6. Leaving

"Is he dead?" I asked the police officer. I wasn't crying anymore, I was just dazed.

"I don't think so, I did shoot him in the abdomen but his heart is still beating," he had his fingers on Ben's neck, "the paramedics are on their way up now."

I heard the pounding of footsteps on the stairs. Four paramedics rushed into the room, three ran over to Ben, and one came to us, "Sir, Ma'am, if I could have you come with me please. We are going to need to check everything out, make sure you are okay." He said letting us go through the door first.

We walked down the stairs and to the open front door where I saw the window smashed beside it, "Ben did this?" I asked.

"Yes, we believe that's how he got into the house." Zayn and I walked outside and saw people already coming to see what happened. They gasped when they saw who it was walking out of the house, Zayn Malik of One Direction.

There were police officers barricading the front yard, two ambulances parked in the lawn, and about five police cars scattered throughout the yard and on the street.

I stumbled on the front steps, immediately Zayn's hands were around my waist, and the paramedic's were on my shoulders.

"Are you okay to walk?" Zayn whispered to me.

"I think so." I said, not entirely sure myself.

Zayn helped me walk to the ambulance where we both sat down and the paramedic started taking our blood pressure.

"Zayn, I'm sorry," I said the emotions finally getting to me, "I should've just run away with you, and none of this would've happened."

"Abi, what are you apologizing for? You didn't know that this would happen. You didn't know that I was going to crash your wedding. You didn't know Ben would do this. It isn't your fault." He said pulling me into a hug.

"Excuse me, what did you say that man's name was?" the paramedic asked me.

"Um, Benjamin. Benjamin Davis." I replied a little confused as to why he would want to know.

"You're kidding, right?" I just looked at him confused, "He married my sister. He abused her so bad, physically and mentally, that to this day, she still is taking therapy. He divorced her three years ago, after he took all her money. She's better now but she hasn't even gone on a date with anybody, she is too afraid that it will happen again." The paramedic said shaking his head.

I just looked at Zayn, "How did you know that he did all that when you came to the wedding?"

"When I left, I did some research on him. I wanted to make sure I knew, and you knew, who you were really marrying. I couldn't let a complete stranger come into your life and then have you move halfway across the world with him. I just wouldn't allow it. I finished researching about an hour before your wedding and I drove as fast as I could. I was in the next city over, I didn't know if I would make it. But it seems like I did, and right on time too," he chuckled, then he was serious, "and I'm sorry that I left last night. I guess I kind of over reacted, I understand why you didn't tell me, I just wish you would've. But it's over now, the past is the past, there is nothing we can do to change it. I'm just glad that I'm here with you right now."

"Okay, you guys are free to go, everything looks okay. Just take it easy for awhile and try to stay out of trouble." the paramedic told us.

Zayn hopped off of the ambulance and then helped me off.

"Take care." Zayn said to the paramedic as we walked to my car. "You know, the cops will be investigating this place and we will probably have to go in leave a statement." Zayn reminded me as I got in the passenger seat.

"Then, let's leave. We can just drive away right now and go wherever. I don't care, you pick. Any place is fine." I said when he got in his seat. "My mom is going to have a fit when she gets home." I laughed.

"Oh, I wouldn't doubt it. You are going to be the first person she calls. We can leave, right now, but it won't be that hard for the police to track me down, you know."

"Oh yeah," I sighed, "Well, you have celebrity power, can't you like tell them that you don't want to leave a statement, the event caused you to much stress or something, I don't know."

"I'll see what I can do." He said and backed out of the driveway. I'm surprised the police aren't making us go down to the station right now. "So, where do you want to go?"

"Home?" I asked a little confused.

"Well, I didn't think that you would like living with my parents," He hesitated, "but we can go there if you want."

"Where else would we go?" I asked still confused.

"Well, I have an idea, but it will take about three and a half hours. Do you want to know where it is?"

"No, surprise me. I don't care where it is. It could be in Antarctica for all I care. As long as we are together, I'm home." I smiled at him.

He just smiled back, "Are you hungry?" He asked after my stomach growled.

"Just a bit."

"Well, where would you like to eat?"

"Ooh, I have an idea, but it will take about fifteen minutes to get there. Do you want to know where it is?" I asked repeating his question.

He laughed when I said that, "Nope, surprise me." he said and winked.

"Okay then, turn left here!" I shouted causing him to take a sharp turn. I had to grab the handle above the door, the 'Oh Shit!' handle, to keep from falling over.

"Now keep going straight until you get to 5th. Turn right. Oops, I meant left." I said after he turned, purposely giving him the wrong direction.

"Are you sure you know where you're taking us?" he asked.

"I'm positive!"

"You are pregnant?! What! When are you due?" He smiled, he was joking.

"Oh you should know, probably later tonight, if I have to go. I could show you if you'd like." I repeated our conversation that we had at McDonald's yesterday.

"Please? I bet he will look just like you!" He laughed.

"Zayn! That's mean! Take it back!" I said chuckling myself.

"Alright fine. You're right, it won't look like you."

"Thank you." I said.

"It will look better than you." Zayn said between laughs.

"You are so immature!" I yelled trying to be serious, but very quickly laughing myself. "Wait! You have to turn here!" I screamed. Zayn quickly turned, almost doing a U-turn since he already drove past the turn. We almost caused an accident, causing a bunch of horns to go off. I just laughed at him.

"That wasn't funny, Abi. We could've died! There was a semi right behind us!" Zayn said panicking as it flew past us.

"But we didn't, so it's all good." I said still chuckling quietly.

"Next time, when you are lying in a hospital bed, let me know if it's all good." he said rudely.

"Okay I will." I said not showing him that I was bothered by his attitude. "Oh, and there won't be a next time. We're here!" I said jumping out of the car before he even put it in park.

I ran inside while Zayn looked for a spot to park. I jumped in line, probably cutting off the people at the end, I didn't know if they were waiting to order or if they were just waiting for their food. Oh well, it's not like it's the end of the world.

I was the next person in line when I noticed the cashier. It was that blonde that was here yesterday. This should be interesting. Good thing Zayn wasn't in here yet, where was he anyways? I looked out the window and saw him still driving around looking for a parking spot.

I was next to order, "Hi, could I get two medium drinks and 40 chicken nuggets please?"
