Sarah is 18, but her life is far from any other high school senior's. Her mother died when she was 16; her father became a drug addict, smoker, alcoholic, and Sarah's worst nightmare. Why? Well, he abuses her.

Sarah doesn't tell anyone though, not even her best (and only) friend Lexi because her father told her that he would hurt her little sisters that her mother left her to raise when it became clear her father wouldn't be able to.

Sarah goes to work one day expecting it to be like every other day. Little does she know she is in for one heck of a surprise.

38. We Will Get Out Of Here

This is dedicated to aibola3!  Thank you for reading and being an encouragement for me to get back to writing!

(A/N: I know this is an extremely short chapter, and I'm really sorry.  I've hit major writer's block.  If any of y'all have ideas, please comment.)

Louis' POV:

About half an hour later the van pulls into a driveway of a house that looks vaguely familiar but I couldn't exactly place it.  It was in a neighborhood that looked like it was a pleasant place to live, making the shabby white house stand out.  I was silently towed up to the front porch where I saw a knot in the wood of the door.  The knot had the letter 'K' engraved in it.  It was then that I was able to place the house.  That knot was the same knot that was the home screen on Sarah's phone.  She had told me once that her mom and dad and her had made it when they first moved into that house right before Autumn was born.  The man grunted and mumbled something about leaving his keys in the van.  He turned around and started to walk back, leaving an old grey bag on the ground next to me.  When he's turned the corner, I start searching the bag for something to use.  I put my hands on a cell phone and clutch it tight.  I send a text to the all too familiar number: "Don't do anything he says. -Louis"  The man walks up right as I drop the phone in the bag and pulls my up by the shirt, shoving me through the now open door and to the ground.

He stared at me for a minute with eyes as dark as the night sky then roughly picked me up and dragged me to a room in the back.  It didn't have much except for a bed with purple sheets.  This must have been Sarah's old room.  After my eyes adjusted to the dark lighting in the room, I saw that there was a small lump in the bed, and a tall body laying on the ground next to it.  "You will sleep here.  You are not to leave this room and you are not to speak unless spoken to.  Do you understand?" the man holding onto the back of my hoodie asked gruffly.  I nodded and he pushed me farther into the room, closing the door and locking it.

I immediately ran to the shivering body in the bed, picking it up and holding it close in my arms.  With her head on my chest, I felt her relax.  "L-louis?" Autumn asked me as she opened her eyes.

My eyes teared up a little and I grasped her like she was a life preserver.  "Yes Autumn, it's me.  I promise I'm going to take care of you and take you home to Sarah where you will never be hurt again."  She nodded and closed her hands around my body, cuddling in closer to me.  When she falls back asleep, I lay down on the bed and close my eyes.  I have to find a way to get in touch with Sarah and let her know what is going on.  I'm in the middle of trying to remember how long it's been since I last heard her father yell at me when I feel a slight poke in my rib.  I open my eyes and sit up, Autumn still in my grasp.  I look around and see a girl with black hair and brown eyes.  She's studying me like I'm the first human being she's seen in a while.  Then I remember that there was a girl in here when I was first brought to my new jail cell.  This must be her.  I know I'm not allowed to talk, but it was just so curious.  Who was this girl?  Why was she here?  Could she help me get back to Sarah?

Christina's POV:

I looked over the top of the bed and was met by a boy in his early, early 20's.  He had brown hair and blue eyes.  He comforted Autumn better than I have been able to this past day or so, which means he must be extremely special to her, if he can do a better job than her own aunt who used to live with her.  "Hi.  Who are you?  Why are you here?" the boy asked me quietly so he wouldn't get caught by Zach.

"I'm Christina.  I came around here because I hadn't heard from Sarah in a month or so and wanted to check on her, but she wasn't here obviously.  Her dad, whose name is Zach by the way,  is my sister's ex-husband.  Zach was planning on using me for 'bait' to get Sarah if he couldn't get Autumn.  Now he has all 3 of us.  Now, who are you?"

"I'm Louis, Sarah's boyfriend," he responded.

"And that's why Autumn's so comfortable with you.  She didn't calm down until you got here."

Louis looked down at her and smiled faintly before laying her back down on the bed.  "Who are you?" he asked me curiously.

"I'm Christina.  I'm the girls' aunt.  Their mum was my half sister.  I moved in when she died to help take care of the girls, but had to stop after Zach, their dad, got too violent."

Louis nodded.  "Why didn't you take them with you?" He asked me.  "Or why didn't you do anything about it?"

I looked down shamefully.  "I just figured it would be safer for all of us!  I figured he wouldn't hunt us down if they were still with him."

"I guess I can see why you would think that.  But you need to apologize when we get out of here.  Do you understand?"

I nodded quickly, "yes, yes I completel- wait.  Get out of here?  How?"

He looks at me with a determined look in his eye.  "I don't know.  But we will.  I promised I would keep my girls safe.  And I intend to keep that promise."
