Dumbledore's Apprentice The First Year (COMPLETE)

Alisha Moonglow is a 12 year old girl, tortured by some cruel force of nature, but when Albus Dumbledore rescues her from the lips of a Dementor she learns she has gifts, gifts that will open doors she never knew were closed, gifts that will earn her a place in Hogwart School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This will be updated every Monday.

This is finito but I will be posting sneak peeks, diary entries, quizzes and fun stuff like that!

15. Dragons

Alisha was soon up on her feet and after a quick trip to Madame Pomfrey, was able to go for a cup of tea at Hagrid's hut. When she arrived, Hermione, Harry and Ron were already seated at the table, cracking their teeth on some of Hagrid's renowned rock cakes. Alisha sat down at looked at her feet, knowing what Hagrid was going to ask her, Dumbledore had tried earlier on that week.

"Alisha, I need you to try and remember what it was like for you before you came to Hogwarts."

"No, I can't, I won't, it hurts." Alisha burst into floods of tears.

"Aw, come here!" Said Hagrid spreading out his arms. Alisha ran up and hugged him. Hagrid beckoned to the trio who stood there awkwardly, telling them to come and help. They started patting her on the shoulder and muttering words of comfort. A few minutes later, Alisha mopped her eyes and noticed that the wooden hut unbearably hot, and that her fellow classmates were sitting as far away from the fireplace as possible.

"We'd better explain." Pointed out Hermione.

"Well, you see..." Ron started

"I know, Hagrid has a dragon."

"Yeah." Suddenly there was a loud cracking noise from behind them

"Oooh, it's hatching it's hatching!!!" Hagrid shrieked, running around like a headless chicken. He picked the egg up with his oven gloves and placed it on the table. Suddenly there was an eerie scraping noise from within and the egg split open. A baby dragon flopped onto the table. Alisha thought it looked like a blue and green crumpled umbrella. The dragon snapped its fangs at Ron's hand, leaving a ominous green mark. Ron howled with pain, and the dragon turned to Hagrid, smiling innocently.

"Aww, look he knows his mummy!" Hagrid cooed. "Hello Norbert, hello!"

"Hagrid you can't keep him." Stated Harry.

"Why not?" Hagrid asked.

"Because he bit me." Answered Ron.

"Because it's illegal!"Exclaimed Hermione

"Because it's a wild creature, it needs to feel the wind beneath its wings, the sun on its scales, the rain on its head, it needs to see lakes, castles, forests and villages, below him, not beside him, he needs the clouds below him, not above him." The dragon seemed to nod at Alisha's words.

"Ok, but how do we get rid of him?"

"Charlie's working in Romania, with dragons, he could come and collect Norbert and take him back!" Ron thought aloud.

"But what if we're seen carrying an illegal dragon?" They were all too absorbed in their conversation to even notice that Draco Malfoy was peering through the curtains.

A few days later, Ron had been sent to the hospital ward, as had Amaris, who had a very bad cough, and the reply from Charlie had arrived. At Midnight on the Saturday, Hermione and Harry, with Norbert tight in there arms, with a rag over his mouth, slipped the Invisibility Cloak over their heads and climbed the stairs to the Astronomy Tower. Then, a cry of,

"DETENTION!" made them freeze in their tracks "And 20 points from Slytherin." McGongall yelled, the two friends sighed with relief, it was only Draco Malfoy. Finally they reached the top and pulled the cloak off. A figure stood in one corner.

"Thank goodness." Whispered Alisha "I've been waiting ages." The three of them sat on the wall and waited. Suddenly, three figures on broomsticks swept down from the sky. One of them grabbed Norbert, shoved him into a cage and the others helped heave him onto the broomstick and tie the cage on. Norbert was quite heavy, for a dragon. They waved goodbye and descended the stairs again. When they reached the bottom they were met by a very angry looking Professor McGonagall and a smirking Argus Filch.

"Well, we are in trouble aren't we?" The cloak was still lying crumpled at the top of the tower.
