3. Diagon Alley

Standing in a small street filled with people dressing in pointed hats and cloaks, Sophie’s mouth fell open. This was amazing. Real life witches and wizards everywhere. “OK, what’s first on your list, Soph?” her mum asked giving her daughter a nudge. Sophie looked down at the list in her hand. “Uniform.” She said swiftly.

Her mum looked around and spotted a shop called Madame Malkin’s Robes For All Occasions. “Let’s try there.” She said pointing at the shop. After about half an hour of shopping around for uniform and books, Sophie and her mother headed to a shop called Ollivander’s Wand Shop. “Good day, Madame.” A man behind the counter said as they entered. “We’re looking for a wand for my daughter.” Sophie’s mum explained.

“Ah,” The man nodded and picked out three boxes from one of the shelves. “Try this one.” He said handing Sophie the wand. To be completely honest, Sophie didn’t really think it was a wand at all until she waved it. This caused one of the shelves to brake. “No, apparently not,” The man sighed giving Sophie another one. Feeling nervous, she waved the wand. A glass of water smashed.

“No, no. Defiantly not.” The man frowned as he handed Sophie the third wand. The flame in the lamp on the counter started to flicker vigorously as a cool breeze blew through Sophie’s mousy brown hair. “Ah, 11 inches, holly with a dragon heartstring core.” The man said. “Is that was it’s made of?” Sophie asked nervously after plucking up the courage to speak. The man nodded as Sophie and her mother left the shop.

“I’m hungry,” Sophie’s mum said “Do you want to get some ice cream?”

“OK.” Sophie replied as they headed into Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream Parlour. Looking up at the different flavours, Sophie saw a column that read Muggle Flavours.  Reading thought the list beneath it she could tell muggle had nothing to do with magic. So she ordered one scoop of chocolate chip cookie dough just to be safe.

After enjoying the ice cream, Sophie and her mum continued to buy school supplies. If this place is amazing I wonder what Hogwarts will be like She thought with a smile.
