Change Your Life

“Holy shit,” I breathed out, feeling sick with excitement and nerves. Louis Tomlinson was in our hotel... Co-authored by Lozza (author of Laura's POV) & MisfiredSynapse (author of Kate's POV).

24. Laura's POV

I knocked on the bathroom door for what seemed like the hundredth time but it was only the tenth. I had already changed into comfy clothes and was just waiting to use the bathroom to fix my beanie.

After a few minutes, Kate came out giving me a bright smile that I could tell was fake. Quickly, I disappeared into the bathroom. Brushed my hair and put my beanie on. I couldn’t tell who the girl in the mirror was, she had sunken brown eye that if you looked closely you could easily see the sadness in them. Turning away from the mirror, I turned the tap on and splashed my face, hoping to rid the look.

Satisfied with my look, I turned around and walked out to join the others out in the lounge.

Just as I entered the lounge I saw Louis pull away from giving Kate a hug. “Let’s go! I finally get my bed back!” I heard Kate laugh as I picked my bag up from the floor near the door and walked out to Louis’ rental car.

My mind was still trying to come to terms with the idea of not seeing him for so long, even though I knew it wasn’t as long as he thought that it was going to be.

“You alright, Love?” I heard Louis ask, breaking me from my thoughts. I looked over at him, realising that I was in the car now and he had just gotten in himself.

“Yeah, I’m f-“

“Don’t tell me your fine, I know you’re not.” Louis interrupted. I sighed, there was no point lying to him when he could see right through it.

“I’m Scared, ok. I don’t want this to be like it was last time you left.” I told him as I looked out the window at the moving scenery.

“Can we talk about something else, Lou. I don’t want to start crying now.” I said, turning to look at him. I could tell that he didn’t want to talk about it either, so we started talking about anything. Sometime during the drive we had put a CD on- which I had found in my bag- and were now blasting Matchbox Twenty.

At the airport, I couldn’t keep the tears back any longer as the overhead speakers told us that it was time to go. I watched as Kate and Niall said goodbye but couldn’t bring myself to look at Louis, knowing that I would break down even more than I already am.

“Laura love,” I heard him say from next to me. My breathing became shallow and my chest started getting tight, I knew that if I didn’t calm myself down soon then I would pass out.

I took a deep breath before turning to Louis, his bright blue eyes glistening in the light as they locked with mine. Before I could do anything, Louis had me wrapped in his arms; my face was in the crock of his neck as sobs shook through my body.

I took hold of his shirt, hoping that he wouldn’t leave me if I held onto him tight enough. I felt him kiss my head before lightly pulling away, his eye glistened and I knew he was crying too.

I reached up and gave him a kiss that he deepened, making me smile a bit. All too soon he pulled back and looked me in the eyes.

“I’ll miss you, so much.” I mumbled, looking over at Kate, realising that they had to go.

“I’ll miss you, too love. I love you.” Louis said, pulling me back into a quick hug. “I love you, too Louis.” I sniffed, pulled back and gave Niall a quick hug.

“Look after him for me,” I whispered to him.

“I will, look after Kate.” He mumbled before pulling back from the hug. I nodded my head at him before they both were gone, waving at us through the glass that was separating us from the international departures.

Once they were boarding the plane, we both turned to sadly head to Kate’s car. Silently, Kate handed me a letter, mumbling that it was from Louis, before we both got into her car and headed home.

Hello love.

If you’re crying, stop it. And I’m sorry for that. Anyway, if Kate did as she’s told, then I’m gone. Sorry again. But hey, two weeks, right? Can’t wait to show you around. It’s gonna be great.

Check under your pillow. I know Niall left his hoodie behind and of course the sappy bastard is making me look bad, so there’s something of mine for you. And this little charm is yours, too; because if I’m the bird, always flying away, wherever you are is where I wanna call home. I’ve had the best time these last few days and I am going to miss you so much.

I’ve never fallen so hard so fast for someone and it’s been an incredible ride. Let’s keep riding, together, okay? I’ll see you in two weeks… and I’ll Skype you when I land. I miss you already.

Lots of love ALWAYS

Your Louis xx

I laughed quietly to myself as I read the letter, the smile staying on my face. I looked into the envelope and saw the little charm that he said about. I gasped quietly as I looked at it; the bird was exactly like his bird tattoo.

Before I knew it, we were back at home. Kate instantly retired to her room the moment we walked through the door.

I followed, after locking the door and making sure that the lights were off.

Walking into my room, I went straight to my bed and looked under my pillow. Picking up Louis’ favourite hoodie, a smile came to my face as I hugged it to me.

I quickly took my top off and replaced it for Louis’ hoodie, it smelled like him and I was already missing him.

I quickly plugged my phone in before turning the light off.

The annoying sound of my phone alarm was the first thing I heard the next morning. Groaning, I rolled over and grabbed my phone to press snooze. The moment that I saw the time made me feel wide awake; a grin came to my face as I realise that Louis would be Skyping me soon.

I quickly jumped out of bed and started playing my music. Quickly, I grabbed my laptop off of my desk and put it onto my bed and turned it on so it could load while I got dressed.

A few minutes later I was changed and now sitting on my bed in front of my laptop waiting for it to finish loading. While I waited I grabbed my phone and logged onto twitter.

Waiting for my laptop to load so I can Skype @Louis_Tomlinson

I tweeted just as my laptop finished loading. Not long after I sent the tweet I got a notification telling me that someone had commented on it.

@stillsassmasta Looking forward to seeing you, love

I smiled at it and saw that my tweet had been retweeted a few times by other people. Leaving my phone, I turned to my computer and signed into Skype.

Not long after I signed in, I saw that Louis was already ringing me.

“Hey, Lou.” I smiled, just seeing his face on my computer screen made me want to start crying.

“Hey love, how did you sleep?” He asked. I could tell that he was trying not to fall asleep himself.

“It was alright, I miss you.” I sighed, looking down at the keyboard so he couldn’t see the tears.

I looked up as I hear my door open. Kate stood there with her arms folded over her chest, her hair in the birds nest mess that she always has after she wakes up.

“Morning, Kate.” I said, motioning her over to sit next to me.

After a conversation with Louis that lasted half the day, Kate and I decided to do something distracting and go to see Frozen. We'd already memorised the soundtrack off tumblr, and we're dying to see it. Neither of us wanted to sit around home and wallow in self-pity, so the movies it was.

1 week later

It was now the Friday after the Louis and Niall had left. I had gotten my passport on Wednesday and then changed the date of my flight to day. Jay had agreed to meet me at the airport when I get in and take me to a hotel that I was going to stay at until Christmas Eve.

Louis had texting me all through the week, telling me that he missed me and couldn’t wait to see me in a week. I smiled as I thought about how surprised he’s going to be when he sees me.

“Laura!! Are you packed yet? We have to leave for the airport soon.” I heard my best friend yell from the kitchen. She was a bit upset that I was going before her but was happy at the idea of me surprising Louis.

“Yeah, I’m just packing the last bit of my things.” I replied, slowly putting my laptop into its bag. To be honest, I was a bit nervous about flying over to London on my own. I mean, sure I’ve been on a plane before but I’ve never flown by myself.

Looking around my room one last time to make sure that I had everything, I picked up my laptop bag and handbag and walked out the door.

Kate was in the kitchen, her hair up in a messy bun as she tried to finish the dishes from this morning. She was wearing her normal Friday outfit, a pair of trackies and an oversized t-shirt, covered by Niall’s favourite hoodie.

“Right, do you have your passport? Phone?” I laughed lightly as my best friend blabbed on, she was more worried about this than I was.

“Yes!! My phone and passport are in my bag, now let’s go before I’m late and miss my flight.” I said, shaking my head as I walked out the front door with my bags.

The car ride to the airport consisted of One D blaring and us being idiots, and by the time we got to the airport Kate and I had tears in our eyes from laughing too much.

Finally the time came where I had to say bye to my best friend, even though I was seeing her again in a week it was hard to say bye. Seeing how we talked to each other every day for the past couple of years.

“I’ll see you in a weeks’ time then,” I said, facing her as the overhead speakers announced my flight. She nodded, obviously not trusting her words.

I quickly pulled her in for a hug; being best friends and living together, you end up getting even closer to each other and we knew that it would be different/hard, when she wakes up tomorrow morning she’s going to expect hearing my music playing in my bedroom, she’s going to expect me being my crazy, hyper self.

“Okay, I’ll tell how Louis reacts.” I told her as we pulled back from the hug, laughter in my voice.

“You better. Now go and tell Louis I say hi.”

I smiled, nodding my head as I picked up my laptop bag and handbag before heading for the gate. I gave my ticket and passport to the flight attendant before walking down the tarmac to the plane.

The flight attendant at the door took my ticket and showed me where my seat was before turning to the other passengers.

My mind was spinning as I sat down in my seat next to the window. I quickly sent Jay a text saying that I had just boarded the plane and would text her the moment that I got through customs.

After that, I turned my phone off and put it back into my bag and waited for the plane to take off and be up in the air for the next fourteen hours.

Finally, after being stuck on a plane for hours, I walked into the nice warm building called Heathrow Airport. My legs felt sore and stiff as I walked down to lounge collection.

My hands shook as I pulled my bag off of the conveyor belt before walking over to the nearest Starbucks. Kate had told me that I had to try Starbucks the moment I got in. So that’s what I was doing, I ordered a tall white hot chocolate, needing something to wake me up.

While I waited for my drink, I took my phone out of my bag and turned it back on.

Just landed at Heathrow, at Starbucks now waiting for Jay.

I messaged Kate just as my drink was called. I thanked the girl at the counter before grabbing my things and walking out to the front of the airport.

My phone beeped, telling me I had a message.

Laura, I’m right out front, got a sign with your name on it so you will know. – Jay

I smiled at her, even though I know what she looks like. Quickly putting my phone away, I grabbed my bag and walked out to find Jay.

Man, I can’t wait to see the look on Louis’ face. I thought to myself as I made my way through all the people to the front of the airport.

Looking around, I spotted Jay a little ways off, holding a sign with my full name on it.

I laughed as I got closer to her. “It’s so nice to finally meet you, Jay. I hope Louis didn’t ask questions about where you were going?” I asked her the moment I stopped in front of her.

"Nope, he's clueless as ever," she beamed, and turned to lead me to what i assumed was her car. "He's still sleeping if I'm honest; he was at a mate's gig in town until late."

"Aww, poor thing," I mumbled, not sounding sorry at all. Jay nodded in agreement with my subtle sarcasm and pulled her keys from her pocket, remotely unlocking a sleek silver BMW. When she noticed me gaping in awe- and silently thinking that Kate was going to LOVE this car- Jay beamed with pride.

"Lou brought it for me for Christmas. He says I can't drive the van everywhere," she explained, blushing a little as I nodded and closed my mouth before flies got in.

"It's gorgeous," I gasped. "Kate- my best mate, the one who's got a bit of a thing with Niall-" Jay nodded, obviously knowing who I was talking about- "- is gonna flip when she sees this car. She'll go all Jeremy Clarkson on it."

"Oh god," Jay groaned, helping me get my stuff in the back before we jumped into the front. It had seat warmers, and I didn't realise how cold I was until they came on. "Louis wouldn't let me drive it for a week until he'd tried it out himself. I sometimes wonder whether he brought it for me or himself."

I rolled my eyes and Jay giggled, the two of us falling into easy conversation as she drove us north to Doncaster. It hadn't snowed much, which I was grateful for, because it made traffic easier to navigate. I'd be staying in a hotel for tonight, ready to surprise Louis in the morning- Jay and my secret emails had been fast and furious, organising the whole thing.
