Just Be Yourself

This is for the "Movellas gets political" contest. Just be Yourself. That's what matters.

1. Just Be Yourself

There are many times in life when you feel like you don’t belong. Many. This could be of many factors; bullying, society, media. Also, there are many times in life you hate yourself. This could be of media. In the media, you see beautiful flawless skinny models, and then you look at yourself with disgust. This is especially popular in teenage girls, who compare themselves to supermodels. They want to look like supermodels. But, that may not be popular. What they don’t understand, is that they are beautiful. I, myself am a teenage girl, with the wise age of fourteen. Definitely not wise, and I myself have compared myself to supermodels, and hated the way I looked. You can feel imperfect. Especially when many of your friends are skinny and beautiful and look like models, and then there are you who are large, spotty, and you feel ugly. Perfection is the way you look on the inside not out.

I searched up for the definition of perfect, and this is what I found.

1. Having all the required or desirable qualities, elements or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be.

2. Make (something) completely free from faults or defects; make as good as possible.

I can tell you honestly that nobody is perfect. Even famous people. When you look at the media, you see skinny, beautiful models. But even in there life, you can find things that are not so perfect. God made nobody perfect.

In every school. There’s a girl or boy, who everybody wants to be like. Maybe because this girl is beautiful, skinny, rich, and popular or this boy is handsome, strong, has muscles, is athletic. But even for these people who may seem like perfect, they have things in life that may not be so perfect. So maybe this perfect girl has a life threatening disease, or this boy parents were in prison. For every single perfect person you find, you find a massive scar underneath.

If to be the perfect girl you have to wear Prada shoes, wear designer clothes, have the perfect figure, and never eat sweets or unhealthy food. Would it be worth it? You don’t have to follow the flock of swans, but be the unique swan. This means you don’t have to follow the crowd. But just be your own individual swan.

I hate girls who wear make up over make up. Just because they think there ugly. When there not. Who wear make up to cover spots. But don’t realize nearly every girl has spots. Wearing make up does not make you flawless. It makes you look fake, perfect on the outside. Imperfect in the inside. You don’t have to wear make up. Is what I think. But it really doesn’t matter what I think. It matters what you think. Girls wear make up, because they believe it makes them look attractive and perfect for any boy. But a boy, who only loves you for how you look like, is not worth it. A boy who loves you for your personality, is a boy you should love. If I could have a pound for every girl who wears make up, or feels insecure about the way they look like. I would be a millionaire. Almost every girl you see wears make up, or feel insecure about the way they look like, and the girls who don’t.  Girls who be themselves. Those girls  you should be inspired to be like. I hate being judged upon.

But guess what. I don’t care. I don’t care what people judge be upon. I don’t care that I am large, or wears glasses, or have dark skin, or am not perfect. I am happy, that I can be myself, because I am not the next Selena Gomez or Naomi Campbell, because that’s not who I am. There can only be one Selena Gomez or Naomi Campbell. You know why? Because I am just me. I can’t pretend to be someone I’m not. I can only be myself, and that’s fine, because even famous people worry up how they look, or how the world will judge them. Which I think we shouldn’t judge anyone even famous people, on the way they look like, or wear.

Have you noticed that most actresses in films, or supermodels. Have light flawless skin, the perfect body, the perfect hair. Not in one film is the heroine and not perfect girl who I large, dark girl, she's always the character in the background, that nobody likes. Like in Twilight, all the characters are striking, or in the Hunger games, the characters are good looking. If the media represents the perfect girl to be with the perfect hair, perfect figure, wearing designer clothes. Then this is the image that teenage girls are shown, they look at themselves, and hate themselves. This is the image they strive to become, and sometimes become someone there not to become this image.

What Teenage girls and everybody don’t realize that is we are the perfect girl.

Perfection is Us.

Remember this.

We may not be perfect. But we are perfect in the way we can ever be.

“I'm the girl you never see,
the girl you don't look at twice.
The girl you see and just assume she's a geek.
The girl you never talk to.
The girl who's quiet, but loud.
The girl who pretends to be bubbly,
but is not.
The girl who fakes a smile.
The girl hidden behind the glasses.
The girl boys don't even look at.
The girl which girls just ignore.
I'm the girl whose not in the lime lights.
But I don't care.
Because I'm just me.”

A poem written by Me(Sabitha).
