2. Movie Night

"You cheater!" I yelled as I shoved a nugget into my mouth.

We were neck and neck at about eight nuggets each. I was easily keeping up with him until I reached fourteen. I just couldn't take another bite, what was I thinking challenging him? I must be going crazy.

"I give up! You win!" I yelled with my mouth full and threw my hands in the air.

"Yes! I knew it! Twenty dollars please." he said smugly.

"What? That wasn't the deal! I don't owe you anything."

"I know, it was worth a shot," he said laughing, "So how many did you eat?"

"Like fourteen I think. You?" I asked.

"Sixteen. It's a good thing you quit, I think you were about to win." He winked.

"Oh, I bet I was." I said sarcastically while laughing. "Are you done with these?" I asked pointing at the nuggets.

"Yeah, these little things are actually pretty filling." He said leaning back and rubbing his stomach.

"Oh, you have a food baby!" I yelled jumping at him. "When is it due?" I asked feeling his stomach.

"Probably later tonight. I'll show it to you if you want." He laughed.

"No thanks, I'd rather not." I chuckled getting up to dump the tray.

When I got back to the table Zayn wasn't there. I sat down thinking that he was probably just in the bathroom.

After about ten minutes I started to worry. Where the heck did he go? Was he delivering his baby already? I chuckled to myself when I thought of that.

I started absentmindedly staring out the window. I saw two guys yelling at each other and I was really into the fight. I watched as the blonde guy threw a punch at the dark-haired guy. Then the fight really broke out.

I got tired of waiting for Zayn and decided that I would go to the car to wait for him. Anything to get away from this annoying cashier who kept glaring at me.

As I was walking out of the building, I could hear what the guys were saying. They were fighting about a girl, typical boys.

My head shot around to the guys again when I saw a twin to my car. It was parked right next to mine and the only difference was the color, this one was bright orange. The only person who I know that has that car is Benjamin.

"Knock it off!" I screamed and ran over to Zayn and Benjamin throwing punches at each other, "Stop it right now!" I screamed again when they ignored me.

"Stay out of this Ab!" Ben yelled at me.

I tried pulling Zayn away, and I tried pulling Ben away. I even tried screaming at the top of my lungs. Nothing worked. I stepped in between them. Right as I stepped, Ben swung. His fist connected with my jaw.

I fell to the ground in pain, "Ah!" I screamed holding the side of my face.

Immediately they were both at my side.

"Abi are you okay?" Zayn asked.

Ben grabbed my arm and tried to pick me up off the ground, "Let go of me!" I yelled.

"Ab, you shouldn't have gotten in the way like that, I had it under control." Ben said.

My jaw dropped in disbelief, "Are you kidding me? Zayn was about to beat you into a pulp!" I looked at Zayn and saw that he was just starting to get a black eye. I looked at Ben and saw that he had a fat lip, a black eye, a bruise on his cheek and just above his left eyebrow was split open.

"Come on, we're going back to my place." Ben said pulling harder on my arm.

"Stop it Ben! I'm going to my house. I'll see you tomorrow," I said standing up, "Let's go, Zayn."

Zayn obediently followed behind me and got into the car when I did without saying a word. I watched Ben stand on the sidewalk until I pulled out of the parking space and he stormed angrily to his car.

I drove back through town, the same way I had come.

"Why are you so quiet?" I asked Zayn, who was staring straight ahead.

"Oh, nothing." He muttered quietly.

"Come on, Zayn. You know you can tell me anything right?"

"I know." He said and looked at me.

"Please?" I asked giving him puppy-dog face.

"It's just, I'm just, Ugh! I'm so mad that you have to marry a dick like that and you don't even have a say in it! It's just not right. You deserve so much better! It just makes me so mad!" Zayn vented.

"I don't want to marry him, you know." I whispered.

"Then why are you?" He asked shocked.

"What do you expect me to do? I have no say in it."

"Then don't say anything. Just leave. We can run away and nobody will ever know what happened to us." He said completely serious.

"Zayn," I sighed, "You know I can't do that. I can't leave my family behind. And I can't do that to him, I know he is a complete asshole but he doesn't deserve that." This isn't the first time he suggested that we run away.

"Abi, your only eighteen! You just graduated from high school two months ago! You haven't even had the chance to go out and enjoy life, you haven't even gone to college yet! You are going to be stuck with this guy that is six years older than you for the rest of your life." Zayn argued.

We were in Zayn's driveway now, I turned the engine off and leaned my head against the seat. I closed my eyes and sighed, "I know." I was on the verge of tears now. I was going to be married in twenty hours, moving to America in 48 hours. I would be able to talk to Zayn through emails and see him on Skype, but I would never be able to see him in person, to touch him again, to smell his sweet cologne. I would never see my only best friend again.

A sudden wave of emotions came over me, "Zayn," I cried, "I don't want to do this! I'm not ready! I don't want to move to the other side of the world and leave my family behind. I don't want to leave you! You're my best friend. I don't want to have kids before I'm twenty. I want to marry someone who I actually love!" I bawled like a child.

The next thing I knew I was in Zayn's arms, he was stroking my hair, knowing exactly how to calm me when I'm upset.

"Let's go inside?" Zayn suggested, letting go of me.

We got out of the car and walked up to his door. I stopped when he opened the door.

"Aren't your parents home?" I whispered, peeking my head through the door.

"Nah, they are at a funeral in Ireland." he said, shrugging.

"Why didn't you go?" I said while following him through the door.

"Oh, no reason." he shrugged again and looked at the ring on my left hand.

"You wanted to come to the wedding didn't you?"

"Yeah," he admitted, "I can't miss my best friends big day!" he said in a cheery tone.

"I wish I could miss it." I muttered under my breath walking to the living room.

"What was that?" he asked.

"Nothing." I said, looking back at him.

I sat on the couch and waited for Zayn to come. He stopped in the kitchen for something. I looked through his movies, it's going to be a movie night. I found the one I was looking for. Insidious.

"We are not watching that." Zayn said coming back with his hands full of snacks.

"Oh, please, I love this movie! I haven't seen it in soooo long!" I begged him.

"But, no, fine." he surrendered.

"Don't worry. I'll keep you safe." I winked at him and patted the cushion next to me for him to sit down.

"Isn't this going to give you nightmares? You need your sleep." he said and sat down.

"I won't be having nightmares from this, what's coming tomorrow is more horrific." I said and huffed out a breath.

"Let's not think about that. Let's enjoy this night we have left. And watch scary movies until I cry." He joked.

I smiled at him.

"There's that smile I love."
