4. Chapter 3

"Dad." I said.

"Macie... Laura." he replied.

Laura fell to the floor, her eyes flooded with tears. I rushed over to her and hugged her tight. She wouldn't stop crying so I had to take her upstairs to calm down. I sat with her on my bed for a while and went back downstairs to give her some time to think.

I was speechless. My dad, who I hadn't seen in 5 years... had just turned up on my doorstep.

"What are you doing here dad?" I asked him as I let him inside and closed the door.

"It was Leon actually. He wanted to meet you. I take it you already have?" he asked.

"Leon?" I asked.

"Yeah, your mum said you rushed off after lunch."

"Mum knows you're here?!" I shouted.

"Yes. She called me as soon as she met Leon and asked if I'd come and see you." He sat down on the couch and I sat on the chair opposite him.

"Well, you've seen us." I said.

"You're so grown up. I heard you had a boyfriend. Is he here?"

"No. He's on his way home though, so if you stick around... you could say hello."

"Macie I need you to know that... I didn't leave because you became ill... I left because your mum and I... we weren't working out. I cheated on her... a lot... and I got myself into a relationship with another woman, whilst I was still with your mum. I left because I found out she was pregnant and I couldn't just... leave her."

"So... let me get this straight. You made me believe... that it was my fault you left. When really... it was all because you couldn't keep it in your pants?" I asked, sarcastically.

"Macie... I."

"No dad! I'm guessing it's Leon... the kid you ditched us for?" I asked him.

"I didn't ditch you Macie! But I couldn't just leave her could I?!"

"Who is she?"

"Her names Janet. She's back home but if you want... you can come back and meet her."

"Are you fucking kidding me?! No! I'm not gonna just... introduce myself and pretend that I'm glad you ran off with her... when really I'm practically dying inside because my dad left me!" I walked off into the kitchen and he followed me.

"Macie I'm not asking you to be okay with this! I'm asking you to give her a chance!"

"You know... I cried myself to sleep... every single night... because I made myself think that you left... because I was selfish and I craved attention. I needed you dad... I was sick. Mum sent me to a rehab clinic and I thought I was never gonna see her or Laura ever again!" I sat on the chair and he stood leaning on the door.

"I'm so sorry Macie. I had no idea how bad the situation was. If I'd have known you were in there... I would have never left."

"Bullshit." I said.

"Macie don't swear."

"You don't exactly have the right to tell me what to do any more dad! Do you know how old I am by the way?" I asked.

"Macie..."

"I'm twenty years old dad. I'm practically an adult now... so I don't have to listen to anything... you say to me." I walked back into the living room. "You're best off going before Laura comes back down. She doesn't deserve to cry any more than she already has done."

He grabbed his bags and I walked him out. I closed the door and fell to the floor. My head fell into my hands and I cried as hard as I could. Laura ran down the stairs and crouched down next to me, holding me in her arms. We sat there for almost an hour when Harry walked through the door and pulled me up to face him. I looked at him and wrapped my arms around his neck. He wrapped his arms around my waist and hugged me tight. I felt him rub my back and I wiped my eyes as he let go of me.

"What the hell happened?" he asked.

"It was my dad. He just turned up at my doorstep and ruined everything! He is such an asshole!" I cried as fast as I could.

"Macie slow down! Sit down and tell me." He sat down on the couch and sat me on his lap.

"He turned up on my doorstep and tried explaining why he left and he just... acted like everything was okay. And it wasn't!" I fell forwards into his chest and cried even more. I honestly think this is the most I've ever cried. He really hurt me.

"Where is he now?" he asked.

"I don't know. I told him to go about an hour ago." I replied.

"Right. I'll go to your mums and see if he's there. Do you wanna come?"

"No. My mum knew he was here. Laura you were right... Leon isn't her friends son... he's our brother. Well, half brother." I told her.

She sat on the bottom step and stayed quiet. I could tell she was upset and she was dying to burst out crying but she kept it in. Harry went to my mums and we tried to get some sleep.

I could tell this wasn't going to be good.
