Broken Wings

5 years since One Direction had made their last album together. Everyone had gone their separate ways, leaving Harry Styles all alone. No one in the band had spoken since the day that separated them forever. There was a sudden increase in demand to want the boys back together. If it were the fans who supported them from the beginning and when they broke up, it will be the fans to fix the broken wings by helping to put the band back together.

Sharing a room with the guys didn't help our current situation. Breakfast wasn't pleasant either. We all entered the dining area and were forced to sit at a table together. The seat arrangement was: Harry, Niall, Liam, Louis, and me. I had to be in-between Harry and Louis.

"Can't we all just get along?" Harry asked.

"No." Louis replied. We all hated being her together, except for Harry. "Why not?" Niall asked. What a great way to bring up an argument. I thought to myself.

"Why are we even discussing this?" Liam asked. I had to agree with Liam. Why were we discussing the possibility of us getting along? "Can't we all just eat?" I asked. It was random and the food was getting cold. The guys just looked at me, except Niall who already began eating.

Niall wasn't following my advice. He was always hungry. Eventually the rest of us began to eat, but we all ate in silence. None of us bothered to start a conversation with one another. "What caused the break up anyway?" Liam asked.

We looked at each other. Hardly any of us had an actual answer to the question. "You brought up the idea of whether or not we should write another album." I answered.

"Louis brought up the idea of going solo." Niall added. He had already finished his food while the rest of us were eating. "But why?" Harry asked, glancing over at Louis.

"Didn't you want to break off from the band?" Louis asked.

"No, not really. As much as I wanted to, we were closer as a band. Look at us now, this one fight go us into this huge mess." Harry said.

"But do our fans want us back?" I asked.

Silence hit the room fast. I bet that question ran through everyone's minds. Our fans were the answer to our problems. They were what it came down to in the end. None of us stated our full opinion on what our fans thought about us coming together as a band. But they always supported us through every challenge we faced. Even if we couldn't find a way to bond, our fans were our only hope to bring us back together.

"They did support us since The X Factor days and were there while we were on tour. Do you guys have a little bit of hope that they're going to support us now?"

The guys continued to stay silent and I wondered if bringing up the question brought a lot of memories to their minds. It had to because it brought back all the fun times when we were together.

"How's the bonding going?" Simon asked.

"Not so great." Harry spoke up for the rest of us. We all knew how much this band meant to Harry. We were once a family and we all loved being around each other. But why did the thought of going solo break us apart? "Well, meet us back at the studio in two hours." Simon said, then left the dining area with Paul.

"Do they expect us to sing together or what?" Liam asked.

"Well, I choose not to sing at all." Louis said, slouching back in his seat as he crossed his arms over his chest. "It'll be just like old times." Harry said.

"Old times?" Louis raised an eyebrow, letting out a small chuckle. "Always getting the lead? Yeah, right..." He rolled his eyes, slightly shaking his head. We all knew what point he was trying to make. Of course it wasn't fair to Louis or Niall that they were given smaller parts in our songs.

"You didn't complain about it five years ago." Harry said.

"Well, it's different now, isn't it?" Louis asked.

"Ever since you went solo, you've been acting..." Harry trailed off.

"What? I'm not the same person anymore?"

"Exactly. You're not... you." Harry stood up and stormed out of the room, leaving the four of us at the table. Niall and I exchanged glances with Liam, but Louis hadn't made eye contact with either one of us. Liam stood up and walked out of the room, following Harry.

Of course Louis had changed a bit. He wasn't the same guy as he was five years ago. It seemed like he... matured a bit over the years. He spent more time with Eleanor and being away from the band gave him all the time in the world to be with her.

"I am me. What is he talking about?" Louis asked, looking at both Niall and I. Niall shrugged, leaving me to tell Louis exactly what Harry meant. "He just means you're not the same Louis you were five years ago, you know, fun." I answered.

"I'm still fun." Louis said.

"Oh yeah? When was the last time you pulled a prank?" Niall asked.

Louis hesitated to answer. Usually, without any hesitation there would be an answer. "Okay, I may not remember the last prank I pulled, but I grew up." he said. "We all did."

"Even if we all grew up, that doesn't mean that one day we would break up. None of us wanted it to come down to this five years ago." I said. Louis knew that I was right. But of course, he still didn't want to reconcile with Harry. "You and Harry were best friends." Niall said.

"It was Harry who stopped talking to me." Louis said, standing up and walking out of the room. Niall and I just sat at the table, staring blankly after Louis had walked out. Thoughts were definitely going through our minds about what Louis had said.

Was Louis telling the truth? I asked myself. "What are we going to do with Harry and Louis? Simon and Paul want us at the studio in two hours." Niall told me.

"We'll just find away to get them to work together." I said.
