26. Laura's POV

It was time; finally after two days of just waiting in my hotel room, it was time. The day started off with me running around my room trying to get dressed. My result was dark blue skinny jeans, a lace long sleeve top and some black high heel boots. Along with Louis’ favourite jumper and the necklace he gave me.

Ten minutes later I was in the lobby; Jay had told me that she would come pick me up at ten o’clock. She had said and I quote “No point wasting time in a cab, bored when I don’t mind coming to get you.”

I sighed, looking at the time on my phone. It was now 5 minutes to 10 and Jay still wasn’t here, to say I was nervous would be an understatement I was terrified, I didn’t know how well this was going to go.

“Laura!”

A smile came to my face as I was Jay and Lottie walking towards me. “Hey. Okay, let’s do this.” I said, jumping up, making Lottie and Jay laugh.

Twenty minutes later, I was out the front of Louis’ parents’ house, Jay had gone in five minutes ago and told me to wait for ten minutes with Lottie before I knocked on the door.

“I’m shaking.” I mumbled to Lottie, showing her my hands. She laughed, shaking her head at me. “Why? Everythings going to be fine.” Lottie replied before I handed her my phone to record the whole surprise.

“Okay, let’s go.” I said, walking up to the door and knocking while Lottie started recording. It was pretty cold outside so that might have been another reason to why I was shaking.

A few minutes later Jay opened the door and smiled at me before pulling me in for a hug. I pulled back and followed her inside, Lottie following behind us with my phone.

Louis was in the lounge room, his three other sisters were all piled on top of him while they played Mario kart. I tried my best to keep from laughing at the sight as Jay cleared her throat to get his attention

“Laura’s sent you a present too, Louis. It’s just arrived,” Jay announced. Louis’ head whipped around and his eyes were wide, excited… and I stepped out from behind his mother. Before I could even say anything, Louis was up and over the coffee table and tackled me onto the couch. I screamed at the sudden impacted but it soon changed to laughter as Louis wrapped his arms around my waist.

“Happy Birthday!” Jay shouted, and I shot my thumbs up at the camera before Lottie stopped it and placed it on the coffee table for me.

“Happy Birthday, Lou.” I mumbled into his ear as I felt tears roll down my cheeks.

“Oh my god!! I missed you!!” I heard him say, his voice muffled by my shoulder.

The room was silent so I was guessing that Jay had taken the girls out of the room while Louis and I caught up. Finally, he pulled back from the hug, his arms staying wrapped around my waist.

“I missed you too,” I said, looking into his eye. They glistened in the light, I knew he would cry and I could tell that the life was back in his eyes now. All the times he would Skype me his eyes wouldn’t have the spark in them that they had when he was actually with me.

I wrapped my arms around his neck, my hands going to his hair as I pulled him to me and kissed him. Fireworks and bombs, anything you could think of exploded. A smile formed on my face as he kissed back with lust and passion. We had a bit of a heated make-out session on the couch, before we pulled away both of us breathing heavily.

“I thought you were coming next week.” Louis said, still holding me as if he thought that I would disappear. “Well, remember that day when your mum called your phone and I answered it? Well, she helped me with this and when I got my passport I changed the date of my flight to the Friday. Your mum was in on this the whole time and she’s been really nice, she’s like a second mum to me now.” I smiled, my mind going over the talks that Jay and I had over the past few days.

“Speaking of which, Jay didn’t you say you were going to show me Louis’ baby photos?” I asked, smirking at Louis as Jay walked in with some photo books.

“Oh no, please not now.”

I giggled quietly to myself as I watched Louis put his face into his hands. “Just leave them there for now Jay, we can look through them later. I think Louis and I are just going to go up to his room and talk for a bit.” I said, watching Louis from the corner of my eye.

Louis lifted his head out of his hands and looked at me, raising an eyebrow, his eyes shining with mischief.

Jay laughed and nodded her head at me. The moment Louis saw this he grabbed my hand and pulled me up the stairs and into his room.

“A bit eager aren’t you,” I laughed, sitting on his bed as he closed the door.

“Well, I’ve missed you even if we did talk almost every day.” Louis smirked, lying down next to me on his bed.

I sighed and layed down next to him, resting my head on his chest as he wrapped his arms around my waist and held my closer to him. I had missed the feeling of his arms around me and it had taken me a while to get use to his arms being there.

“Ok, now I’m bored.” I said, looking up at Louis as I rested my arms on his chest.

“I think we can fix that.” Louis smirked, flipping us over so he was now on top of me. I smiled at, my eyes going from his to his lips and back. Before I knew what was happening I felt Louis’ lips on mine.

I smiled into the kiss as I wrapped my arms around his neck, my hands going to his hair. Our lips moved in sync with each other, sparks and fireworks were going off. Louis pulled away from my lips and trailed kisses down my neck. Suddenly, Louis takes his jumper that I’m wearing off throwing it to the side. I gasp as I feel something cold touch my chest, I look down and see that it’s the necklace that Louis gave me in his letter.

“You’re wearing it…” Louis said, picking it up in his finger.

“I never take it off. It’s the one thing- besides your jumper- that I have but it has more meaning to me than your jumper.” I smile.

Louis looks up at me a smile on his face as he leans down and kisses me.

-[-]-

It was now the day before Kate was flying over here. The past week had gone by so fast. Louis had taken me out and showed me around Doncaster, we even went up to London and had a walk around there. Christmas Day was great, we spent it with Louis’ family and I got to meet his grandparents, they were so lovely. We had a roast for tea that I had helped Jay make, even though she told me not to but I didn’t listen to her like normal.

Apparently, Jay had gotten me some things for Christmas. She had said that ‘just because you’re surprising Louis doesn’t mean that you should go without any presents on Christmas day.’

I had laughed at that but then thanked her for everything she had done. Lottie and I had gotten closer during the week, we had gone out a few times together telling Louis that we needed a girl’s day; he didn’t like how his sister was stealing me from him but had let us go in the end, after a bit of help from Jay and a threat or two from me.

Right now, I was lying on Louis’ bed bored out of my mind; Louis had gone somewhere before I had even woken up. I had woken up to a note on his pillow saying that he had to go out for a few but he would be back before I woke up but he wasn’t, I had woken up at ten o’clock and it was now almost one in the afternoon. I was starting to worry.

Sighing, I got up from the bed and walked downstairs, no one else was home. I think Jay had taken the girls out for a movie or something.

I sat down on the couch and turned the TV on, putting Disney channel on while I cuddled the cushion. My phone was on the coffee table after I had left it there while I had gone for a shower earlier.

Suddenly, my phone started ringing. Looking at the caller ID, I sighed in relief before I answered it.

“Louis, where are you? I woke up and you weren’t there.” I said, putting the phone to my ear.

“I’m sorry, love. I had to do something this morning.”

“Louis, tell Laura I say hi.” I heard what sounded like Niall say in the background.

“Are you with Niall?” I asked confusion in my voice. I heard him sigh into the phone before tell Niall to shut up.

“Yeah, I am. I’m about to leave anyway.” He said, trying to sound sorry.

“Don’t worry about it. I’m going out in a minute anyway, I’ll see you later Louis.” I told him before I hung up on him without say ‘I love you’ to him.

Tears suddenly rolled down my cheeks. It was the first- I guess you could call it a fight- that I had had with Louis and it hurt. Last night he had said that he wanted to do something with me today, I guess he actually doesn’t.

I sighed as I wiped my cheeks and looked around the room. Pictures of Louis and his family were hung up on the walls, the twins toys were spread around the lounge room and the kitchen table was still covered with plates and things.

Looking at the time I saw that it was now one ten. I wasn’t really hungry, seeing how I hardly ever eat at the right time. I decided that I would clean the place up for Jay, she had done a lot for me so I thought that I would give something back to her. Sure I had told Louis that I was going out but I had only said that to keep him away for a bit longer, I didn’t want to see him right now.

Turning the TV off, I grabbed my phone and walked over to the stereo and connected it. Looking through my music quickly, I found the song that I was looking for and hit play. Suddenly, Olly Murs Troublemaker started blaring through the speakers.

I danced around the room, grabbing anything that needed to be washed and putting it into the kitchen. By the time I had finished cleaning it was four o’clock and just as I had sat down, Louis walked in through the door.

For a moment it looked like he didn’t know if he was in the right house or not but the moment that he saw me he knew he was.

“Laura, let me explain.” He said, closing the door behind him and walking over to me.

“You don’t need to, you said that you wanted to spent today together but you go off and hang out with Niall,” I said, feeling my throat start to get tight.

“You see him almost all the time. I need time to myself.” I told him as I got up and walked up to his room.

Once I closed the door was when I let the tears fall. I don’t know why I’m making such a big deal out of this but it was the first time I’ve ever had a fight with someone that I’ve been with.

I sighed and walked over to Louis’ bed, it smelt like him which made me cry more. Before I even realised it I had cried myself to sleep.

-[-]-

“Laura?” I heard someone whisper as I woke up the next day. I groaned and rolled over only to hit someone’s chest. I rubbed my eyes as I leaned back and looked up at the persons face. The moment I opened my eyes I saw Louis’ bright blue eyes staring back at me.

Before I could even say anything, Louis leaned down and kissed me. Louis pulled back a few minutes later and rested his forehead against mine.

“I’m sorry! I’m so sorry.” He whispered as he wiped away a tear that had rolled down my cheek. I sighed and gave him a small smile as I leaned up and kissed him. “Me too. I shouldn’t have overreacted-” Louis cut me off as he placed his lips on mine. I smiled into the kiss, pulling him to me as I deepened it.

I pulled back a few minutes later breathing heavily, a smile on my lips. “We better get changed. We have to pick Kate up today and we still have to get Niall.” I said, giving him a quick kiss before getting up and grabbing some clothes as I headed for the bathroom.

Turning the shower on, I striped while I waited for the water to heat up. Finally, I jumped into the nice warm water, letting the stresses of my day wash away with the soap and shampoo.

I emerged some hour later, when the water didn't feel quite so hot anymore and I was starting to shrivel. Louis was waiting downstairs with breakfast for me, and he beamed as I walked in and shivered, the chilly British air managing to get to me despite the heaters and the thick jumper I was wearing. Bacon, eggs and a white hot chocolate from Starbucks were waiting for me- I didn't usually eat breakfast, but he looked so gorgeous that I couldn't resist sliding into the seat next to him. "Is this still you apologising?" I asked, smiling slightly as Louis nodded and gave me a sheepish grin.

"And," he announced, almost bouncing in his seat. "Since Kate's not getting in until five, I thought I could show you a bit of London, just us- maybe we could go on the Eye?"

I pretended to be unsure, and Louis' face fell... until I smiled and nodded. "Yeah," I agreed. Louis beamed at me.

"Yeah?" he asked, clapping his hands in excitement like a literal five-year-old.

"Yes!" I insisted, and he stood up, nearly knocking his chair over as he kissed my head. "I'll pack your camera and stuff and you just relax and finish your food and we'll go in like half an hour so no rush but hurry up and-"

"Louis," I said sharply, and he paused to stare at me with wide, surprised eyes that only softened when I smiled. "Go."

"Yeah," he nodded, and was gone before I could roll my eyes.

Honestly. Six-foot-man-child, that boy.

-[-]-

We were now on the Eye and I have to say, the view from up here is amazing. “Lou, this is incredible.” I said as I grabbed my camera out of my bag and snapped a few shots.

By the time we were on the ground again it was two thirty. I looked at my phone and saw tweet after tweet after tweet from Kate saying she was bored and that she was on the plane.

I laughed at the last tweet that she posted, shaking my head as we walked towards the car.

“I think Kate’s gone crazy!” I laughed, showing Louis all of the tweets. He laughed, shaking his head as he opened the car door for me.

“But then again, she was already crazy to begin with.” I said, giving Louis a smile as I climbed into the car.

Before he could close the door, I grabbed hold of his hand and pulled him to me. Louis was shocked at my sudden action but smiled at me as he leaned down and kissed me.

I pulled back a few seconds later before I got too carried away. Louis smiled at me as he stepped back and closed the door before walking around the other side of the car and getting in. “We should probably head off and pick Niall up.” I told Louis as I grabbed my phone out of my bag.

Louis agreed and started driving towards Niall’s place. I unlocked my phone and realized that I hadn’t spoken to Liam, Zayn or Harry since I had last seen them. I sighed as I went into my phone contacts and looked for Liam’s number.

Sometime in the middle of my thoughts Louis has taken a hold of my right hand. I smiled as I looked at our hands and then at Louis, I couldn’t believe that I was lucky enough to be going out with him. Louis rubbed his thumb over the top of my hand, his eyes still on the road.

I had always wanted to be able to hold my boyfriend’s hand in car like this. I use to watch movies- even my friends- and it would make me envy them.

Suddenly, my phone started ringing. I looked down and saw that Liam was ringing me.

I quickly shook my head as I picked it up and answered it, holding it up to my ear.

“Hey Liam.” I answered, letting Louis know that it was Liam.

Liam – Hey Laura, what’s up? You rang me before but no one was on the line.

Me – Oops, sorry. I think I accidently hit call when I spaced out.

Liam – Haha, that’s alright. So why’d you ring?

Me – Well I only just realized that I haven’t talked to you, Zayn and Harry since the last time I saw you. So I had a thought, could you ring or text Zayn and Harry and ask them if they want to catch up with Louis, Niall, Kate and I? Louis and I are actually on our way to get Niall at the moment before we go and pick Kate up from the airport. Anyway, I’ll text you where we’ll meet later and one other thing….. Kate can’t know anything about this, ok?

Liam – Sure, I guess I’ll be seeing you soon then.

“Awesome, thanks Liam. See you later.” I said, taking the phone away from my ear and ending the call.

“What was that all about?” Louis asked, as we pulled up in front of –what I’m guessing- was Niall’s place.

“Well, I realized a while ago that I haven’t talked to the others since the last time I saw them. So I thought that we could go out for tea tonight, after we get Kate, and catch up with them. I just need to find out what Kate’s favourite restaurant here is.” I explained, finishing just as Niall came out the front door.

“Hey Niall.” I smiled as he jumped into the backseat. He smiled back at me as he closed the door and clicked in before Louis pulled off onto the road and we started heading towards the airport to pick up Kate.

-[-]-

“Finally!” I said, leaning back into the seat as Louis parked the car. My leg started bouncing as I looked out the window towards the airport entrance.

“I’m going to go look for her,” I told Louis as I took my seat belt off. “I’ll be back.” I smiled, giving him a kiss on the cheek before getting out of the car and running over to the entrance, making sure not to drop my frappe.

The place was crowded, as it would be for an airport. Sighing, I looked around, trying to see if I could spot her through the crowd.

“Kate!”

I shouted the moment I saw her, before bolting towards her. I saw her mutter something to herself before throwing her hands up in the air as I made my way to her. She had learned the hard way to not to try and meet me halfway, because last time it resulted in both of us on the floor. “LAURA!”

“KATE!” I screamed in her ear, tackling her so hard that she stumbled back a few steps, laughing her head off all the same. “Oh my god how was your flight? This week has been insane! Niall’s in the car waiting for us and Louis drove- he didn’t break the car this time, it’s his mum’s BMW, you’re gonna love it, it’s been snowing for the last three days and what the hell were you doing on twitter?”

I watched as she blinked, obviously trying to get her jet-lagged brain in gear to translate my super-speed-talk and finally cleared her throat as she pointed towards Starbucks.

“Coffee,” She said, quickly marching off as I followed her. “The flight was long, I’ve seen the pictures on twitter, not the silver BMW, I’ll honestly cry if it is, yay snow! And I was annoying you, didn’t you read the hashtag?”

I laughed to myself as she ordered her coffee, catching her look at me a few times like I was crazy. Well, of course I’m crazy, I’m friends with her and I’m drinking a frappe when it’s snowing and single-digit weather outside.

“It is the silver BMW by the way,” I said as she started following me to the car. I watched as she nearly choked on her coffee in delight. “I promised Jay you wouldn’t turn into Clarkson, though.”

“Fuck,” I heard her mutter, probably planning to sweet-talk her way into the driver’s seat. “Can I be James May?”

“And drive at ten miles all the way through London?” I replied; yeah, I spent far too much time watching British YouTuber’s but who can blame me.

“It’s London, we’d be lucky to hit ten miles,” Kate replied, and I snorted with laughter as I nodded, scowling slightly. “You know what they say about fast drivers. They don’t live in England!”

“That’s from Vine,” I scoffed. She had told my about the traffic conditions from last time she’d been a tourist here, and she said that she wasn’t planning on driving in London if she could help it. ‘Let the cabbies do it; and the Tube was brilliant, anyway’ according to her. “So, we’re going out to dinner tonight, at Bella Italia. Niall said it was your favourite?”

“One of,” She added, her eyes scouring the car-park for a familiar face. “Slug N Lettuce is also particularly good.”

I shuddered a little at the name. “Anyway, we’re going out at seven. Did you bring any dressy things?” I asked.

“It’s three degrees out,” She replied with a dry laugh. “I brought jackets, jackets, and thermal socks.” I rolled my eyes and stumbled a bit as she shoved me gently. I watched as her head whipped around as a sharp whistle split the silence and echoed through the car park. Four rows over, I watched as a pair of familiar boys bounced in excitement and the moment they saw us, one of them took off running like a shot.

I grabbed the handle of Kate’s suitcase and caught her handbag when she dropped it. I knew that she wouldn’t be able to keep herself from running too. It was like an invisible magnet was pulling her blindly towards him.

Shaking my head at them, I slowing made my way towards the car where Louis was waiting for me. I smiled as he placed a kiss on my cheek before taking the suitcase from my hand and putting it in the boot.

“Oi, lovebirds!” Louis shouted, breaking them apart. I laughed quietly to myself as I jumped into the front seat and put Kate’s handbag on the floor behind my chair. My heart was pounding in my ears making it hard to hear what was being said. I watched as Kate leaned forward awkwardly hugged Louis from behind the car seat after they had gotten in and kissed his cheek, in a friendly matter of course.

I looked into the mirror of my sun visor and saw Kate blush like she was some thirteen/fourteen-year-old with a crush.

I smiled as I flipped the sun visor back up. Finally, after a week of being without her, I had my best friend back with me.

My smile grew bigger as Louis entwined our fingers together once he had gotten back onto the road and headed back to Niall’s where we were going to stay until later tonight.

Can't wait!
