Chapter 14

Liv’s POV

Nick and I arrived back at the apartment, after a somewhat short drive of me talking about my life based on the last few days. I was actually surprised by the fact that Nick actually seemed to care.

Niall however was calling and texting me non-stop. I’d finally had enough of it and turned my phone off.

Nick parked in the apartment lot and we got out of the car. We walked over to the gate to let ourselves out before heading to the main entrance of the building. As we walked inside, I noticed the restaurants and remembered that I hadn’t eaten dinner yet.

“Are you coming?” he asked, I hadn’t realized that I had stopped walking.

“You go on ahead, I think I’m going to get something to eat,” I tell him.

“I can join you, if you’d like,” he offered.

“No it’s fine, you just ate didn’t you?”

“Yeah, but getting something else to eat won’t kill me,” he smiled.

“I guess not,” I smiled.

“So which one do you want to eat at?” he asked.

“Well I already ate at the seafood one,” I told him.

“So not the seafood one I’m guessing,” he said.

“You’d be correct,” I told him, and we then walked towards the other restaurant with more variety of food.

We walked inside and got a table, and went ahead and ordered our drinks as well. He had me continue telling him about my last few days as I looked at the menu.

“You really didn’t have to pay for my meal,” I told Nick as we left the restaurant.

“It’s no problem, really.” he assured.

“Anyways, thanks for everything tonight. I know listening to me ramble on probably wasn’t your ideal night,” I said.

“Don’t worry about it, I had fun,” he told me.

“Thanks for listening then, it did feel a bit better to actually talk about it all.” I said.

“I knew you would,” he said with a smile.

We reached the elevators and got on one that was already open. We went in and I pressed the button for the floor we were going to. There were already a few people in there, so Nick and I didn’t really talk to each other on the way up. The whole elevator ride was silent, it was if you talked everyone in the elevator could hear your conversation.

After stopping at numerous floors so people could get off and so more people could get on, we finally arrived at our floor. By now we were the only people on the elevator because everyone else had already gotten off.

“I thought we’d never get to our floor,” Nick said as we stepped off.

“Me too, that took forever,” I said.

The elevator was closing behind us as we began to walk down the hallway.

“I had fun tonight,” Nick said as we came up to my apartment door.

“This seems to be the only decent night I’ve had this week so far.” I said.

“What about your concert? I don’t think anything could top that,” he said.

“You’re right, but Niall brought Harry unexpectedly and it just confused my night.” I told him and he just nodded.

“Well I’ll see you tomorrow probably,” I said as got my key card out of my purse.

I turned to my door to open it, but was stopped by Nick’s hand on my arm turning me to face him again. He moved his hand up to my shoulder as he began to lean in. It took me a second to realize what he was doing and I instantaneously stepped back.

“What are you doing?” I asked him shocked.

“I was going to kiss you,” he said and leaned in again.

“Well stop,” I demanded pushing him back.

“I thought it was what you wanted,” he said with a confused look on his face.

“Why would you think that?” I asked him.

He was silent for a second before answering, “You know what, I don’t know,” he said with a sudden burst of anger and stomped off to his apartment.

I looked over at him again then quickly looked back. I took keycard that I had been grasping tightly and put it in the door and walked inside. I couldn’t help but wonder about what just happened. Why did he try to kiss me and why did he think I wanted him to.

I guess I was sending him mixed signals. I just wanted to be friends with him, because it would be nice to have a friend in the city that wasn’t part of my tour crew or part of One Direction. And I thought Niall might have fractured the chance of a possible friend, turns out it was me, or was it Nick? I wasn’t sure, but it was really starting to bother me.

I tried my best to let it go as I walked into my room to get my laptop. I went back into the living room and tossed my purse on the chair as I sat down on the couch and turned the TV on. I opened up my laptop and saw that I was still opened up to the articles about yesterday. I decided to refresh the page and see what was up now. I scanned through some of the new articles. Most were about yesterday and different websites ideas and suspicions about it.

One did catch my eye though; it seemed to be about earlier today. I clicked on the link even though I knew I’d be better off if I didn’t look at it right now. Once the page loaded a skimmed through the short paragraph and looked at the pictures. The pictures were only of Niall, Harry, and I going into the bowling alley. I was thankful that they hadn’t posted anything about me at the restaurants with them, and then leaving with Nick.

I knew that something would be posted about it soon though once the pictures got around. I closed my laptop and set it down on the coffee table. I wasn’t exactly sure what I had on the TV at the moment; it was still on the channel that was on when I turned on the TV. I picked up the remote and began to surf through the channels until I found a how I liked.

I set the remote back down and took my phone out of my purse and turned it back on. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to see how many times Niall texted and called me. I hated when we got in fights when I still lived here. Usually it was over stupid things and we got over them in a day or so. It was different now, I’ve been here for about three days, and two of those days I have been upset with Niall. Most of this was Harry’s fault though; if we were still together Niall wouldn’t be acting like this.

If we were still together…no, this is all Harry’s fault if he would just control his temper and his mood swings, and if he would have just supported me, I wouldn’t be coming to the apartment every night upset with Niall for his attempt to get Harry and I back together.

I realized my phone had turned on and my screen was filled with texts and calls from Niall, and that was just the lock screen. I unlocked my phone and saw how many times he’d tried to contact me. I opened the text app and I was about to opened the texts from Niall, when I noticed one other text from someone else. It was from Harry. I couldn’t believe I still had his number in my phone, I remember I just couldn’t bring myself to delete his number even though I knew I should’ve.

I was about to read the text when I heard a knock at the door.
