Reunited, but broken hearted

Annie Jenkins moved away from Holmes Chapel about ten years ago. She left behind the five best friends she had ever had, and the one boy she fell in love with--Marcel, or Harry, Styles. But all too soon, Annie and Harry grow apart.

She hasn't seen Harry in a decade. But when her old school, Holmes Chapel High School, sends her a letter saying that she's invited to a reunion, she, thanks to the pushing of her roommate, Marie, heads down to Holmes Chapel, where she is reunited with Harry again. But the man she meets at the reunion isn't the sweet boy she fell in love with ten years ago. Something happened...and Annie is determined to find out what. You may want to read My Friend Marcel first. Otherwise you're going to be pretty confused.

9. New job...maybe

AN: Hey-hey, my One Direction sisters-and-the-occasional-brother!   Haha, so this is what I came up with for the next chapter in Reunited.  Please review!  Also—I entered the Story of My Life competition… please vote for me! Love you all! :*

I turned to Harry. We stared at each other for a minute or two, then he rushed forward and grabbed me in a hug. I hugged him back, hard, feeling tears making their way down my cheek. He pulled me tight against him, and I felt him kiss the top of my head. “I love you, Gwendolyn Ann Jenkins.” He whispered, just loud enough for only me to hear.

“I love you too, Marcel Harold Styles.” I responded.

“AAAAAAAAANNNNNNIIIIIIEEEEEE! WAKE UPPPPP!” I bolted awake.  Thor yelped and crashed off the bed.  I glanced at the clock, and groaned.  I was late for work. Again.  I yawned and slapped my feet down on the wooden floor, and walked into the kitchen.  Marie looked over at me. “You're late.”

“Long night.” I yawned.

“Good thing I called I sick for you!” Marie smiled, and I sighed, plopping down at the counter.

“So you woke me up because…”

“Because…” Marie bounced on her toes, then burst into a grin. “Zayn is taking me out to dinner tonight, and I needed to celebrate, and there was no one to celebrate with!”

“I hate you.” I groaned.

“I love you, too.” Marie grinned, and skipped around the counter, unable to contain her enthusiasm.  I lifted my head and glared at her as she did a horrible version of an Irish jig.

“You suck at dancing.” I snapped.

“Why, thank you!” Marie stuck her tongue out at me. “And there really isn’t much to an Irish jig. So I cant suck that badly.”

“You forget I know an Irish guy. Trust me.  He used to do those stupid little dances all the time, and they never looked like that.” I cocked my head at her. “You look like you're trying to do Harlem Shake, Gangnam Style, and twerk all at once.”

“Haters gonna hate, yo.” Marie flashed a gansta sign, and I sighed.  It was gonna be a long morning.

I was just driving around, trying to find someplace that needed my job expertise.  I had gone to school for teaching, but yet there I was, serving people coffee.  I remembered Liam saying something about working at a small school, and randomly I wondered if they needed a substitute teacher.  It wasn’t what I went to school for, but at least it was close.  I quickly found the school, and walked in. I found the office, and knocked on the door gently.  “It’s open!” A girl’s voice called. I opened the door, and smiled at the girl behind the desk.  She looked kind of Middle Eastern, kind of like Zayn.  She had long braided brown hair, and chocolate colored eyes. “Hello, welcome to our school. How may I help you today?” She asked, flashing a grin. Her smile looked like Zayn’s, too.  I cocked my head.

“Are you, by chance, related to Zayn Malik?”

“Yeah, he’s my cousin…” She raised an eyebrow. “How do you know him?”

“Oh, I went to high school with him.  You just kind of look the same.” She tucked a flyaway strand of hair behind her ear.

“Well, there’s no need to get insulting!” She said with a grin, and I laughed. “I’m Shay Malik. How can I help you?”

“Actually, I was wondering if you needed a substitute teacher. I’m a little rusty, but—“

“Actually, we do need a teacher.  One of our drama leaders is in need of an assistant! Are you all right in that department?” Shay asked.

“That was my major, as a matter of fact!”

“Well, perfect!” Shay grinned again. “There is the small matter of paperwork, background checks, reviews from past employers, that sort of thing. But it won’t take every long. Do you have your resume?”

“I do.” I handed her my folder, and she glanced through it.

The door opened up behind me, and I heard a familiar voice saying, “Stay here, Declan. Why am I even saying this—you should know the drill by now.” Liam Payne walked through the door, and did a double take.  “Annie?”

“Hey, Liam.” I waved, and Shay looked up.

“Hey, Li—what do you need?”

“Declan.” Liam said wearily.  Shay sighed, and nodded.

“Of course.  Here for his weekly talk with the principal. I’ll tell him.”

“What are you doing here, Ann?” Liam asked me.

“Applying for a job.” I smiled. “I was getting pretty sick of coffee.” Liam laughed, as the bell rang. He stuck his head out the door.

“That bell does not apply to you, Declan.”

“Aw, come on, Mr. P…” a boy whined.

“Nope. Stay.” Liam backed in again, and Shay glanced up at me.

“Annie, I’ll give you a ring if everything goes well. Is this your cell or home phone?”

“My cell.”

“Okay, we’ll be calling you within the week.” Shay smiled, and Liam grinned at me.

“We could be co-workers!” He beamed.

“Fun.” I said dryly. Liam punched my arm.

“Do you want me to show her around?” he asked Shay.

“Go right ahead, Li. As long as Kat is okay with it.”

“Oh, right! Katrina! You still haven’t met her yet!” Liam grabbed my arm. “C’mon. You're gonna love her!”

AN; Sorry for the boring filler chapter…. It’ll get better next chap, I promise!
