8. Chapter 6

--------- At the club ------------

The smell of sweaty bodies and strong alcohol was lingering in the air as we shoved our way through the crowd to the bar. I held on tight to Laura's hand, trying my hardest not to let go and lose her in the huddle. We eventually managed to get to the bar and the bar tender saw us straight away. I was surprised, seeing as though last time I went to a bar, the bar tender didn't notice me.

We ordered a round of drinks and sat at a table.

"Right, we'll do some shots and then we'll dance!" Laura shouted.

I took the first one, then Laura, then Beth and then Diana. The alcohol burnt my throat a little, just like last time. After the shots had all been drunk, I went into the toilets. When I came back out, the girls had disappeared into the crowd. I was left by myself on the table, so I decided to mess on my phone for a while. I looked up every two seconds to see if the girls had come back... they didn't.

My eyes left my phone for a second and I spotted a very familiar face. It was a guy I had seen before, a guy I knew very, very well. He had blue eyes and blonde hair. He spotted me and I quickly shot my eyes back down to my phone. I could tell he was walking over to me and he sat on the seat right next to me.

"Macie?" he asked.

I looked up slowly and an awkward smile appeared on my face.

"Oh.. hey Niall. I didn't know you were here." I am such a bad liar.

"You just saw me you plonker." he laughed.

"Did I?"

"So how have you been?" he asked, nudging my phone away from me and catching my attention.

"Oh you know, fine."

"Fine?"

"Just had a few... issues lately."

"Thought you'd have been spending time with Harry?"

I paused.

"He left me."

A worried look appeared on his face.

"Really? I'm sorry."

"Thanks. He just... changed. It didn't work out."

"He's a dick for leaving you. I'm a dick for leaving you. I don't know what I was thinking. You look great tonight by the way." he smiled.

"Thanks... you're not a dick Niall. You just... need to be taught some respect."

"Respect?"

"Well you just left me for some girl..."

"Sorry about that."

"So how have you been?" I asked.

"Good yeah. Got a new job, quite close to your house actually. Urm, that's about it really."

"I'm here with my sister and half sisters."

"Half sisters?"

"Oh yeah. My dad's back in town and... I found out I have two sisters and a brother."

"Nice one. I don't have any brothers or sisters. Where are they?"

"Dancing somewhere."

"Left you huh?"

"Pretty much."

We both laughed awkwardly.

"So..." he said, sighing.

"I best go find them. They've probably left and gone home without me."

"Well, I can take you home if you want?" he asked.

"I'll just go find them first."

"Okay."

I stood up and went to check they hadn't just left me. I couldn't find them anywhere... I didn't check the whole club though. I rushed into the toilets and they weren't there. I rushed outside... they weren't there. They'd left me... with Niall. I went back over to him and he smiled as I sat down.

"Can't find them?" he asked.

"Nope. They've probably just... gone to another club."

"Come on then, I'll drive you home." he offered.

"Haven't you been drinking?" I asked.

"I've only had half a glass. I'm sure I'll be fine."

We left the club together, jumped into the car and set off home. I didn't speak to him for the whole ride... it was kind of awkward. We arrived at my house and he opened the car door and helped me out. He walked me to my front door and kissed my cheek.

"Sorry about making everything awkward. I hope you have a nice life Macie." he told me as he walked back to his car.

"Niall!" I shouted, regretting it.

"Yeah?"

I didn't want to ask him inside, it would be weird, but I really wanted to kiss him just one last time.

"Thanks... for the ride. I appreciate it." I smiled.

"You're welcome, any time. I hope I bump into you again."

He left and I couldn't help but smile the rest of the night.
