Sarah is 18, but her life is far from any other high school senior's. Her mother died when she was 16; her father became a drug addict, smoker, alcoholic, and Sarah's worst nightmare. Why? Well, he abuses her.

Sarah doesn't tell anyone though, not even her best (and only) friend Lexi because her father told her that he would hurt her little sisters that her mother left her to raise when it became clear her father wouldn't be able to.

Sarah goes to work one day expecting it to be like every other day. Little does she know she is in for one heck of a surprise.

25. Please Don't Go

(A/N: I know that Louis' sisters' names are Charlotte and Félicité, but I shortened them becasue that's what Louis calls them. [And I was lazy]. Anyway, I know this chapter is awful but I tried. Okay have a good day loverlies!)

Louis’ POV:

I had found Sarah in Fizzy’s room talking to her and Lottie. Lottie was on the left, Sarah was in the middle, and Fizzy was on her right. They couldn’t see me from their position around the computer, but I could hear everything they were saying. I saw twitter on the screen and then I saw my sisters put their arms around Sarah while whispering comforting things and Sarah bring her hands up to her eyes. I heard soft sobbing and knew I couldn’t just stand there anymore, my girlfriend needed me. “What’s wrong?” I asked the trio as I sat behind them; behind Sarah to be exact. I rubbed her back as Lottie made room for me to sit next to her. I wrapped both of my arms around her and hugged her tightly as she collapsed in my arms. I started rocking her and shushing and looked at my sisters with questioning eyes. Fizzy immediately picked up her laptop, scrolling through Sarah’s twitter notifications for the past hour, all of which were hate. I realized the crying had stopped and Sarah’s breathing was even. I looked down and saw her asleep in my arms. I used this time to interrogate my sisters. “What happened girls? Tell me. Now,” I demanded.

Lottie spoke up first. “We had promised some girls at the mall that we would follow them on twitter and it was Sarah’s turn to go. While she was on, she decided she was going to check her notifications, like Fizzy and I did, and well…” Her voice trailed off at the end, but I knew what she was implying: the incredibly long list of hate coming through the stream. Every time I refreshed, there was more. There was only one positive one in the list, but of course she wouldn’t listen to that.

I took out my own phone, clicked on the blue icon, and asked Lottie to send out a tweet for me. As soon as she pressed send, I looked at it. “@Louis_Tomlinson: @elizabeth_1Dlover is the only one on my girlfriend’s notifications that is making sense! Please, stop. It hurts me as much as it does her.” I smiled when I saw that my sisters had retweeted it. “Thanks girls.” They nodded as I continued. “Okay so she seems pretty tired and upset. I’m gonna go put her to sleep. See you later girls.” I picked her up and cradled her in my arms bridal-style. Right before I made it to the door I heard Fizzy call my name.

With Sarah still in my arms, I turned around to face her. "Talk to Sarah when she wakes up, Louis. She seems really nervous with the whole school thing too." I nodded and thanked Fizzy before taking Sarah back to my room. I laid her down on the bed and walked around to the other side before getting in and wrapping my arms around her. Out of instinct she snuggled deeper into my chest before falling into a deeper sleep then before. “I promise you Sarah. I will take care of you and I won’t ever stop.”

I must have fallen asleep watching Sarah because the next thing I know it is 9 o’clock at night and I was looking at a girl who was crying in her sleep. I was about to shake her so I could talk to her when I heard her small voice say, “No. No please don’t leave me Louis.” Then the crying got harder. I decided that I needed to stop it because it broke my heart to see her like this.

“Sarah, Sarah wake up baby.” She jolted awake and searched the room for something. Once she found me, she collapsed in my open arms. “Sarah, love, what’s wrong?”

“I-I had-d a dream where you le-eft me,” she said in between sobs.

“Shhh, Sarah I would never do that,” I tried to calm her down. She just kept mumbling inaudiable words and phrases. I decided that arguing with her right now would be pointless, so I just waited. When she finally calmed down, I asked, “Sarah, what’s really wrong?”

She took a deep breath before telling me. “I was talking to Lottie and Fizzy while you were putting Lilliana back to sleep and we decided to follow some girls we met today on twitter. When we got on, both of them checked their notifications. There was some hate, but most of it was really nice. When it was my turn, I did the same, except for me there was nothing nice, just rude comments about how I will never be Eleanor and how you will leave me. I couldn’t take it anymore. Not with the stress of a new school, my dad having the ability to come and find us, and how you are leaving for tour on Monday morning. Louis, I don’t think I can do it. Please don’t leave me.” She started sobbing again, this time in my chest as I rocked her back and forth.

“Sarah, if you really don’t want me to leave, I won’t, okay? We are leaving two days early so we can get used to the time change and for a couple of interviews. I can miss the interviews, and I will be able to fall into the new sleep pattern fairly easily. I’m always the first one to anyway. You know what? I’ll stay until Wednesday morning,” I said, pulling my phone out.

She looked up at me before nodding. I could tell she didn’t want me to leave, and I didn’t want to. I kept holding her with one arm and dialed Liam’s cell phone number with the other. He picked up after three rings. “Hey Louis, what’s up?”

“Hey Liam, I need you to get the boys together. JUST the boys. I need to talk to you guys about tour.”

“Um okay, hold on.” I heard shuffling on the other end and then eventually heard Liam’s voice again. “I’m going to put you on speaker Lou.”

I nodded, then when I knew he couldn’t see me I stopped. I immediately heard the boys shouting various forms of ‘hello’s’ to me. I smiled as I realized Sarah was now sitting up next to me. She pointed to the bathroom door and I nodded before giving her a peck on the lips and mouthing, ‘it’s all going to be okay.’ She nodded before going into the bathroom and turning the shower on. “Alright Louis, what did you want to talk to us about?”

I took a deep breath before beginning. “Okay boys so before you say anything let me finish.”

“That makes me nervous Lou,” Zayn interrupted.

“Did I not just say to not say anything until I’m done?”

“Sorry. Continue bro.”

“Okay so boys, I am not flying in to meet you guys at LA until Wednesday morning, instead of Monday morning. I know our first show is Wednesday there so I will make it for that. I know there’s sleep and stuff but I can get in the pattern pretty okay. It’s just that Sarah really needs me here for the first couple of days of school. She gets enough hate as it is. So please boys, will you tell Paul and cover for me?”

Harry was the first to speak. “I dunno Louis. You were in the worst shape ever when you did this for Eleanor. Are you sure?”

“I’m dead sure Harry.”

“Okay, well if you’re sure then of course we will cover for you Lou. Don’t sweat it,” Niall said.

“Thanks boys. Okay so I’ll see you guys at the airport on Wednesday morning there?”

“Yup,” they all chorused.

“Thanks again boys.”

“No problem Louis, see you then,” Liam said before ending the call. I walked into the bathroom to share the good news with Sarah.

“Hey Sarah, guess what?”

“What Louis? What’s so important that you have to come in right now?” She responded, annoyance clear in her voice.

“I’m not leaving until Wednesday! I’ll be here for a couple of days to help through the start of school!”

“OH MY GOSH Louis, that’s great! Thank you so much for doing this!” She stopped the shower and grabbed a towel through the curtain before stepping out.

“Of course. I promised I would protect you, didn’t I?” I smiled at her.

“Yes, you did. Thank you Louis. I love you,” she replied before reaching up and giving me a gentle kiss on the lips. I wrapped my arms around her, not caring if I got wet. And in that moment, in the bathroom, I knew she was the one.
