Broken Wings

5 years since One Direction had made their last album together. Everyone had gone their separate ways, leaving Harry Styles all alone. No one in the band had spoken since the day that separated them forever. There was a sudden increase in demand to want the boys back together. If it were the fans who supported them from the beginning and when they broke up, it will be the fans to fix the broken wings by helping to put the band back together.

7. Louis

“Do you really mean it? No One Direction?” Zayn asked me once we got back to the hotel. Once we finish recording the last few songs on the album that Simon’s releasing, I could finally be done with all of this getting the band back together nonsense. “Yes I mean it.” I said. “Throughout the years, have you ever noticed who gets the most attention out of the entire band? Harry. It’s always Harry this and Harry that.”

“C’mon Lou, this is just not all about Harry.” Zayn said. I knew he was right. This whole thing wasn’t mostly about Harry. Five years ago, none of us really thought that we were going to break up for good. We talked about staying in contact and now I thought that maybe going solo was a bad idea.

“What do you think our fans would say?” I asked Zayn as I sat down on the couch in our suite that we shared with the other three. Zayn shrugged and sat down. “Maybe they want us back together.” he answered. “They were a big part of our career.”

Zayn was right. I sighed and took out my phone to call my manager. I told him to hold-off on the rest of the tour. Sure he was furious, but I told him that there were other problems I needed to solve with my former band. I hung up as the other three walked into the room, closing the door behind them.

“So, what were the results?” I asked the guys.

“Inconclusive.” Liam answered. Zayn and I looked at each other. It meant that some of our fans didn’t want us together. “How are we going to persuade them now?” Harry asked.

“With your good looks.” I muttered under my breath. Most of what I said was true. The girls couldn’t resists his good looks, but was still unable to get himself a steady girlfriend. “That’s not funny.” Harry said. I rolled my eyes and asked, “What do you guys have in mind?”

“We finish our new album and then we can decide.” Liam said.

“How about we drop the subject and hang out like we normally do?” Niall suggested. Of course Niall hated to be the guy to pick sides, but it seemed that he had already made his choice. “How about no.” Zayn replied.

A knock came at the door and Liam answered the door as Simon entered our room. “Tomorrow we’re going on a field trip.” he said. The five of us exchanged glances with each other. None of us really liked the idea of going on a field trip with Simon. “Be ready by 7.” he said.

“Seven!?” We all asked as he nodded. With that, he told us good bye and walked out of the room as Liam closed the door behind him. The next morning, we all got ready by the specified time Simon told us to get ready.

We all got in the car. “Where are you taking us?” Niall asked Simon, but of course, Simon didn’t say a single word to us the entire ride to where we were going. Finally the car stopped in front of a building and we all got out of the car.

“Why did you bring us here?” Harry asked Simon. We were in front of the building for The X Factor. Simon still hadn’t spoken a single word, even after we entered the building. As soon as we entered the building, Simon told us go to onstage.

“If you are trying to get us back together, I don't believe that putting us back on the X Factor stage will do anything." Zayn said. Simon sat down in the judges chair and looked up at us. I had a feeling that he missed being here and criticizing or commenting on how the five of us sang our chosen song.

"Don't you guys miss being onstage?" he asked us.

"Of course we do Simon, but how is being onstage going to bring us together?" Harry asked.

"Boys, I don't think you're seeing the picture." Simon stood up and left us alone. All of us stood onstage, looking at each other clueless. None of us really understood what Simon was getting at. "I am so confused." Niall said. I figured that we all were confused. Microphones stood before us and I had to fight every temptation in my body to sing.

"What message is Simon trying to tell us?" Liam asked.

"Why don't you figure it out?" I asked him and then walked off the stage, leaving the guys. I went to where all the rooms were and sighed, leaning against the wall. Why did some of our fans want us together and some were against it? Had it finally come down to going our separate ways in our careers?

My phone rang and I checked the caller ID. "Hey El." I greeted Eleanor. I knew she was worried about me and was just checking up to see how everything was going. "Babe, I don't know if the band's getting back together." She was my biggest fan from the beginning. "Don't get back together because your fans told you so." she told me. After that, she hung up.

Eleanor was right. I hung up and walked back into the auditorium to hear that the guys were arguing. "We have to go back to the studio." I said. The guys stopped their arguing in mid-sentence and looked at me. "What?" Harry asked.

"I spoke to Eleanor. Why should we listen to our fans about getting back together?" I asked them.

"Are you saying that it should be our choice to get back together?" Zayn asked as I nodded. The guys looked at each other and Niall asked, "What do you guys say?"
