Chapter 30

Liv’s POV

After I finished getting ready, I walked back into the living room where Harry was watching something on the TV.

“I’m ready,” I said and walked behind where Harry was sitting on the couch.

“Okay,” he said and I slid back on the jacket he had given me.

He turned off the TV and we both headed to the door. We walked into the hall way and Harry closed the door behind him. We made out way to the elevators and got in one of them. I pressed the lobby button and the elevator starting moving down. Just as the elevator had started moving, I was about to start talking to Harry when his phone started ringing. He held up his finger signaling me to wait because he probably noticed I was going to say something. He took his phone out of his pocket and answered it. He stepped over to the other side of the elevator and turned so most of his back was facing me now.

“Hello?” I heard him say quietly into the phone.

“I’ll tell you later, what do you want?” he asked whomever he was talking.

“Yes I’ve seen them, is that all you want?”

“Well there was really no point in calling then,”

I was confused as to whom he was talking too, and I couldn’t help but wonder what they were talking about.

“Okay bye,” Harry said and hung up.

“Who was that?” I couldn’t help but ask.

“Nobody,” he said and put his phone back in his pocket.

“Well it sounded like someone,” I joked.

“It was no one,” he said back harshly. I was a bit taken back by his tone of voice, and I decided to let the question go.

“Sorry,” I heard him say quietly.

I didn’t answer as the elevator reached the lobby and we both got off.

Just as we walked outside, Harry wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me closer to him, trying to keep me warm I presume. We continued walking until we reached Harry’s car. He kept his arm around me as he got his keys out of his pocket. He unlocked the car then let go of me to open the door for me. I got in and he closed the door and walked over to the driver’s side. Once he got in, he started up the car and drove off.

I was excited to go to the main area downtown. Every year near Christmas they would set up this big light display in the middle of the shopping area.

“So when was the last time you saw the lights?” Harry asked trying to make conversation.

“I don’t know, I didn’t go the Christmas before I left because,” I stopped, and I knew Harry knew why.

The whole break up between us happened a few days before all the lights went up, and I was too upset to go. I was also busy getting ready and packed to move to America.

We talked some more as Harry drove us downtown. There was lots of traffic getting into the shopping center. So many people getting in Christmas shopping and coming to see the light displays. We finally made our way out of the line of cars and we were now trying to find a place to park. As Harry was driving around, I was looking outside watching all the little kids pulling their parents into stores and showing them all the toys in the shop windows.

I also watched Harry trying to find place to park. He mumbled curses under his breath every time someone else stole a spot he had his eye on. He sped up a bit more once he saw another empty spot. He let out a sigh of relief once he successfully pulled into the parking spot.

“Finally,” he said, and took the keys out of the car.

We both got out of the car, and began walking toward the middle of the shopping area where the lights were. I pulled my jacket tighter around my body as the wind started to blow.

“You’re cold?” Harry looked over at me and smirked.

“Yes,” I said like it was obvious.

“Come here,” he said and held his arm out and began to wrap it around me as I moved closer to him.

As we were walking, the snow started lightly falling again, adding to the snow that was already all over the ground.

I was getting excited once the giant Christmas tree came into view, followed by the beginning of the lights display. There were still a few weeks until Christmas so not all the lights were up, but most of them were up. They usually put up a different part of the display every week until Christmas. They do a little celebration here at Christmas, but most people are at the park because none of the shops here are open then.

“Look,” Harry said as we came up to the lights. He was pointing at a moving light up penguin.

I laughed as Harry took his phone out and took a picture of it.

“Go stand in front of the Christmas tree,” Harry told me.

“Why?” I asked,

“I want to take a picture of you in front of it,” he told me.

“Again I ask, why?”

“Because, now go,” he said and shooed me over there with his hand.

I went ahead and did as he said and stood in front of the tree and he took a picture.

“Okay, you can come back,” he told me and I walked back over to him.

“Lets go,” he said once I came back over to him, and grabbed my hand and pulled me along with him.

I was really enjoying his playful mood right now; it was fun spending time with him when he was like this. Harry brought me over to a hot chocolate stand, there were a few other people already in the line, so we got behind them. Harry went ahead and pulled some money out of his pocket as we were waiting.

“Don’t you dare order me some fancy, extravagant hot chocolate,” I told him, trying to sound stern, but I ended up smiling.

“Don’t worry, I won’t,” he said and chuckled.

We were now next in line, and the people in front of us were about to get their drinks. After they got them, Harry and I stepped up and Harry ordered for us. He ordered me a hot chocolate with marshmallows, and he ordered himself one with whipped cream and crushed peppermint. I watched as the person behind the stand poured the chocolate drink into two cups, and added each of our toppings.

Once he finished, he handed both of us the cups, and Harry put the money on the counter. We walked off, and Harry and I were now just walking around and talking. We window shopped most of the time, but a few times one of us would see something we liked and would end up going inside the store. Although neither of us ended up getting something from the store we went into, I was still enjoying this time with him. He was telling me about the upcoming album him and the boys were working on. He also was asking me some questions about my tour.

“So when is your break from the tour over?” he asked.

“Toward the end of January,” I said.

“You have to stay until February,” he somewhat begged.

“Why?” I asked and laughed a bit at his tone of voice.

“February 1st is my birthday,” he said.

“Oh yeah, I forgot about that,” I said suddenly remembering.

“I can’t believe you forgot,” he said pretending to sound hurt.

“Sorry, I just never really had a need to remember,” I said, my voice getting quieter.

“Yeah,” he said, his voice quieter as well as we continued walking.

The whole break up between us will always be a sore subject between us. I just wish I would stop partially bringing it up, but every time I did, it was because my mouth was speaking before my mind could comprehend what I was going to say. It was silent between us now, and I was desperately searching my mind for another topic of conversation to bring up, but I couldn’t find anything to say.
