Chapter 90

Liv’s POV

After Louis and Harry left, Liam and the rest of the boys continued to make jokes about Harry and Louis being like teenage girls and going to the bathroom together to talk. After a minute or so, the jokes died down, and we just started talking about other things.

As we were talking, our food arrived and I then began to wonder when Harry and Louis would be back. I really wanted to know what they were talking about and why they couldn’t just stay here to talk. I can probably just ask Harry later though, that is if he’ll tell me. Whatever Louis had to tell him, I don’t know if he wanted Harry to tell anyone anything.

The four of us had planned on waiting for Harry and Louis to get back before we started eating, but then Niall started complaining that he was hungry. Soon after Zayn joined him, saying how hungry they both were.

“Screw it, I’m eating,” Liam said, and picked up his fork.

Once he started eating, the three of us just decided to go ahead and eat.

“They won’t mind we started without them,” Niall said.

“Yeah, why should we wait for them and let all of our food get cold? This way only their food gets cold,” Zayn said, and we all laughed.

As I picked up my glass of water, I noticed Harry and Louis finally coming back.

“The gossip girls are back,” Niall said once he noticed them sitting back down in their chairs.

“Whatever,” Louis said.

“Glad our food came,” Harry said as he picked up his fork and picked up the pasta covered in white sauce on his plate.

“It’s a bit cold,” Harry said to me after he swallowed his pasta.

“Well the food came out not long after you left,” I told him.

“Makes sense then,” he said and smiled as he put some more pasta on his fork.

Harry and I mostly kept to our own conversation as the boys focused on their own conversations with each other. It wasn’t long until all of us finished our plates of food and were ready to pay.

The waiter came by to pick up our empty plates, and then moments later came back with our check or checks since we all agreed we would be paying separately. After all the booklets with our checks were passed out, I opened mine to see how much I owed, and I then noticed Harry looking at my check too. I reached into my purse that I had set on the ground, and when I sat back up, Harry was handing me a few folded up bills of money.

“Why are you giving me money?” I asked him.

“To pay for your meal obviously,” he said, moving the money closer to me waiting for me to take it from him.

“I thought we all agreed we were paying separately,” I told him.

“I don’t care,” he said.

“Now take it,” he said, poking my arm with the money until I finally grabbed it out of his hands.

“Fine,” I said, and I put the money into the black booklet after I took it from him.

“I’m going to pay for something for you at some point,” I told him.

“You just keep telling yourself that,” he said and smiled as he began to start messing with strands of my hair.

“What are you doing?” I asked, swatting his hand away from my head.

“Hey lovebirds,” I heard someone say, “Hand me the books,” I looked up and saw Zayn was the one talking to us.

I tried to hide the redness rising to my cheeks as I picked up my booklet along with Harry’s and reached across the table to give them to Liam.

After awhile, the waiter finally came back and picked up our checks. It took awhile for him to come back because he had six checks to deal with. Especially mine because I ended up paying in cash instead of using a credit or debt card. I didn’t count how much money Harry gave me to put in, but know him he probably gave me extra and then he’ll make keep the large amount of change.

Nevertheless, the waiter soon came back and gave everyone their booklet containing whatever they paid with so they could have it back. Along with their final copy of the receipt, and for me the option to leave a tip. Once I got my book back, I opened it and wasn’t surprised to see the amount of money still left in there compared to how much was actually owed. I decided to leave a generous tip because I certainty didn’t need the money from Harry, so I might as well give it to someone who would probably put better use to it. I took out the coins that were in there, and left the paper money, then closed the booklet and set it on the table.

“You’re leaving all the money for a tip?” Harry asked, a bit shocked and confused.

“Yeah, might as well,” I shrugged.

“Well aren’t you nice?” Harry smiled.

“Technically you’re the nice on because its your money,” I told him.

“I am pretty nice aren’t I?” he joked.

“Really I’m nicer because it was my idea,” I said.

“No, I’m the nice one!” Niall said and threw his hands in the air, and everyone started laughing. “Seriously though you both are weird,” Niall said once everyone calmed down from laughing at him.

“Well, shall we go get ice cream then?” Liam asked, changing the subject.

“Sure,” we all agreed, and got up from the table. We all pushed in our chairs, and then made our way out of the restaurant.

“Wait,” Niall said just as Harry was about to open the door to leave to go across the street.

Niall held up a finger signaling us to continue waiting as he took a few steps back and grabbed a handful of peppermints from the bowl that was set out.

“Seriously?” I said once I realized what he was doing.

“What?” he said and shrugged as he walked back over to us, stuffing the mints into his pocket.

“We’re about to go get ice cream,” Louis told him.

“Yeah, so? These are peppermints,” he said, and plopped one of the candies in his mouth.

“Hand me one,” I said.

He put his hand in his pocket and then tossed me one of the peppermints. I caught it in the air, and began to unwrap it. Just as I was about to put it in my mouth, I saw the rest of the boys looking at me.

“What?” I asked and shrugged and put the candy into my mouth.

“You both truly are related,” Louis said, and we all finally walked out of the restaurant.

“I don’t get what the big deal is about eating a peppermint before getting ice cream,” I said.

“Neither do I,” Niall agreed.

“The mint flavor right before ice cream will make your mouth even more cold then just the ice cream does,” Liam told us.

“What?” I said.

“And you think we’re the weird ones,” Niall said, and then the both of us laughed as everyone else just rolled their eyes.

“At least I didn’t grab a whole handful of peppermints,” I said.

“No, but you’ll probably end up eating half of the handful I got,” Niall told me.

“Whatever,” I said, and we continued to walk down the street.
