Sarah is 18, but her life is far from any other high school senior's. Her mother died when she was 16; her father became a drug addict, smoker, alcoholic, and Sarah's worst nightmare. Why? Well, he abuses her.

Sarah doesn't tell anyone though, not even her best (and only) friend Lexi because her father told her that he would hurt her little sisters that her mother left her to raise when it became clear her father wouldn't be able to.

Sarah goes to work one day expecting it to be like every other day. Little does she know she is in for one heck of a surprise.

Sarah's POV:

"Turn off the bloody alarm," I heard him mumble.  I did as I was told before sitting up and stretching.  I slowly and quietly slid out of the bed and to the bathroom where I started getting ready for school.  Regardless of what happened yesterday, I was going to face them with a smile on my face.  After taking a shower and putting my hair in a braid down my back, I changed into a oversized navy and white jumper and some dark skinny jeans.  I crept out of the bathroom and past my sleeping boyfriend down to the kitchen.

Once I walked in, I saw that the little girls had left already, leaving dirty plates behind in the sink.  The other two girls were on their phones playing a game.  Jay had taken Lilliana to her first day at her new daycare before spending one last day with Louis.  I grabbed the cereal box that was left out for everyone and poured a bowl before sitting down at the table.  After I had taken my last spoonful, we heard the garage door open.  That was our cue to grab our bags and head out there.  Jay stayed in the car waiting as Lottie and Fizzy got in the back and I got in shotgun.  We were talking about our plans for the weekend to go to the movies when my phone rang.

"Louis?"

"Oh good I wanted to catch you before you made it to school.  You left without saying goodbye this morning and I didn't get the chance to tell you to have a good day," he rushed out as the entire car went quiet.

"Aw Lou, it's okay.  Good morning."

"Good morning.  Have a good day today, okay Sarah?  And if anything happens, call me and I'll come get you, deal?"

"Deal."

"Oh ya and before you hang up, would you like to go to dinner with me tonight?  Just the two of us?"

"Louis, I'd love that.  Thank you."

"Anything for you baby.  Have a good day at school and I'll pick you up afterwards.  I love you Sarah," he said making kissing noises into the phone before yawning.

"Bye love, I'll see you after school.  I love you too," I responded adding my own kissing noises to the end.  I hung up the phone with a smile on my face.  That's when I noticed that the entire car was silent and looking at me with grins plastered on their faces.  "What?"

"You two are way too cute together for your own good," Jay said as Lottie and Fizzy nodded their heads in agreement.  I smiled and blushed while looking at my feet.

Jay's POV:

After I dropped off the girls at school, I made my way home.  I was spending the day with Louis today since he was leaving tomorrow.  We had made plans to just sit at home and talk and goof off.

After I pulled into the driveway to my house, I made my way to the kitchen.  I heard someone's footsteps descending the stairs and automatically knew Louis was awake.   "Well good morning sleepy head.  How'd you sleep?" I asked him as I sat down at the table across from him.

"Really good, thanks.  I don't know what's going to happen when I leave for tour though.  I'm going to be wrecked."

"I was surprised you said you wanted stay, considering what happened last time."

He looked down into the cup of tea he had poured earlier before responding.  "I know.  Everyone is.  But I needed to do it, for Sarah.  Mum, can I ask you a question?"

"Of course sweetie, anytime.  What is it?"

"I really love Sarah and I think she loves me just as much and I want to do something special for her.  I know it's only been a couple of weeks, but I think I have found the one I want to stay with forever," he rushed out.

I thought carefully before I spoke, Louis hanging onto every word I said.  "Louis, I know she loves you just as much.  You should have seen her face when you called this morning; she was so happy and it was full of love.  You have made it pretty clear that you wanted to be with her when you adopted her sisters as your own.  I don't suggest proposing quite yet, but maybe we could arrange something for her to know that you are in love with her for the long run.   You are coming back for Christmas, right?"

"Well, ya but I was going to surprise her."

"Exactly!  You can surprise her and for Christmas you can give her a ring.  Not an engagement ring, but more of a promise ring.  Tell her you really love her."  Louis' smile kept growing as I spoke.  "We can go today if you want.  That way you can pick one out and I can get the girls to wrap it and everything.  How does that sound?"

"What are we sitting here for?  Let's go!" He yelled as he jumped up from his chair and ran up the stairs to get ready.  I laughed at him as I followed behind.

Louis' POV:

My mum and I pulled up to the mall where we were going to go shopping for the ring.  I had on a sweatshirt and glasses with one of my beanies pulled over my hair.  I smiled at my mum as we walked into the ring store.  "Hello, how can I help you?" A man in his mid-thirties asked us.

"We are actually looking for a ring for his girlfriend.  Not an engagement ring, but one for a present," my mum told him.

"Well then come with me," he said walking over to a display case of rings.

My eyes scanned the case as I tried to find one I liked.  There it was, right in the middle of the display.  I pointed it out to the employee and my mum.  "That's it, that's the one."  It had three hearts; two solid ones on their sides and one straight up diamond one.  The silver band had diamonds on it that gradually got smaller as the band went on.

"Ah yes, the infinity hearts.  What size ring would you like?"

"Umm, I don't know."

"Text Lottie.  She and Sarah got rings the other day, remember?"

I whipped out my phone and texted her.  "To Lottie: What size ring does Sarah wear?  I found one I want to give her for Christmas."

I got one back within seconds.  "From Lottie: She's a 5.  I can't wait to see it!"

I sighed with relief.  "She's a 5," I told my mum.  She nodded and passed on the message as I thanked Lottie.

"You're total is 150.79.  Would you like to pay it now or have the shipments sent you you?"

"I'll pay now please."  The man nodded and put the ring in the box.  He handed it to me as I handed him my credit card.  He swiped it in the machine and I smiled as he handed it back.

"What are you so happy about?" My mum asked with a smirk.  She clearly knows what I was happy about.

I rolled my eyes at her before asking, "So do you want to go to lunch or another store?  Or do you want to just go home?"

"Let's go to lunch.  I'm starving."

She laughed as we walked to the food court.  We both got our lunches and sat down when my phone buzzed.  I smiled when I saw Sarah's name on the screen.  "From Sarah <3: Can not wait for dinner tonight :)"  I laughed to myself.  She doesn't even know what is going on right now.  I can't wait to see the look on her face when I give it to her.
