Pulling apart the curtain was the hardest part, since she had so much light to show the world.
But from the moment I saw her, I knew she would have an effect on my life. Maybe not at first, but underneath, I saw the beauty bright enough to light a thousand lanterns. the lanterns that would lift her up.
Catherine, the name worth of a million dreams.

7. chapter 6

Catherine's POV:

Why 35 years?

I'm very confused, since he only attempted at murder, he was stopped before he could kill that man.

So why 35 years in prison?

Had there been something else?

All the years in which I would come home from school and he wasn't there, would he be out planing his next assault?

I had asked, and asked, but the only person who seemed to no anything was him.

This was the main struggle of my life right now, I couldn't think of what was going on.

It was as if my mind exploded into a frenzy, in which I couldn't process anything.

I was scared.

As I sat on my bed, staring at my wall, I finnally gave into the fact that I was scared.

These are the moments in which I wished my mom were still here.

I was woken up by my aunt, who asked me to go get her some mini hotdogs for her party, which I was strictly trying to avoid.

But I still got up and went to the store.

And I cried on my way their.

Makeup free, wearing sweatpants, I didn't care.

I walked into that store, and bought the little hot dogs.

"Catherine!" A voice said.

I turned and saw Jackson, football player at my old school.

He also had a reputation I being a jerk.

As soon as I saw him, I ran I dropped the hotdogs and ran.

Ran past my car, ran past all the puddles, ran past other stores until I hid behind a telephone booth.

Footsteps followed, I didn't dare breathe.

Jackson's sleeve caught my eye, and I realized there was no use in hiding, so I stepped out, and waited for him to start pushing me around.

Instead he held out his jacket.

"It's raining," he said.

"So take it."

I followed his command and wrapped it around my shoulders, even though I was already wet from the rain.

"Please be safe." He said to me, and then turned and walked back to his car.

"Wait!" I yelled.

He turned around, and I greeted him with a smile.

"Why are you being so nice?" I said.

"It doesn't matter. Just please stay safe." He got into his car, and rolled down the window,

"I know about your dad. Please don't do anything stupid like that. We can't lose another soul."

I was so confused, how do he know?

What did my dad do?

As I was about to go but some more mini hotdogs, his voice made me turn around.

"Oh," he said interrupting me.

"Keep the jacket."
