Sarah is 18, but her life is far from any other high school senior's. Her mother died when she was 16; her father became a drug addict, smoker, alcoholic, and Sarah's worst nightmare. Why? Well, he abuses her.

Sarah doesn't tell anyone though, not even her best (and only) friend Lexi because her father told her that he would hurt her little sisters that her mother left her to raise when it became clear her father wouldn't be able to.

Sarah goes to work one day expecting it to be like every other day. Little does she know she is in for one heck of a surprise.

31. The Sass Master Leaves Doncaster

After dinner last night, Louis and I spent the night wrapped in each other's arms just talking, trying to hold onto the last few hours we had left together.  We eventually fell asleep, and were awoken by someone shaking us.  I opened my eyes to see Jay leaning over us and smiling.  I smiled back and rubbed my eyes.  We both looked at Louis who was holding me to him loosely with one arm, still sound asleep.  "I'll get him up," I told Jay with a smile.  She nodded and told me she was going to take us to breakfast before we dropped him off and to be ready in an hour.  I nodded and she left the room.  I had decided to take today off of school to take Louis to the airport.  We had to get to the airport around 1 so he could get on the plane at 2.  It was about 10 o'clock now.  I decided that there was only one logical way to wake him up.  I left a trail of kisses down his face, starting on his forehead and ending on his nose.  Finally, I gently kissed his lips and then pulled away to see his eyes flutter open.

"Man, I am going to miss that when I leave."

I laughed before telling him Jay and I's plan.  He smiled and got up to get ready.  Once we were both dressed and ready to go, we threw his bags in the trunk of his car and got his mum.  She drove us to the breakfast diner, no one really talking but instead enjoying the time to think.  We ate a quick breakfast, talking about anything and everything to keep out minds off what was about to happen.

We got back into the car and drove even farther to the airport.  Jay decided she was going to say goodbye in the car, leaving me and Louis to go to the terminal alone.  We set up Skype dates as we made our way through security.  We walked as slowly as we could before reaching the terminal at last.  We had three minutes and tried to make the best of it.  We sat there taking funny pictures so we would have one last thing to hold onto when he left.  Before we knew it, the voice came over the intercom letting us know that his plane was boarding.  We walked hand in hand to the check in and he got approved to go on board.  He turned around right there and kissed me.  It was a beautiful yet sad kiss, full of passion and desperation but still gentle.  It made fireworks go off in my stomach and when we pulled away, I wanted more.  "I love you," Louis told me kissing my forehead one last time.

"I love you too," I said, wrapping him in a hug.

He hugged back as hard as he could.  "I love you most," he said squeezing my hand.  His hand left mine and I numbly watched him as he made his way to the plane.  He looked back and smiled through the forming tears and blew me an air kiss.  I caught it and blew one back.  Then he was gone.  I stood there until the plane was completely gone, and then I started the painful journey back to the car.  Once I finally made it, I climbed into the front seat.  I looked at Jay and just let the tears freely fall.  She left the car in park and reached over the center console to hug me.  I allowed myself to cry until I couldn't anymore.  And she let me.  Once the tears were out, Jay started the car and we were off to the house again.  We had an hour long ride back home, and we didn't know what to say.

About five minutes into the ride, I broke the silence.  "I'm worried about him.  He shouldn't have stayed back."

"I was shocked when he did it darling, but don't worry.  He'll be okay," Jay reassured me.  I nodded at the comment but still felt bad about it.

"I think I'm going to call Liam.  It's around 9 in the morning in America, so they should be up.  I'm going to ask him to look after Louis for me.  Do you think that would be okay?"

"I think it's a great idea sweetie," Jay said as I was already dialing the number on my cell phone.

"Sarah?" Liam asked.

"Liam?  Hi."

"Hey.  How are you?"

"I'm okay.  A little sad but I'll be okay.  I was actually wondering if you could do me a favor."

"Anything.  Shoot."

I took a deep breath.  "Well Louis just left, and I was wondering if you would look after him for me.  He gave me a copy of the schedule, and it's pretty much go, go, go once he gets there.  I don't want him to overwork himself or get too tired."

"Absolutely Sarah.  I was already planning on it.  I'll keep you posted on what is going on on our end.  You just worry about keeping your family safe.  It'll all be okay."

"Thanks Liam.  And tell Liz I said hey."

"Will do.  I will talk to you soon with an update on the Sass Master."

This part makes me smile as I thank Liam and hang up.  "Liam is going to keep a close eye on our 'Sass Master'," I try to say without cracking up.

Jay giggles.  "Good.  That boy is a piece of work."

I laughed with her.

It was right around 9 o'clock at night when my phone started playing No Air by Jordan Sparks.  I knew immediately that it was Louis, as that was the song I set for his ringtone.  "Hey babe.  I just landed in New York and am about to get on another plane, but wanted to say hey," he rushed out before yawning.  I wanted so badly to laugh but kept my giggles to a minimum.

"Did you sleep on the way over?"

"You know I did."  He let a little giggle escape his lips.

"Good.  What time is it there?"

"Um, around four in the afternoon.  I feel like I should be settling down for the night, but I'm not."

This time I let myself laugh.  Autumn came in the room and sat next to me on the couch.  "Autumn, do you want Louis to say goodnight?"  She nodded her head up and down, making her brown curls bounce.  I handed her the phone and listened as she talked to him.

"Hello Louis."

"Hey Autumn.  Why aren't you in bed?"

"I wanted to wait to talk to you before I did," she told him, yawning in the process.

"Okay.  Well did you have a good day at school?"

"Absolutely.  Today we talked about our families and I told everyone about ours.  I started with Niall, Lexi, Harry, Katie, Zayn, Liam, and Liz.  Then I told them about Aunt Jay, Fizzy, Lottie, Daisy, and Phoebe.  And then I finished with Lilli, Sarah, and you!  I had the biggest family in the whole class!"

I heard Louis chuckle as she was listing her many uncles and aunts.  "I'm glad you had a good day, love."

Autumn's face immediately dropped.  "I miss you Louis."

"I miss you too princess.  It's going to be okay though.  I'll be back before you know it."

"Okay.  I'm going to go to bed now, do you want to talk to Sarah?"

"Yes please.  Goodnight baby girl, sweet dreams."  Autumn handed me back the phone and I turned the volume down so she couldn't hear him anymore.  She then laid her head in my lap and closed her eyes.

"So you have another 6 hours of flying, huh?"

He sighed.  "Yup.  And sadly I'll be alone, again."

"You should try and get some more sleep.  You don't know how much you'll have when you get to LA."

"I probably will.  I don't have anything to do anyways besides miss you."

I melted at his statement.  "Aww babe.  I miss you too.  Promise to call me when you get to California?"

"Promise."  Just then I heard a muffled sound on his end.  "Well, I have a plane to catch.  Tell my family hi for me?  I'll talk to you soon."

"Will do.  Have a safe flight.  I love you."

"I love you more.  Bye Sarah."  And with that, the line went dead.

I woke up again to the sound of my phone buzzing next to me on the bed.  "Hello?" I answered.

"Hey!  I just landed in Cali!  Oh my gosh the fans are crazy here!"

I laughed.  "Be safe and don't get trampled!"

I heard him laugh on the other end.  "Really though.  Hey what time is it there?"

I looked at the glowing clock on the table next to me.  "3:24, what about where you are?"

"Umm, sometime around 7.  You should go back to sleep."

I didn't protest.  "Okay, I'll call you later.  Goodnight."

"Goodnight sweetheart."
