Sarah is 18, but her life is far from any other high school senior's. Her mother died when she was 16; her father became a drug addict, smoker, alcoholic, and Sarah's worst nightmare. Why? Well, he abuses her.

Sarah doesn't tell anyone though, not even her best (and only) friend Lexi because her father told her that he would hurt her little sisters that her mother left her to raise when it became clear her father wouldn't be able to.

Sarah goes to work one day expecting it to be like every other day. Little does she know she is in for one heck of a surprise.

11. I Want You To

Louis POV:

We had finished dinner and were all in the living room hanging out and talking.  Lexi and Niall were hitting it off and Liam, Zayn, and Harry couldn’t get enough of Sarah’s sisters, so I took the opportunity to ask Sarah to go on a walk.

We were walking silently hand in hand but I just had to know the answer to the question that has been on my mind since I met her.  There was no real easy way to say it so I ended up just blurting it out.

“Sarah, what are you going to do once you do get custody of your sisters?”

Her face went as white as snow as she timidly said, “I don’t know Louis.  I want to take them somewhere where I can care for them and they can grow up happily.  But I can’t just intrude and take over Lexi’s house.  Oh Louis, what am I going to do?” she started sobbing and I stopped and hugged her.

“You can come live with me and the boys.  We have a guest room that can be turned into a bedroom for you, Autumn, and Lilliana,” I offered.

Her eyes got big as she started to protest.  I quickly shut her up by placing my lips on hers.  Our lips moved in sync as the kiss went on.  “I want you too,” I told her as we pulled away.

“Okay.  But one there’s one more thing I haven’t figured out.  How am I going to get custody of them?” she asked me in a timid voice, tears continuing to stream down her face.

“I only met them yesterday but I already love them.  Please, let me help.  Let me pay for you to get a custody court date.  Please.”  I could tell she was a little unsure but she gave in.

“Thank you Louis,” she said as she wrapped her arms around me.  I could feel my shirt getting wet with her tears but that just caused me to hold her tighter.  When I finally pulled away I lifted her chin up so she was looking at me.

“Please don’t cry.  I am going to help you fix this.  It’s going to be okay.  I promise,” I tried convincing her.  No matter what I said she kept crying.  I placed my hand on her check and she winced at the impact.  Her tears were running her make-up and I saw a bruise the shape of a hand print on her face.  What happened?

“What happened Sarah?”  I asked, concern clear in my voice.

“M-my da-ad.  H-he,” and that’s all she was able to get out before she started crying harder.

No.  I knew I should’ve gone with her today.  “And you’re scared?”  She nodded.  I wasn’t letting her go with Lexi tonight.  I wanted to watch over her and protect her.  It was going to be me.  “Do you want to stay with me tonight?  Your sisters and even Lexi can stay too if they want.  I just want to keep you safe.”

She nodded before burying her face in my chest.  It pained me to see her this way.  I can’t even imagine what other pain she must be in physically and emotionally.  I want to help her.  Protect her.  Be there for her.  I will fix this.

Sarah’s POV:

I stopped Louis halfway up the driveway.  “I don’t want to go in there.  I don’t want them to see me this way,” I said, my voice still a little shaky.

Louis looked at me with sad eyes.  “They won’t.  My room is the one at the end of the hallway.  Go and I’ll meet you in there.”

I nodded as I walked slowly up to the door.  Louis opened it and went into the living room while I went upstairs.

I waited just like he told me to, a few tears slowly trickling down my face.  He came up about five minutes later, my bag in hand.  I forgot I had put in Lexi’s car.

“What did you tell them?” I asked, worried of what the answer was going to be.

“I told them you and your sisters were going to stay here tonight and asked Lexi if she wanted to as well.  She ended up declining because she said she had too much homework to do.  She left a couple minutes ago, after giving me your bag.  I told the boys you didn’t feel good.  They are going to put the girls to sleep.  Any special instructions?”  I was relieved.  He had handled this so well.

“Just that they need to be in bed in an hour.  Other than that, I trust you and the boys can take care of it.”

“Okay.  Thanks.  Do you need anything?” he asked as he gave me a sympathetic look.

“Actually, yes.  Do you think I could use your shower?”

He nodded and pointed me to it.  I thanked him and went to go shower and get ready for bed.
