3. The 2nd Doctor

Patrick Troughton, number two,

He was funny, so we stuck with him like glue.

He ran, he joked, he laughed and played,

A Sonic Screwdriver and recorder came to his aid.

Polly is sure The Doctor is here,

But Ben thinks instead an imposter is near.

In The Power of the Daleks, he gets them onside,

But from the Daleks they want to hide.

They defeat the Daleks, but their power sizes,

As TARDIS disappears a Dalek eyestalk rises...

In The Highlanders, we meet a long serving companion and friend,

Jamie Mcrimmon and The Doctor will make a comedy blend.

There's Atlantis and new Cybermen in The Moonbase,

And giant crabs called Macra they will have to embrace.

Then at Gatwick, leaving The Doctor and Jamie alone,

Ben and Polly depart for home.

Now for what was thought the Daleks last story,

The Evil of the Daleks gave those monsters glory.

Introducing new companion Victoria Waterfield,

After the death of her father, with The Doctor and Jamie she healed.

They watch the Daleks go up in flames,

'The final end of the Daleks' The Doctor claims.

Then we have Tomb of the Cybermen, with Cybermats and tombs,

The Cybermen slept in their own little room.

They seal the site, locking them all in, but what they didn't notice was that little rat,

It escaped from the tomb, that Cybermat.

The Abominable Snowmen, or Yeti come next,

Monasteries and chases in Tibet.

Travers thinks the Doctor's dealt with them but when they depart,

He spots one and his investigation starts.

Then we see the hissing Martians that are green,

Quite short, with hands like claws, and slightly lean.

One of the classic enemies to be reinvented

The Ice Warriors will never be dented.

Victoria in 1967, and Clara in 2013 screamed themselves hoarse,

Why? Because the Martian menace is terrifying, of course.

The Enemy of the World, who we thought was good,

Seemed to wear a dark hood.

No, it's Salamander, just a copy of the Time Lord,

It seems Salamander's plan was indeed, flawed.

In The Web of Fear, the Yeti return,

With fluffy faces looking stern.

It's here we are first introduced to the Brigadier,

Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart, the UNIT personnel will be in Who for many a year.

Next there's Fury From the Deep,

A load of Seaweed in a heap,

It's this episode that leaves Jamie sad,

But here Victoria's glad,

Life in the TARDIS was too much,

She didn't want to end up with a crutch.

So she stayed with a family in the century 21st,

Holding back her tears on the beach, she looked like she would burst.

Then we have The Wheel in Space,

And The Doctor will be put through pace,

With Cybermen and Zoe Heriot an Astrophysicist, indeed a clever girl,

The competition between The Doctor and Zoe may make someone's blood curl.

Here the main alias is introduced, it seems now just like a myth,

Used for generations, the name, John Smith.

Then the TARDIS leaves reality, then UNIT, Benton and Krotons too,

Alien fungus is coming to menace me and you.

One of Zoe's lines will make you laugh with glee,

She says, about The Doctor: "He's almost as clever as me!"

Then here comes the pivotal story,

The War Games, with terrifying glory.

The Time Lords, the name is revealed,

And now the 2nd Doctor's fate is sealed.

The Time Lords are at war, and when they get rid of the Warlord,

The Doctor's crimes are explored.

They forcefully make Jamie and Zoe move on,

And all adventures with The Doctor are now foregone.

They don't know it, but they have forgotten him completely,

But it was so done kindly, secretly and sweetly.

They then put the Doctor on trial,

For stealing the TARDIS and keeping it a while.

He defends himself, he's fought a billion,

Of mad person or creature, every villain.

They accept this, but make him forget the controls,

Then they begin to tamper with his souls...

His face goes blurry, making him giddy,

We'll miss this Doctor, he was fun, and kiddy.

He screams, in pain and confusion, many times: 'No!'

We now know it's he 2nd Doctor's time to go.

There are many ways to describe, but an easier translation,

One word, one magician, it’s called: ‘Regeneration.’

A new face, a new man,

New advenutres, a new companion clan,

We must remember the first funny one,

And how he had a great three year run.
