Give Me Love

Jessie Richards doesn't have the best life at home, a dead mom and an abusive father. She decides to run away. But one car crash could change her whole life.

14. Learning again.

 Marcel's P.O.V.

I took a deep, nervous breath before walking into room 143.

"Hey Jessie." I said, trying not to sound to nervous.

"Hey Marcel." she said, seeming at peace with me. Well that made me relax.

"Do you remember anything from earlier today?" I asked being very straight forward.

"Not really. The last thing I remember is that I was walking to school and the rest is a blur." she said.

"Oh. So you remember this morning?" I asked with a smirk plastered onto my face.

She giggled. "Yeah."

"Why didn't you remember me when you woke up?" I questioned.

"I dont know." she started truthfully, " I gained a lot of it back when some of the doctors started grilling me with stupid questions."

"Oh." was all I said.

Then without warning, she gasped. I looked at her confusingly. Tears were brimming at the bottom of her eyes.

"What? What is it?" I questioned, becoming worried.

"What will my dad say?" she croaked.

"You can stay with us." I offered, but she started shaking her head furiously.

"No! He will find me! Then he will just be even more angry!" she objected.

I sat down beside her on the bed and firmly grabbed her shoulders, making her look me in the eyes.

"I won't let him hurt you." I said slowly.

She seemed to be considering the thought. Then, she slowly nodded her head.

"Ok." she said.

I geuss now was the time to tell her that the hospital knew about her dad.

"Jessie." I began uneasily.

"Yes?" she answered, curiousity filling those nut-brown eyes.

I studied her features, awaiting her reaction.

I sighed before telling the news, "The hospital knows how your dad treates you and they told me earlier today that hes behind bars."

I studied her face for any type reaction. She stayed perfectly still, staring into nothingness.

I hadn't told anyone that he was in jail. Not even my mom.

I decided to snap her out of her gaze.

"Hellllooooo." I said waving my hand in front of her eyes.

She didnt stop her staring, but she did open her mouth to speak.

"He will target me when he gets out." she said. Well she wasnt wrong.

"LikeI said. I'll protect you." i said, but as soon as I said the words I regretted them.

"But what if he's worse this time?" she said, tears silently falling down her pale cheeks.

"What he hurts you? What if he hurts your mom? He has the power to literally kill me with no regrets. My life is in danger." she cried.

I wrapped my hands around her tiny frame whilst she sobbed into my shoulder.

I don't know how long we stayed like that. It was after sundown befor she had no more tears left and fell into a deep sleep.

I pulled out the couch to put it in its previous form as a bed. Honestly I think that the couch is more comfortable then that hard hospital bed, so I carried her bridal style to the weird bed-couch. When I carried her it broke my heart to feel her boney ribs poking my hand. The poor girl hadn't had a decent meal since her mom died.

I made mental plans to take her out somewhere tomorrow. Somewhere casual. From the life style she was living, she would probably feel out of place somewhere you had to dress formally.

After deciding that I would take her to Nandos, a fell a sleep on the crumbly bed.

I woke up with a terrible neck cramp. Jessie was already awake and brushing her teeth in the bathroom. I sat up and started playing on my phone, waiting for her to come out.

"Oh hey." she said when she came out and saw me awake.

"Morning." I said.

"You get to come home today." I pointed out.

"Really? What time?" she asked with an excited glow in her eyes.

I chuckled at her eager face.

"Anytime your ready." I smiled.

She blushed and looked down and back up at me, obviously trying to tell me something with her eyes. When i looked down at what she was wearing, I realized that the doctors had replaced her clothes a plastic, blue hospital gown, leaving only undergarments on underneath.

I giggled at her awkwardness and pointed to the little dresser in the cramped room.

"Third drawer." I said, answering her telepathic question.

She nodded and quickly got her clothes and rushed into the bathroom.

"Do you have a hair brush here?" Jessie asked, peeking her head shyly out of the bathroom.

"Mhm." I nodded while walking towards the dresser.

I picked out everything she might need. I handed her my hairbrush, a rubber band i had on my wrist, and a new toothbrush.

She sent me a confused glance when I handed her the packaged toothbrush.

"I-I thought that you would've needed it when you woke up." I stuttered nervously.  I didn't want to come off as weird before she gained all her memory back.

She just giggled at my awkwarrdness and walked back into the bathroom.

As I was waiting for her to come out of the bathroom again, I started getting my own self ready.

I threw on the first outfit I which were khaki's. a white undershirt, and a tan sweater vest with brown, plaid diamonds across it. Then I used some hair gel and an extra comb to start smoothing my hair over to one side.

As soon as I was done, Jessie came out of the bathroom. Her hair was pulled into a high ponytail on top of her head, swinging as she walked. She had on the same outfit she had the day of the accident, which was white skinny jeans with a flowery, blue tank top on. She looked simple. but amazing.

She walked up to me and looked at me from under her eyelashes.

"Do you care if I complain about a couple things?" she said in a childish voice.

I giggled at her.

"Well you just got out of a coma so I guess i can make an exception this time." I said dramatically.

She smiled and began.

"Well number one is that from my elbow up to my shoulder hurts on my right arm." she said while rubbing her arm.

"You broke that bone when you were hit, but it was healed when you were in the coma. I'll get some pain medication from the nurse, wait right here." I said, jogging to the phone.

Once the nurse was on her way with the medicine, I walked back a patient Jessie waiting on the couch.

"The cure is on its way." I smiled.

She smiled back.

"Thank you. And number two is that I'm STARVING." she said.

"Well I can fix that." I said while walking to the nurse that just walked in the room.

"Here is her medication." she said handing me the pills. "She needs to take one every four hours."

"Ok. Thank you." I said to the nurse while she was walking out.

I walked back to Jessie giving her the pill and  turning around to get my water off the nightstand to give to her. But when I turned back around with my water in the hands, the pill was gone.

"Where is the pill?" I asked Jessie.

"I ate it." she answered confused.

I raised my eyebrows in surprise.

"You didn't need water?" I asked.

She shook her head no.

"Oh." I said turning around.

I took in the room. It was a complete mess of my things.

"I'm gonna have to pack my bag before we can move onto your second problem." I said guiltily.

"It's ok. I'll help." she said auotmatically going to the bathroom to get my stuff out of the drawers and off the sink.

"Thanks." I called after her.

With Jessie it took about 20 minutes to get all my belongings into my bag.

"Ok, well now that I'm all packed so you want go get a bite to eat?" I asked when we were finally finished.

She nodded her head eagerly.

"Leggo!" she said bouncing out of the room, not even waiting on me.

I chuckled and followed her out.
