A Secret is Meant to be Kept

When Ron lashes out at Hermione and gets them into a sticky situation, Hermione transports herself back in time. But the Marauders Era was a bit farther than she expected. She must figure out how to reverse the spell, deal with falling in love all over again and fight against some of the most notorious Death Eaters, who are inside the castle's walls. Not as intruders, but as classmates.

38. This Was the Room

As the couple arrived to the area James had described, they were in good nature with everything.  Hermione was at her happiest, and Sirius was beaming.

"What's gotten into you lot?" said Carressa.

"Hmm?" Said Hermione, looking up from staring at her shoes.  "Me!  Oh, nothing!" She continued, still smiling.

"Mhmm..."  Carressa trailed off.

Hermione finally had a chance to fully take in the house standing before her.  It looked oddly familiar to her, but she couldn't put a finger on it.

"Can I have a look inside?" Hermione asked.

"Well.  Yeah... 'Mione. Uh, you don't really need to ask."  Said Remus, and Lily giggled.

Hermione walked into the home,  and took in her surroundings.  Apparently, Lily already had time to decorate!  So like her, wasn't it.  She could see her taste in colors, and furniture, and was amazed at her progress,  had they really been gone that long?  While she looked at everything, she saw a slight contrast of the girliness of the potential sitting room.  She could tell a man had forced a say in this, and she had a feeling it wasn't Remus.  The place was actually quite comfortable looking, very inviting, and Hermione still questioned if this was all done on a whim, and she felt that Lily had already had a few ideas in her head.  For how long, she hadn't a clue.  She still had no idea why this place reminded her of something.

"Why... Why is this so familiar?" She mumbled to herself.  As she opened a door on her left in the upstairs hallway, the images came flooding back into her memory.  The powdered/baby blue, sort of white looking room brought her back.  An image, Godric's Hollow.  She could see it, the home of Bathilda Bagshot, but it wasn't really her...  Nagini, the snake, they had exploded into the little room on the side of the house, magically saved, for years... Years... Though, Hermione couldn't reason why she could see the room, or the scene itself.  Whatever it was, it hadn't happened yet!  As she looked around the room, it brought her grievance.  This was the room that all started it.  The room, Harry's old room, his nursery.  This was the home.  The home Lily and James would die in.  The home where 'The Boy Who Lived' would earn his scar.  Hermione slid her back down the side of the blue wall, and broke down in tears.
