Sarah is 18, but her life is far from any other high school senior's. Her mother died when she was 16; her father became a drug addict, smoker, alcoholic, and Sarah's worst nightmare. Why? Well, he abuses her.

Sarah doesn't tell anyone though, not even her best (and only) friend Lexi because her father told her that he would hurt her little sisters that her mother left her to raise when it became clear her father wouldn't be able to.

Sarah goes to work one day expecting it to be like every other day. Little does she know she is in for one heck of a surprise.

30. One Last Night

Sarah's POV:

Louis' car was in the spot to pick me and his sisters up from school as soon as the bell rang.  I ran and practically dived into the seat.  Lottie and Fizzy got in the back and started immediately putting in their headphones.  I was about to get mine out when Louis started talking.  "I talked to the boys today.  They are all settled in America.  They asked me to tell you that Lexi and Katie said hi.  Also, Liam said Liz has been acting weird.  She seems almost distant to him apparently.  I think you and I know what's going on, but you might want to call her about it."  I nodded as he pulled into the drive way.

"I don't have any homework tonight so, I'm going to go call Liz now and then I'll talk to you about dinner plans."  He said okay and offered to take my bag in for me.  I thanked him and went to my- his- our room and shut the door.  I scrolled through my limited contact list and found Liz's number.  It rang three times before she answered.

"Sarah?"

"Hey Liz, what's been going on?"

"Just having massive jet leg.  How do the boys do this all the time?"

"I have no clue.  They get it pretty bad too, or at least that's what Louis told me.  He doesn't know I know but I am aware of the fact that Louis is going to die from it.  But I didn't tell him because I knew he'd just deny it."

"Ha ha, ya Liam said he was confused why he's doing it but understands if it's for you."

I smiled at Liam's 'compliment'.  "I'm really thankful he's doing it.  Hey, speaking of Liam, have you talked to him about what happened?"

"No.  Why do you ask?"

"He told Louis today that you were being distant.  Why haven't you told him?  He'll understand."

"I know, I'm just scared to."

"Don't be.  He is still going to love you, I promise.  Everything will be fine.  Why don't you try to do it tonight and let me know how it goes?"

"Okay will do Sarah.  I'll talk to you later."

"Alright bye.  Don't worry about it, okay?"

"Okay.  Bye."  And with that she hung up.  I sighed and silently hoped she'd be okay.  I put my phone on the charger and walked downstairs.  I walked into the living room hoping to see Louis, but instead find all six girls watching some cooking show.  Lottie saw me and pointed into the  kitchen.  I smiled and thanked her before walking towards the door.

I peaked in and saw Louis' hunched over body searching the contents of the fridge.  I decided now would be the best time to sneak up on him and walked quietly over behind the open fridge door.  When he closed it, I jumped up and put my arms around his torso.  He jumped slightly and looked over his shoulder at me.  "Well what do we have here?"  He asked turning around completely and latching his fingers to my sides.  Before I knew what was going on, laughter left my lips as Louis' fingers started tickling me.  Once he was done attacking me, we both sat down at the kitchen table.

"Why'd you do that?" I asked him, still recovering from my laughter.

"Because you scared me," he said making a pouty face.

I just laughed harder.  "I'm sorry babe, I won't do it again."  He smiled which I took for a good thing.  "So, what's for dinner tonight?"

"Um, I was thinking this fancy french restaurant that my family likes.  What do you think?"

"I think it sounds great.  I'm going to go get ready, okay?"  Louis nodded as I walked upstairs.

Three hours later, Louis and I pulled into the parking lot of the place we would be eating.  Louis got out and quickly ran around to my side of the car to open the door for me before I even had my seatbelt off.  "You look amazing tonight Sarah," he told me as he grabbed my hand.  I smiled and looked down at what I was wearing.  My purple, one shoulder, frilly dress floated in the wind while my golden accessories and strap heels sparkled in the street light.  My long brown hair tickled my bare shoulder in its waterfall braid and my nails matched the dark color of the sky.  My head turned to Louis.

"You aren't looking too bad yourself," I told him before smiling.  It was true.  He was wearing some black pants and a matching black blazer with a white t-shirt underneath.  His hair was down, but not enough to cover his blue eyes.

I thanked him as he held the door to the restaurant open for me and we were automatically greeted by a host.  He lead us to a table in the corner.  The host gave us each a menu before walking away.  A waiter came over and took our drink order.  When he came back, we both told him what we wanted and he nodded and smiled at us.  I could've sworn I saw him wink at me, but I couldn't be sure.

"So, are you excited for tour?"  I asked Louis who had been staring our waiter down for the past five minutes.

He looked towards me before shrugging his shoulders.  "I mean, absolutely.  I love touring with the boys.  But you and the girls will be here without anyone to protect you and I'm just really worried about you.  And at the same time me because I think you've realized that I am going to be wrecked for the first little bit.  And you have been having trouble with people at school and if I'm gone I won't be able to hold you and tell you it'll be okay.  And I won't be able to fly you out because you need to be here with your sisters.  You know what, I won't go actually.  I'll be right back let me call the boys."

He was about to get up when I stopped him.  "Louis, calm down.  Don't not go just for my sake.  Me and the girls will be okay, I promise you that much.  We have your sisters and mum and we will be just fine.  And just know that no matter what, I will always be a phone call away, okay?  Now, I do know that you are going to be in trouble the first couple of days, and I beat myself up about making you stay, but again, I'm just a phone call away."  I stopped and took his hand across the table.  "Plus, you have the boys and their girls looking after you.  So don't worry about it.  Don't cancel tour because you can't let your fans down.  It's all going to be fine.  Just hang in there for me, the girls, your sisters, and your fans."  I smiled and he smiled back at me.

"Okay.  I believe you.  Thanks for the pep talk Sarah."

"No problem.  Anytime."

"But don't beat yourself up because of me.  I'll be okay."

I smiled.  "That's my boy."  We were staring into each other's eyes just enjoying the moment when my phone rang.  "Sorry, it's Liz."

"No, it's fine."  Louis said, releasing my hand so I could walk outside.

"Hey Liz."

"Hey, I just wanted to let you know that it went great.  Thanks for giving me that pep talk earlier."

I laughed to myself because that's just what Louis said.  I must be getting good at this stuff.  "No problem at all.  So, it went well?"

"Yes it did.  He was totally understanding and he promised he'd help and would always be there for me."  I could almost hear the smile through the phone.

"That's great Liz!  Hey, I have to go, Louis and I are out for dinner, but we can talk more later, okay?"

"Okay.  Have fun at dinner!  Thank you again."

"No problem!  Thanks."  And with that I hung up and walked back into the building.

"Hey sorry love," I told Louis as I slid in across from him.

"It's no problem," he responded with the biggest smile on his face.  "What did Liz want?"

"Oh she was just telling me how it went, you know, her talking to Liam.  Apparently it went really well."

"That's great!  I'm happy for them."

"Ya, me too.  So, where are you guys going for tour?"

"Well we have around 60 shows planned, all in major cities.  We are playing in the Staples center first, and then we are going to places like Miami, Dallas, New York, and even reaching up into Canada for a few shows."

"Wow!  Sounds like you are going to have so much fun Lou!"

"Ya, I am getting pretty excited about it to be honest."

"I'm glad," I said as Dylan, our waiter, brought out our food.  This time I was positive he winked at me.  I smiled back politely, and turned back to my plate.  Louis and I ate and talked for ages until the check finally came.  Dylan handed it to Louis and then gave me a slip of paper before winking one last time.  Louis was giving the boy daggers as I slowly unfolded the paper slip.  It said, 'Hello beautiful.  I notice you're on a date and everything, but I was wonder if you wanted to ditch and hang out with me.  Just give me a call.'  Under the note he had written his number.  Louis had finished signing the receipt and noticed I was giggling.  I handed him the paper and looked him in the eye when he was done scanning it.  "Poor kid thinking he had a chance."  I told Louis as I saw his smile grow.  I motioned for him to give me the paper back and a pen.  He handed them over and I scribbled back a response.

'Hi hun.  It was really cute of you to think you had a chance, but I am perfectly fine with this MAN that knows how to treat women.  Maybe you can try the girl two tables down with her dad.  Good luck!'  I handed it to Louis who laughed and added something to the end.  He handed it back and I laughed at what he had written.  'Next time mate, you should steer clear of girls with world famous boyfriends who can destroy your world with the push of a twitter submit button.  Oh, and no tip. :)'  I then took out my phone and snapped a picture, sending it in a group message to Lexi, Katie, and Liz.  "To My Girls: This is how we deal with flirters who can't take hints."

Louis and I got up from the table and walked to the front, watching our table from around a corner.  We watched Dylan walk up to the table and immediately pick up the note, a mixture of sadness and anger flashing across his face.  Louis took my hand and we laughed the entire way home.

(A/N: I'm so sorry about this guys.  I had exams. :/ Ew.  I'm almost done with them though, so updating should become more frequent.  Sorry again. xx)
