13. Chapter 10

The funeral had ended and everyone was walking back to their cars in their black outfits. We didn't bother having an after party... what was there to celebrate? I drove home with Harry and Beth, Diana and Leon drove home with Dad, leaving Mum and Laura to walk home. They didn't mind though, they liked walking.

"Are you okay?" Harry asked, resting his hand on my leg.

"Yeah, I'm good. You?" I replied.

"You can drop me off at the end of the road and I'll walk the rest of the way." I told him.

"No it's fine. I need to take my stuff in home. You can help me if you like?" he asked.

"Sure. I need to keep busy."

We pulled up outside Harry's house and walked inside. His house only had furniture in it, apart from that, it was empty. He brought the boxes inside and helped me unpack them.

"I forgot, where does the cutlery go?" I asked.

"Second drawer near the sink." he replied.

"This one?" I asked, pointing to the drawer.

"No, this one." He opened the one next to it and laughed.

"I haven't been in this house for ages." I said.

"Same. It feels weird."

"At least you're home now though." I said.

I turned to put the cutlery into the drawer and felt two arms wrap around my waist. Harry hugged me from behind and rested his head on my shoulder. I was confused at what he was doing until he whispered in my ear.

"I've missed you Macie."

"Urm... Harry?" I asked, turning to face him. His hands were still wrapped around my waist.

"Yeah?" he replied.

"The boxes need unpacking." I said, budging from his grip and changing the subject. "We're best off getting it done now and then..."

He cut me off with a kiss. His hands cupped my cheeks and mine grabbed his waist. I had no idea what he was doing... but I liked it. He pulled me up to his waist, wrapping my legs around him and pushing me up to the wall. My back pressed against it and he dug his hips into mine as my feet touched the floor. We shared a few hot kisses... with tongue... and he released, pressing his forehead onto mine. His hands moved down to my sides and held my hands. I looked straight into his green eyes as they twinkled.

"Well that escalated quickly." I said, laughing.

"I just wanted to see if kissing you was still the same." he replied.

He walked away and started unpacking another box.

"So, are we just suppose to act like this never happened?" I asked, walking over to him.

"No, of course not." he said, standing in front of me and holding my hands. "I just thought it would be wrong to take it even further."

"What does that mean?"

"Every time we kiss like that, it always ends up leading to the bedroom."

"You kissed me!"

"I'm fully aware of that. I just don't want to make it awkward between us."

"You mean how it used to be before we started dating?"

I looked down at my feet an his hand moved my chin up.

"Look, I'm not saying I don't want that ever again... cause I do. I'm just saying I want to wait a while." he told me.

"So just put this behind us until 'further notice'?" I asked.

"For now."

I hugged him and helped unpack the rest of the boxes. When we'd finished, I was all sweaty so I decided to go home and shower. I left Harry's house and jumped in the shower.

The smell of coconut shampoo lingered in the bathroom and steam created a layer on the mirror. I drew a love heart on it and wrote 'Harry Loves Me'. I quickly wiped it away and finished off washing myself. The soap was slippery and it kept falling out of my hands. The water was hot and made steam float off my body. I climbed out and wrapped the towel around me. Little droplets of water fell from my shoulders as I squeezed my hair. I brushed my teeth and rinsed my face with cold water.

I remembered to shut my curtains... just in case. My lazy day outfit was had bee laid out on my bed from earlier on. My hair was soft and fluffy as I combed my fingers through it after drying it. My clothes were warm and smelt of washing powder. I slipped my small feet into my fluffy Christmas socks and brushed my hair. I left it down because I liked the smell of it.

The house was dark after I'd turned all the upstairs lights off and the candles flickered from the breeze that passed through the windows. I made myself some hot chocolate and put some fresh pieces of toffee into the bowl on the coffee table. There were some Christmas films on the TV even though Christmas was still a month away, so I decided to watch Elf. My favourite part was when he was having spaghetti with syrup.

I heard a knock at the door, so I paused the film and went to see who was disturbing me. It was Laura. She was standing crying with her phone in one hand and blood on her other hand.

"What the hell happened?!" I asked her, as she sat the kitchen table.

I turned on the light and grabbed my first aid box.

"I got into a fight with a homeless man on the street... and he smacked with a sandwich... and made me get mustard in my hair! Then he threw a bottle at me... but I caught it with my hand and it smashed and now my hand really hurts!!" she cried.

"Why were you fighting with a homeless man?" I asked, wiping away the blood and covering it with a bandage.

"Ouch that hurts!" she hissed through her teeth. "He was trying to steal my KFC."

"KFC? At this time?"

"I was hungry and they were having a discount on the chicken."

I couldn't help but laugh.

"It's not funny!" she said, hitting my arm.

"Where is your KFC?" I asked.

"I dropped it in some dog poo."

I laughed even harder and fell off my chair. My stomach hurt from how much I was laughing!

"Sorry... sorry... sorry!!" I said, climbing back up. "I'll make you something."

"Are you watching Elf?" she asked, sitting on the couch.

"Yeah. Don't play it yet!" I shouted. "Here." I passed her some toaster waffles with syrup and a glass of milk.

"Thanks. Harry moved in next door." she told me.

"Yeah I know, I helped him move in."

"You helped your ex-boyfriend move in... next door to you?"

"It sounds weird... but we decided to be friends, for now."

"For now? Did you kiss?" she shouted.

"Careful, you're gonna spill the milk! And maybe a little kiss."

"Oh My Gosh!! What if he asks you out again?!" she shouted again.

"He did give me his grandmothers ring. He told me he still loves me and he cares about me."

"That's so sweet!"

"I know."

"Do you still love him?"

"Of course I do... I never stopped loving him."

"I hate men... what are you gonna do with them!" she laughed.

I started Elf from the beginning and we spent the rest of the night under a warm blanket eating cookies and toffee.

I still love Harry and I hope he still loves me too.
