuff and collected his books with was needed if he was to do his homework from English class. Their teacher had given them a book report which was due to in two weeks and on top of that they were divided into groups of 4 people from outside the class and in the class. That meant Sehun had to associate with people he didn’t know for a project he was more than capable of doing himself. He had accepted that fact, but as annoying as his English class teacher Mr. Bang had decided not to tell the class who he had put them in the group with. That pissed Sehun off.

The teacher lacked the sense of mercy when it was about group projects. If Sehun knew who he had to spend time with unwilling, then he could prepare himself, brace himself for the horror or maybe even be please. Sehun didn’t see the last thing as an option when considering Mr. Bang as the teacher. Mr. Bang hated everyone and loved to make the students’ lives miserable.

“Are you coming?” asked Baekhyun and Sehun came to reality. He nodded and ran up to Baekhyun, who already was a couple of meter in front of him. When he reached him, he saw Baekhyun raise an eyebrow at him.

“What?” muttered Sehun and tightened his hand around the strap of his backpack.

“You’re acting weird, mind telling me what’s going on? It’s killing me that you won’t tell me what’s going on, when I know something’s up,” complained Baekhyun and puffed his cheeks unsatisfied at Sehun’s behavior.

Sehun sighed. “Nothing’s wrong, Baek. Calm down, would you? You know I’d tell you if there was something up, right? Just relax, I’m completely fine,” assured Sehun Baekhyun, but the smaller boy wasn’t buying it.

Baekhyun huffed. “Yeah right, I know you so well to know that you’re lying your ass off right now. Cut the crap, Sehun, what’s going on? Is it about that girl you met at Jeju?” Sehun almost choked on his own spit when Baekhyun mentioned Luhan, or well, was referring to him. Sehun hadn’t told anyone about his meeting with Luhan, not even Baekhyun. He did try, but it ended up grounding Baekhyun, so he wasn’t so sure that letting anyone know was such a good an idea. On top of that he’d had to admit that those feelings or whatever they were towards Luhan to Baekhyun and he didn’t wish anyone to know about his abnormal feelings towards someone from the same sex.

“Uh, Baek. Honestly, I’m not sure you want to know anything about it. I think it’d be for the best if I kept you out of this,” stuttered Sehun and began to walk a little faster trying to escape the conversation that could possibly emerge in the following minutes. A bit further away he could see Jongdae standing in front of the black car just waiting for him to arrive.

Suddenly he felt a strong hand on his shoulder and in a quick move Sehun was now looking at a very pissed Baekhyun. His ears was almost red which Sehun knew certainly was a good sign. Baekhyun glared at him before he decided to talk.

“Sehun, I’m tired of this secrecy. If you’re not going to tell me what’s going on in that mysterious head of yours, I’ll make Tao beat the shit out of you,” Sehun gulped. “And we both know that Tao would do without even questioning it. You know why? Because he trusts me. He trusts me enough to know that whatever the reason behind that request is, it’s probably something important and I know what I’m doing. I really wish that you one day will return back to your old self and go back to telling to whatever you had on your mind without thinking that I probably wouldn’t understand or I might even judge you for even having those thoughts,” Baekhyun sighed at Sehun before dropping his hand from Sehun’s shoulder. An uncomfortable feeling made its way into Sehun’s stomach and made him feel horrible. Baekhyun sniffed and Sehun saw a tear drill down his puffy cheeks. Sehun cringed and looked down to the ground. This was not how he had thought this conversation would end up, immediately regretting making Baekhyun cry. It made him feel like shit that he, Oh Sehun, had made his best friend cry.

“I’m so sorry Baekhyun, I really am,” muttered Sehun and caught Baekhyun’s attention. “I just feel so wrong and everything’s just so complicated, I don’t even understand it myself, so I hardly think that everyone else would, so I can’t tell you just yet, Baek, but I promise you one thing,” Sehun lifted up his head and looked straight into Baekhyun’s teary eyes. “I will tell you someday, I just need to figure it out, or, just figure some parts of it, before I will be able to tell anyone,” explained Sehun who was pretty surprise over to recently spoken words.

Silence.

Sehun heard Baekhyun sniff again before he dried off the tears from his cheeks. “Promise me that whenever you feel like telling anyone, that you’d tell me?” asked Baekhyun with a roar voice and Sehun nodded wildly. Baekhyun laughed at Sehun’s eagerness.

“You’re such a child,” said the smaller before he playfully smacked the taller on the arm. Sehun smiled when he realized that Baekhyun was smiling again.

Then Sehun did something that not even the gods could predict: Sehun hugged Baekhyun. Sehun didn’t know why he did it considering he was not very much into skinship with his friends, but he just felt like that was something he should do. So he did. Baekhyun gaped at Sehun’s sudden sign of affection. Sehun tightened the hug and dug his head into the older’s neck to much surprise for Baekhyun. Sehun secretly loved digging his head into people’s necks. It made him feel safe somehow and this was the first time he had let down one of his big walls down.

Baekhyun suddenly smiled and threw his arms around Sehun’s waist. The two enjoyed the hug. Sehun felt happy that he had been able to let down that wall, that obstacle in their friendship and he could almost feel that Baekhyun was thrilled over that change in Sehun’s personality.

When the two broke the hug Sehun realized that Baekhyun was smiling widely at him. That made Sehun chuckle at him. “Don’t get used to that, I honestly don’t know why I did that so don’t expect more of this… Skinship,” Baekhyun laughed at the younger. He was just happy that it happened. And Sehun felt the same.

Not short after the episode with Baekhyun was Sehun finally back home. The whole drive from the school to his home had Sehun not even once thrown a little joke nor said anything. Sehun had his thoughts a different place than figuring out what joke he’d play on Jongdae that day. Sehun’s mind was filled up with possible scenarios of how he could tell Baekhyun everything: Should be just put it all out on the table and wait for Baekhyun’s reaction. Tell him that he may or may not be having some outrageous and most defiantly wrong feelings towards a person from the same sex and he had absolutely no clue why and how it possibly would have happened.

Or should he go in another direction.

He could just tell him it all, but leave out the stuff about Luhan and just keep Seyeo as the main problem. That she had come home again and is using a kid from China who had no idea what was going on to get her place in the family back and in the process ruining his life.

Sehun sighed as he walked towards the front door and pressed the door handle down, finding his way into the house with as quietly and with no sound as possible. Sehun had no intentions of talking or even being near his sister unless he was required to or if he had to keep up the act to his parents. He knew that it was wrong to lie to his parents like that but he just had to. He didn’t want to make his mom cry again over her two children could not behave well towards each other. He hated when his mom would cry so to avoid that had Seyeo and him decided long ago to do an act. Even though the two hated each other and would more than happily be fine with not ever seeing the other for the rest of their life, couldn’t they stand seeing their mom cry so they made the deal of putting up an act and ever since had it worked. Their mom noticed nothing and the two siblings only had to smile fake and make a bit skinship. Sehun would do all the skinship in the world to never see his mom cry again.

In a smooth move slipped Sehun out of his shoes and slowly hung up his jacket. When he entered the hall he looked to both sides, relieved to see that the house was empty for any souls, especially Seyeo’s soul. Well, if you call her a soul. Sehun would probably put her in the box with the tag of ‘devil’ but whatever, the fact that no one was home made Sehun smile delighted into the ground. After a few looks more to each side ran Sehun up the stairs to his room. Walking down the up stair hall made the house made his steps sound hallow and loud. On the wall was pictures hanging of his family and even a picture of the whole staff. His dad always treated his employees very well and with respect since he knew that without them would he be nothing. That was one of the few things that made Sehun proud to call the CEO of Oh Industries his dad.

“You’re proud of him, aren’t you?” heard Sehun a voice from behind and shrieked. His heart was beating like mad from the shock when he turned around to see his butler Xiumin standing right beside him smiling fondly at him.

Sehun placed a hand on his chest and rolled with his eyes. “Holy shit, Xiumin, you gave me a shock,” cried Sehun out and groaned. Xiumin only answered with a laugh.

“How long have you been standing there?” asked Sehun annoyed and sighed. Xiumin looked around and exhaled calmly.

“Not too long,” answered Xiumin his master plainly. Xiumin looked away from Sehun and took some steps along the hall while looking at the pictures of his family. Sehun raised an eyebrow at him. What was going on?

“Hold on, aren’t you supposed to address me ‘Master Sehun’ or ‘Young Master’ after every sentence or something? And don’t you have a garden to take care of or a kitchen to clean? It’s not like we’re paying you to just walk around staring at my family’s pictures,” exclaimed Sehun and crossed his arms across his chest.

Xiumin chuckled. “Sehun, I’ve already done that. I got finished with the garden yesterday and the kitchen is always clean as usual,” Sehun raised an eyebrow. What happened to Xiumin’s ‘Young Master’ thing? Had he lost his mind?

“Xiumin, I will kindly remind you that I am the master of his house, so where is your formal language and respect? If I want I can get you fired in an instant,” threatened Sehun and looked sternly at his butler.

Xiumin snorted at Sehun with made him gasp. “Even how much you’d ask your mom and complain they’re never going to fire me. I’ve been an employee here for years, even in my teenage years I have been working here. Besides, my mom is best friends with your mom since preschool, if I was you I wouldn’t go throwing empty threats like that,” Xiumin smiled at Sehun and laughed.

Sehun hissed. How many friends could his mom possibly have? It seemed like every maid, butler or driver working under his family had some sort of connection with their mom to his mom. Sehun frowned.

“Don’t go frown so much, you’ll get wrinkles early if you continue frowning like that,” teased Xiumin. “And wouldn’t Luhan hate watching you look old and grumpy so early in your life?” added he with a smirk on his lips.

Sehun gaped. “What did you say?” asked Sehun almost whispering and looked in awe at his butler who apparently knew something he shouldn’t.

“Yeah, you heard me little guy. I know about your little meet up yesterday with the cookies and stuff,” Sehun blinked at him. How could be possibly know that? “What?” whispered Sehun. This could not happen, oh god no. No one needs to know about Luhan and him; it would just make everything worse.

Xiumin snickered. “Come on, the looks you two give each other says everything, okay? Just an advice, keep the flirtatious and secret glances on hold when you’re around the family. If they just look a bit more at the two of you as I do they’ll notice soon,” added Xiumin and walked towards Sehun.

“You’re not going to tell anyone, right? I will most defiantly get you fired if you go talk behind my back,” threatened Sehun again and sent Xiumin a death glare with mad Xiumin laugh awkwardly.

Xiumin took a step closer and placed his right hand on Sehun’s shoulder. “Don’t worry; I’ll keep my mouth shut, if only you don’t fire me” Sehun exhaled relieved and sent Xiumin a small but thankful smile.

“Of cause, dude. If you just shut your mouth about everything I’ll even make mom give you a raise or something,” Xiumin chuckled at Sehun’s decent try to be nice and nodded with a smile on his lips.

“Sounds good to me,” smiled Xiumin and snickered. “Look, I should probably go clean the kitchen, see you later, little guy,” said Xiumin and walked past Sehun down the stairs.

Sehun shook his head smiling before he turned to look at Xiumin who already was down at the end of the stairs. “I thought you cleaned it already?” shouted Sehun.

“I didn’t, so will you excuse me, Master Sehun, I will continue my chores,” said Xiumin in his usual butler voice with made Sehun raise an eyebrow. Before Sehun could ask about the sudden change of words he heard his mom laugh come through the door followed by a Luhan with a Seyeo clung on his right arm. Sehun soundlessly growled at his sister and her touch on Luhan. Luhan seemed to be nervous and looked uneasily around the hall as if he was looking after anyone.

“Well, hello reality – welcome back,” muttered Sehun lowly to himself before sighing. His mom quickly caught his eyes but before she could say anything was Sehun out of the way and in his own room, far away from his family or his all-knowing butler.

“What a day, huh,” said Sehun again before he sat down on his bed. Moments later changed Sehun into some comfortable clothes and to his luck had his mom decided to go early to bed that day, so he didn’t needed to eat down at the table as usual. A maid came later in with a dinner around 7 and the rest of the evening he had decided to do his homework and text a bit with Baekhyun, who wasn’t mad anymore and had accepted the fact that Sehun someday would tell him. Sehun was glad about that and when he finally got to bed his thoughts, as annoying as they were, went back to that person he had been trying to get off it mind. You try to guess who that person might could’ve been.
