What really happened (ON CONDITIONAL HOLD, back in the New Year!)

This is the story of Snape, Lily and the marauders. What really happened all those years ago. The story of where Petunia and Lily fell apart. The story of how Harry Potter came to be. The story of the Prince's Tale.
P.S towards the end of the book, there might be alternate endings.

4. Diagon Alley

Lily woke up, to find she had been sleeping on a wet pillow. Tears had seeped down her face all night, and they still hadn't stopped.

"Lily darling, we're going shopping today, come on princess, up and at 'em!" Her mother whispered through the blue chipped door.

"Shopping for what?" Lily groaned, wanting to stay in bed all day.

"Shopping for Hogwarts. Miss McGoggle, or whatever her name was, left us a shopping list, and a map. Apparently if we go to a pub called the leaky cauldron, ask for Tom and show him the letter, he'll show us the way to Diagon Alley, where we can buy everything you need!" Lily clambered out of bed and pulled on her clothes. Then she got down on her knees and pulled up one of the floorboards. Underneath it was her piggy bank. She counted out her life savings on the carpet. £213.99. She squashed it all into her purse, deciding she would try and convert it to whatever money the wizards and witches used. She packed a small handbag, holding a book, her phone, her purse, the letter and her sunglasses. Then she slipped on her boots and followed her mother outside. They caught the train to Leicester Square and searched all around for the Leaky Cauldron. Finally they found it.

"Excuse me, we are looking for Tom." A man, who had previously been cleaning shot glasses came out from behind the bar. The whole pub went silent, they didn't often get muggles in here.

"And what would, you want with me, Miss..."

"Evans, Lily pass me the letter." Lily did

"It's all right folks, young Lily Evans here is a witch!" Tom cheered and the whole pub erupted into talking and laughing and clapping. "This way please." Tom said directing Lily and her mother out into a small courtyard. He tapped the bricks in some sort of secret code, and the wall separated. There in front of her, was Diagon Alley. Witches and Wizards of all kind swarmed the paved paths.

"It's amazing!" Lily could barely muster up the breath to say those two words.

"It is, now come on Lily, Gringotts first I think." Mrs Evans was determined to act like any other wizarding parent on the street. The two Evans' walked towards the big white building on the other side of the street. As they entered, goblins looked up fro their work to stare at their visitors.

"Can I help you?" Squeaked a goblin sitting at the front.

"I'd like to exchange my muggle money for wizarding money." Lily said abruptly.

"Ok, empty it out in that box over there and your wizarding money will come out. How much have you got?"

"Ok, that should be, 42 Galleons, 16 Sickles and 14 Knuts. It's just that sometimes the machine makes mistakes, so if you don't get that amount, come to me" Lily and her mother went over the the box and emptied the contents of Lily's purse into it. Out came 41 Galleons, 14 Sickles and 10 Knuts. They went over to the goblin and he gave them the extra 1 Galleon, 2  Sickles and 4 Knuts they needed. Then they thanked the goblins and went to go shopping!

First Lily bought her books, all of them for 2 Galleons, including Tales of Beetle the Bard and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Then her robes, 3 Galleons, next her Potions equipment, 10 Galleons, thence to the pet store, where Lily bought herself a cat for 5 galleons, who she named Sniffles and received an owl, Twitter, from her mother as a 'Congratulations' present. Lily then had a quick browse in the Quidditch store, while her mother went next door to find her a trunk, where she bumped into a boy begging his parents to let him have a broom.

"No James, it said on the letter that first years weren't allowed."

"No!" The boy finally relented into being dragged to Madame Malkin's and Lily was able to buy a book on the rules of Quidditch, and Quidditch Through the Ages for 1 sickle each. Last on the list was a wand. Lily was looking forward to this more then anything. She sprinted all the way to Ollivanders and was trying out wands before her mother even got halfway there. About 50 wands later, Lily found one that worked.

"10 1/4 Willow, Hippogriff Talon, nice and swishy, useful for Charms work, 7 Galleons please." When they left the shop Lily went to look in the toy shop, where her mother bought her a few small things. Then they went and had lunch in a wizarding cafe.

When they got back home Lily put the 15 galleons 14 sickles and 14 knuts she had left, into a bigger purse, because the other one found wizarding money too heavy and began to pack her trunk. Her favourite casual clothes an her uniform went in first. Next her books, then some framed pictures of her and her family and friends, then a squashed teddy, who she took with her everywhere, more for memories than for comfort, then a couple of board games, then the things for her pets, bowls, toys etc. etc. Then her potions equipment, which jut left space for her handbag (still containing the things from earlier) and her coat. She decided she would keep the wand with her, just in case, she didn't know what the case would be but.....

Then Lily fell asleep, too tired to even have dinner.
