Sarah is 18, but her life is far from any other high school senior's. Her mother died when she was 16; her father became a drug addict, smoker, alcoholic, and Sarah's worst nightmare. Why? Well, he abuses her.

Sarah doesn't tell anyone though, not even her best (and only) friend Lexi because her father told her that he would hurt her little sisters that her mother left her to raise when it became clear her father wouldn't be able to.

Sarah goes to work one day expecting it to be like every other day. Little does she know she is in for one heck of a surprise.

18. Celebrating

I was so happy I couldn't even contain it. "Louis, I am so happy right now!" I exclaimed. "Why don't we get everyone Nando's as a surprise?"

Louis looked at me from the corner of his eye. "Wow you are happy. Sure, I'm starving anyway." He turned into the parking lot and he, I, and the girls went in to order. After we had taken the food to the car, we started driving. When we were about 5 minutes away from home, I turned around to see Autumn and Lilliana were asleep, so Louis and I took the time to talk.

"So when do we leave to go to your mum's?"

"Well I was thinking Sunday so then we could have the rest of the week here to spend with our friends, and then we could spend a week with my family."

I nodded my head as he continued. "I already talked to my mum and my old car is there for your use Sarah. So is anything in the kitchen. You don't need to worry about getting a job or anything, because I am paying. If you try to pay for anything, I will pay you back so haha!"

"Fine! I won't pay! Thanks for everything Louis. I don't know what I'd do if I had to be here alone."

"No problem baby. Anything for you," he said kissing my hand.

Right when we pulled into the neighborhood I heard my ringtone for Lexi. "Hello?" I asked.

"OMG how did it go and when are you coming home?" She rushed out.

"Well are pulling in now and we will tell you all how it went once we get inside. Can you get the boys to start setting the table? We brought food."

"Of course I can! See you in a few!"

As soon as we got the girls woken up we went inside, only to be greeted by five hyper boys and two girls shaking their heads at them. "Guys we will tell you everything after we get out of these clothes," Louis said, holding a still half asleep Autumn. He handed Liam the bag of food then grabbed my hand and walked upstairs with me. We gave Autumn some pajamas and she went into her room to change. I quickly changed Lilliana and then grabbed some comfortable clothes for me. I waited until Louis came out of the bathroom to go in there and change. I came out and Louis was sitting on the bed with Autumn and Lilliana, writing for me.

"Let's go!" I yelled, running out of the room. As we ran into the kitchen we saw that all the food had been set out and that they were all waiting. As soon as we sat down, I looked at Louis who gave me a little smile and nod. I took a deep breath. "Well, we won! But there was a catch. In order for me to adopt them, someone else had to to. That person ended up being Louis. So you are looking at the Kate-Tomlinson family!"

The table erupted in cheers and Katie and Lexi came over and gave us both hugs while the boys shouted congratulations. We told them we couldn't tell them what happened in the courtroom because we weren't allowed to. They all understood and continued to congratulate us throughout dinner.

When we were done we all helped clean up and then decided to watch a movie. We let Autumn pick, and she picked Tangled. We all got comfortable and pressed play. Liam and Zayn were on the smaller couch, Harry and Katie were snuggled together under a blanket in one of the big chairs the boys had, Niall and Lexi mimicked them in the other chair, and I was sitting with Louis on the big couch with the girls on either side of us. Louis leaned his head on my shoulder, and about 3 minutes into the movie I heard his soft snoring. I don't blame him either! It was my fault he was up all night trying to comfort me. I leaned down to kiss his forehead and then snuggled deeper into the blanket surrounding all four of us. I looked around the room at everyone else who was awake and watching the movie, Louis and the girls being the only ones asleep. As I took in my surroundings, I was overwhelmed at what amazing people I got to call my friends. Yes, they may be celebrating a win in court by watching a children's' movie, but that's what made them special, and I loved them for it. I eventually turned back to the movie, but I couldn't shake away my thoughts.

Everyone else was asleep so I turned off the movie and laid my head on Louis' chest, falling asleep to the rhythm of his breathing.
