Don't Look For Me

Cayn gets overwhelmed with her life, her boyfriend doesn't seem right for her, and her family falling apart piece by piece. She runs away from home, only to meet up with a girl named Dee.

6. Away

Feet on pavement. Running. Hard. Running. Running.

Trees, houses, cars, flashed by me. More cars, more trees, homes, yards. Dogs, dog owners, babies in carriages. My house. I stop. Slammed the door open. My breath came in heaves. No one will miss me. My parents will stop arguing, and get over me. Wiping my tears away, I overturned my backpack and books onto the floor. I stuffed clothes, a blanket, toothbrush and paste, and soap into the big pocket of the backpack. I packed my lives savings ($60.00) into the small front pocket along with my phone. Screw Beck. Screw Jake. Screw school... screw life. I raced upstairs and located my razor. Smiling bitterly, I tucked my weapon into the main pocket of my backpack, and snatched up my pillow.

Goodbye house. Goodbye mom and dad. Goodbye life.

I leaped down the stairs, and slammed the front door.

Now that I had let go, I chased down the nearest bus, showed them my school ID and got on, riding to anywhere. As long as it wasn't here, I was fine. I am running away from my life, I laughed. Who cares? Who'll miss me? No one.

I would not cause any stir by leaving, I thought.
