Chapter 23

Liv’s POV

As we were walking back to his car, I noticed a few paparazzi walking around the park and near Harry’s car. I stopped walking and Harry looked over at me,

“What’s wrong?” he asked.

“Can we wait until the paparazzi leave before we go to your car?” I asked him.

“No we will be fine, just ignore them,” he told him.

I hesitated but agreed anyway as I unwillingly followed him to his car. Once the paparazzi noticed us, they came running over to us and began snapping pictures and asking questions. I mentally cursed at Harry for making me come right where they were waiting for us. This was going to be all over pop culture news by tomorrow. I quickly went over to Harry’s car and kept tugging at the handle until Harry unlocked the car and I jumped inside. I sighed in relief once I was in the car, but the paparazzi were still taking pictures from outside the car.

“Please hurry up Harry,” I begged as he fumbled with his keys until he put one in the car.

He twisted the key and the car started up and he pulled out of the small parking lot onto the road.

“I really wish you would’ve let me wait instead of just walking out there for them to get what they want,” I said.

“It’s fine,” was all he said.

Maybe for you, but I don’t want everyone thinking we are back together, I wanted to say to him but I decided against it.

“So are you taking me back to apartment now?” I asked.

“Probably,” he said, and I threw my head back against the seat.

“Relax, I’m just going to stop by a drive thru then take you to your apartment.” he told me.

“That’s still not taking me straight to the apartment,” I pointed out.

“Well its close enough, you’re hungry aren’t you?” he asked.

“Yeah, I guess so,” I said.

“See, you’re getting free lunch and a ride to your apartment,” he said.

“I’m paying for my food,” I told him.

“Not this again,” he mumbled under his breath but I still heard him.

“We could save ourselves a few minutes every time we buy something if you’d just go ahead and let me pay. We both know that no matter what I usually end up paying,” he said with a smile.

I just rolled my eyes at him even though I knew he was right.

After a few minutes, Harry drives up to a drivethru window at a place I’ve never seen before. Once Harry drove up to the window, I lean over to see the menu. Most of the items were sandwiches so I’m guessing this is primarily a sandwich place.

“What do you want?” Harry asked.

“I don’t know, what’s good here?” I asked.

Harry turned toward the menu and began to point out a few of the sandwiches he thought were good. I eventually decided on just getting what he was getting. Harry rolled down his car window and reached over to press the order button. A few seconds later a voice came through the speaker and Harry ordered. Once he finished ordering, he pulled up to the next window to pay, and then the next window to get the food.

“Here you go,” Harry said once he grabbed the two bags of food and then two drinks and handed me mine.

“Thank you,” I said and grabbed the bag and my drink.

I put the drink in a cup holder and then opened the bag and undid the wrapping on the sandwich. It smelled and looked really good, and I then took a big bite of it as Harry drove back onto the road.

“It’s good right?” Harry asked as he struggled to eat his sandwich with one hand and drive with the other.

“It’s really good,” I said.

“And look at you driving with one hand,” I added.

He looked confused for a second, but a smile grew on his face and I could tell remembered the event from a few hours ago.

“Being safe and driving with two hands is overrated,” he said and took another bite of his sandwich as I giggled.

“Okay then,” I said and set my sandwich down on the wrapper in my lap and took a sip of my drink.

Harry and I talked pretty much the whole drive back to my apartment. Most of it was pointless conversation, but it was fun. I really hated to admit it but I was actually having a good time with Harry. Once again I still hoped he didn’t think this would stop me from being mad at him. He did apologize for some of what he had said, but I’ll admit it I can be stubborn, but I want a full apology. Once that happens, I’ll probably be friends with him, but I’m not looking to get back in a relationship with him right now, if ever.

I was a little upset when my apartment came into view, but I shook the upset feeling away. I’m with Harry; I shouldn’t be upset about leaving. I put my trash in the little compartment in the door where I saw some other things had been thrown away. As I grabbed my purse from the floor on the car, Harry pulled up to the curb and unlocked the doors.

“Do you want me to walk you up?” Harry asked a bit nervously.

“Sure,” I said and he both got out of the car.

Harry locked the car as he walked up to where I was waiting on the sidewalk for him. Once he was next to me we walked inside, and then walked over to the elevators. I noticed one of the elevators was open and I quickly jogged over to it as Harry followed. Once I began to walk inside, I almost stopped and walked away. Why did he almost always have to be in the elevator at the same time as me?

“Hey Liv,” Nick said once Harry and I were in the elevator.

“Hey Nick,” I said trying to cover up how annoyed I was.

It’s not that I don’t like Nick, but I’d rather not have him and Harry both here, because I’m pretty sure Harry despises him, and also I don’t want Nick think Harry and I are back together, I don’t want anyone to think that. The thing is though, when people see us merely walked next to each other, they think we are dating again.

“Hello Harry,” Nick said once the elevator doors closed.

“Hey,” Harry simply said and kept looking at the elevator doors.

The elevator ride felt like an eternity. The three of us were mute, except for either me or Nick making small comments. These are the times that I hate being nearly on the top floor. I was relieved when the elevator finally stopped on my floor. The three of us walked out, and once Nick was walking in front of us, Harry leaned down and whispered something in my ear,

“Why is he still here?” Harry whispered and a chill went through my body as I felt his breath on my skin.

“He lives on this floor,” I whispered back.

“Of course he does,” Harry mumbled to himself once he lifted his head back up.

“Well bye Liv,” Nick said once we reached my door.

“Bye,” I said back and got my keycard out from my purse as Harry and Nick exchanged looks. Nick then continued walking down the hall until he reached his door.

“I don’t like him,” Harry said as I opened my door.

“I don’t care,” I replied as I walked inside my apartment.

“Inviting me in are you?” Harry said with a smirk and I rolled my eyes.

“You can leave now,” I told him.

“Oh I don’t want too,” Harry said as he closed the door behind him.

“Well you walked me up so you can leave,” I told him and walked over to the door to open it.

“I don’t think you want me to leave,” Harry said as he grabbed my hand to stop it from opening the door.

“I think you want me to stay,” he said as he turned he around so my back was against the door.

“I want you to leave,” I stuttered as I felt his hot breath against my skin.

“Are you sure?” he asked softly and I nodded.

“Okay I’ll leave, but first,” he stopped talking as he began to lean himself closer to me.

“Harry stop,” I said as I tried to take a step back, forgetting that my back was on the door.

He moved his head back a bit, “I don’t think you want me to,” he said and began to lean in again.

“I don’t want you to kiss me,” I said and tried to push him away from me.

“Why? We had such a good time today, and I said I was sorry about what I had said about your singing.” he said.

“Well that doesn’t change much between us, I want a full apology I don’t get why you don’t understand that,” I told him.

“You want an apology? I will give you one,” he said and I stood up straight and crossed my arms as I waited for up to speak.

“Look, I’m sorry about everything that I said that day. I was upset and angry, I was just feeling so many emotions that day that I just couldn’t control them and I let my temper get the best of me. I’ve regretted that day ever since it happened. I was furious with myself for hurting you and letting you go, it was one of the worst things I have ever done, you had a chance to purse your dream and I didn’t support you. You’re beautiful, funny, and extremely talented, and I’m sorry, really sorry,” he finished.

Once Harry stopped talking I was speechless, I couldn’t manage to say anything, I was just so shocked by his apology.

“So um, do you forgive me or-“ I cut him off by quickly pulling him into a hug.

I could tell Harry was just as surprised as I was, my emotions got the best of me and I wrapped my arms around him before I had realized what I was doing. I smiled a little when I felt his arms around me and he pulled me closer to him. We both pulled back from the hug, and Harry began to lean again like he had a few minutes ago, and I didn’t stop him.

There was a voice in my head telling me to stop him because you don’t want him to think you both are just back together just like that. There was another voice in my head just ignoring the nagging and telling me not to worry about anything, just let him kiss you. A warm feeling filled my body once his lips were on mine. He begins to press his lips harder against mine, and without thinking, I began to kiss him back. He wrapped his arms around my waist as he pulled me closer to him. He began to move his lips, but I pulled back.

Once I pulled back, I instantly missed his lips against mine, but I knew if I kissed him again, he would try to make it intimate and I don’t want that right now. Harry kept his face close to mine and I noticed a smile on his face as he leaned down to my ear.

“I guess I’ll leave now,” he whispered and gently moved me away from the door.

“Bye,” he said with a smiled and opened the door and left.
