3. Up All Night

I turned off the movie once it ended. I sighed, put my feet on the couch and laid down so my head was resting on Zayn's lap.

After a couple minutes of silence I asked, "Zayn, what would you do if I said I did want to run away?"

He looked surprised at first but quickly adjusted his "I would probably come with you." he smirked.

"I'm serious Zayn." I said staring across the room, I felt his eyes on my face.

"Did you change your mind? Do you want to?"

"I don't know," I said after a minute, "I mean, I don't want to do this, I really don't, but I can't just leave. I think my family deserves and explanation." I said as I looked at Zayn and a few tears left my eyes.

"Hey, don't cry," He said wiping away my tears, "We don't have to leave if you don't want to. I'll always be here, even after you marry him."

I never old him I was moving. "Zayn," I said on the verge of hysteria, I couldn't look him in the face anymore, "I'm moving."

His face showed confusion, he was befuddled, "What... What are you talking about?" He almost yelled.

"I'm moving, Zayn," I said now crying, "To America. After the wedding. We are packed already. We are leaving the day after the wedding."

"You're leaving in less than two days?" He whispered now, pain on his face.

"Zayn, I'm sorry. I should have-" he cut me off.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"I don't know. I didn't know how and it never came up. I didn't want to hurt you."

He stood up, "You didn't want to hurt me?" his voice was rising.

"Zayn, I'm sorry!" I yelled as he started walking towards the door, "Wait!" I grabbed his arm, he spun around and I've never seen him so mad before, or hurt, or betrayed.

Without saying anything, he turned around and left. I let him go. I wanted to chase after him but I couldn't. He probably wouldn't want to see me anyways.

I slowly trudged back into the living room. I sat on the couch and hugged my knees. Outside it was raining. Great, perfect thinking weather, I didn't want to think about anything right now.

I started crying, not because of the wedding, but because of Zayn. I thought I would at least have a couple more hours with him, but now, I'm not sure.

After about two hours of sitting on his couch, I picked up my phone and looked at the time; 11:45. I called Zayn. No answer. I tried again, but it went straight to voicemail again.

I tried one more time, "God Dammit, Zayn!" I screamed, throwing my phone across the room when he didn't answer.

I didn't feel like sleeping, or watching TV, or eating, so I just sat on the couch. I sat there until I heard my phone ringing. Hoping it would be Zayn, I ran over to it and picked it up. I cracked my screen, wonderful. It wasn't Zayn, It was my cousin Molly. She had the whole day planned out before the wedding. Going out to eat, getting our nails done, getting our hair done, and going through the routine again.

I looked at the time and saw that it was 8:30. Did I stay up all night? I wasn't even tired. I declined the call and took my phone back to the couch incase he called.

A couple minutes later I got another call. Molly again.

Next my mother called. Then they took turns calling. I swear I had half the wedding party calling me. I declined all of them, only waiting for Zayn's, which never came.

At about 10:30, I was just getting up to go to the bathroom when I heard the front door open.

"Zayn?" I called running to the door.

I stopped short when I saw that it was Benjamin.

"Ben, what are you doing here?" I ask surprised.

"What does it look like I'm doing here. I knew you would be here. What were you doing here, huh?" he grabbed my arm and pulled me out to his car.

"Nothing, we got into a fight." I said quietly, not wanting him to hurt me.

"Did you have sex with him too?" he asked once we started moving.

"No!" I yelled in disbelief. "Why would I? He is just my friend."

"Whatever, just know that when we are married, you are never going to see him again."

"That's not fair!" I yelled again, wanting to cry. But I couldn't show him how sensitive Zayn was as a topic, "You're just afraid that I would pick him over you." I said quietly staring out the window, I saw as we pulled into the church parking lot.

"What did you just say to me?" he reached over and grabbed the collar of my shirt, pulling me towards him, "If you ever talk to me like that again, you are in big trouble. And you are not going to say a word about this." he spat through his teeth.

I started crying in fear of what he'd do to me. When he let go of me, I got out of the car and ran into the church. I kept my head down and ran up the stairs, past my mother and into the bathroom. I locked the door just before I heard the knocking.

"Go away." I said, thinking it was Ben.

"Sweetie, is everything all right." me mother asked, not sounding like she really cared, just nervous that the wedding was still going as planned.

I didn't know how to answer that, of course everything wasn't all right! But, I didn't want to lie to her. I was about to speak when somebody else did.

"Good morning Ms. Pederson. Ab is really shook up, she just got into a fight with Zayn, I witnessed the whole thing, it was really heart-wrenching to watch. I wanted to interfere but I figured I better let them work it out. I hope she will feel better by this afternoon. I will give Zayn a call and see if he still wants to come."

That whole story was made up, he didn't see any of it. And my mother believed him! He wasn't going to call Zayn either, they hated each other.

He must've left because he wasn't talking anymore.

"Sweetie, come out whenever you're ready. Just make sure you are in the sanctuary in an hour, we're rehearsing again. I heard her heels click against the tile flooring and I knew that I was alone.

I picked up the phone and dialed Zayn again. This time I left a message, "Zayn please come back. I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I can't do this thing without you. Please, I'm sorry."

People kept checking in on me every ten minutes or so. About the fifth time somebody came, it was my mother. I heard the clicking of her shoes on the floor again but before the could reach the door, I opened it and walked out.

"Oh, it's a relief to see you functioning again, Dear. Let's go, it's time to rehearse." she said, forgetting what I said last time.

"Mom, I said I didn't want to rehearse." I said quietly, not having much energy in me.

"Just one more time? Please? For me?"

"Fine." I said not putting up any fight.

I went through the motions of the wedding not saying anything, just nodding my head or going where I was told to.

We got done rehearsing at about 2:00. I had two hours before I was getting married. I was rushed downstairs so I could get my make-up done. Guess I wasn't getting my nails done and somebody here was just going to have to do my hair.

It took about an hour for everything to be caked on my face and my hair to be put up. The next thirty minutes was spent trying to find a new escort for me to walk down the aisle with. It originally was supposed to be Zayn, but obviously he's not here. We finally agreed on someone named Matt. I guess he is my third cousin or something, I wasn't really paying attention.

"The place is filling up nicely!" Molly said coming back into the room with me, "What's wrong? You should be happy, you are getting married!" she said trying to cheer me up.

"I am happy," I lied and faked a smile, I don't think she bought it, "I just wish Zayn was here to walk me down." That part was true, I wish he was here.

She decided not to push the subject any further, seeing as I was about to cry, ruining her masterpiece on my face.

"It's time to go!" my mother yelled excitedly as she came through the door.

I was ushered out the door, up the stairs, down the hall and just around the corner from where I was going to enter the sanctuary to walk down the aisle.

I met Matt there and all the bridesmaids and groomsmen. The music started and one by one, each couple left and walked down the aisle. I took Matt's arm just before it was our turn. My heart was beating fast I my breathing was shallow.

"Relax." Matt whispered in my ear.

I tried to do what he said and I took a deep breath. It helped a little.

We rounded the corner and I could see all the faces on me.
