Don't Forget Where You Belong

Lisa and her best friend Lauren are two best friends who are super shy but are well known around school because of their parents. The get accepted to a top notch college in England and take their journey.

Lauren and I walk up to mine and Dani’s room. Lauren usually sleeps in here since Katherine, Christina, and Amy share a room. We walk to the closet and get some clubbing clothes out. Lauren goes with a simple black pencil skirt, a pink tank top, and a black cardigan. I on the other hand will be the lazy one and just wear a dress.

I go to my parent’s room and tell them that we are going to our friend, Ryan’s, graduation party. We both shower to get the salt and stuff from the beach off of our bodies and leave. We get in the car and discuss where we are going. Instead of Ryan really having a party he tells his parents that he just wants to chill with friends. Us three decided to go to this place called Aladins, it’s basically a hookah bar. We decide to blast Lauren’s iPhone music in my car with all the windows down. The first song that plays is 3000 miles by Emblem 3. I laugh at how similar we are.

After Ryan walks to my house and gets in the car we head to Aladins. We get there in a total of 15 minutes. I look at the time and it’s 8:37. Perfect. Enough time to smoke some hookah and get back home before 12.

When it is about 10:30 we decide to leave and we get back to the house before 11. We walk down to the beach that is less than 2 minutes to get to. Lauren goes to walk in the water. “Hey Lauren! We will be over here.” I gestured to a huge rock that Ryan and I always sit on when we talk. Nobody knows, not even Lauren, but Ryan and I have been secretly dating each other for about 3 months. We just thought so many people would make fun of us since we have known each other since we were 5.

I climb up on the rock and Ryan stays down in the sand. “Aren’t you coming up?” I ask. He looks like he wants to say something.

“What’s wrong?” I ask him.

“Nothing…nothing at all” he lies. I know he is lying because he only stutters when he is lying.

“Can’t fool me. Tell me.” I insist. He stands there for a few second quiet.

“Fine” he says. “what will happen to us when you leave?” he looks away not wanting to know the answer.

I honestly never thought of the outcome of what would actually happen when I left for England.

“Honestly I don’t know.” With him staying here and going to UCLA and me going to Greenwich I feel that that would be too far.

“Would you consider…” he  starts but doesn’t finish. I know exactly what he was going to say.

“No” I reply. He snaps his head up facing me. “I don’t mean it in that way though. I feel that we have known each other for 13 years. I feel that we should just stay friends, the way it has been since kindergarten.” I tell him.

“Yeah you are right. Before we officially break up could we possibly have one last kiss?” he asks. By this time I get off of the huge rock and stand in front of him. and walk to him. I grab his cheeks and pull his face towards mine and kiss him.

“Well I guess this is goodbye huh” Ryan asks. I nod and hear something.

I hear a faint call for me and Ryan.  “Shit its Lauren. Uhm I know this is bad timing for something to happen like this, but always remember that I will never forget
