Pulling apart the curtain was the hardest part, since she had so much light to show the world.
But from the moment I saw her, I knew she would have an effect on my life. Maybe not at first, but underneath, I saw the beauty bright enough to light a thousand lanterns. the lanterns that would lift her up.

6. Chapter 5

Catherine's POV:

Lately I've been able to work on my dancing.

My aunt has a really big patio, and most days I'll just go out their and dance.

I told my aunt about cheering. She understood how great it would have been if I made the team, but ever since the move, it's be different.

One, I go to a new school. No one I know goes their. Yes, I do have people who say hi to me in the hallways, but other than that, I'm usually alone.

I don't mind though, I like having time to myself.

I've always been that way, even when I was little I kept to myself.

I was to busy thinking to myself that I didn't even notice lilac crawl under the poles in the middle of the patio, and walk around the yard.

I was thinking about the county jail, as usual.

I couldn't get the picture out of my head.

It's was freezing in there.

I saw so many people crying, deviated, as if they just realized their lives would never be the same.

When I walked up to my dad's cell, I couldn't even look at him.

Instead, all I said was "why".

I started tearing up. I couldn't bear the fact that the person I gave my trust to, would go and abandon me.

It felt awful.

I wiped my eyes with the softer part of my jacket, hoping no one would suspect I was weak enough to cry.

As I turned around, I noticed lilac climbing through the opening of the hole in the fence.

"Lilac, come back!" I yelled.

I got up as she darted out the yard.

Running outside of the patio, into the street, I realized I couldn't see lilac.

"LILAC?" I yelled.

I heard footsteps behind my as a tall boy in a sweater handed me my cat.

"Thank you so much! She usually doesn't run away like that!" I said, looking down into lilacs blue eyes.

"What am I going to do with you?" I say jokingly to lilac as she nuzzles up against my face.

A small shadow appears at the bogs feet, and soon, a smaller cat jumps out.

The boy picks up the cat and says,

"Our cats must like each other, especially if yours is willing to go outside in the cold." He laughs.

I laugh along to, finally getting a good look at the boys face.

He is wearing a pulled back hat, with small hairs poking out.

He is also wearing a long blue sweater, with jeans and some sneakers.

"I like your shirt" the boys says, breaking my from my slight gaze.

"Oh, this? Thanks" I say looking down at my pink Floyd t-shirt.

"I'm sorry about lilac," I said.

"No problem, oh hey! I never got your name..." He says.

"Oh, my names is Catherine." I say.

"Cool, I'm Harry." He says, and the. He walks off.

His mum meets him at the door, where he was led inside.

I decided not to go back to the patio, but instead to my room, where I fell asleep thinking about cats & pulled back hats.
