4. Back To Hogwarts

On the Hogwarts Express, Chloe and her friends, Harry, Ron and Hermione, were talking about what they did over the summer. “I got your letter, Ron,” Chloe smiled “Egypt looks awesome.”

“I know right.” Hermione agreed. “Well it beats staying with the Dursleys,” Harry sighed “Even Paris and Krakow sound like good places to visit.”

“Don’t worry, Harry,” Chloe hugged her friend “I’ll see if you can come with me next time. Next year I might be going to Ibiza.”

As they chattered the train reached Hogsmeade Station. Then Chloe, Ron, Harry and Hermione boarded one of the self-driven carriages up to the school. When the carriages arrived in front of the castle, Chloe was separated from the others as she was a Slytherin and they were Gryffindors. Being in Slytherin sucks Chloe thought as she sat down next to Pansy Parkinson and her besties, Daphne Greengrass and Laurel Monkhouse. “Chloe, why is it that you hang out with those loosers instead of us?” Pansy said pointing to Harry, Ron and Hermione as she spoke.

“Because they aren’t selfish and snobby. Plus they don’t criticise muggle-borns.” Chloe snapped at her as the first-years filed into the Great Hall. But then she noticed one girl was a lot taller than the other first-years. In fact she looked about Chloe’s age. Possibly a new girl Chloe thought as Professor McGonagall read out the list of first-years to be sorted.

“Gording, Lydia.”

“Lynsey, Evan.”

“Simsek, Naomi.”

As the sorting ceremony went on, Chloe started to feel really bored just sitting there and watching. But the Professor McGonagall made a quick announcement. “Now before we begin the feast there is a new forth-year student who has to be sorted.” Then she checked her list “Trickett, Sophie.” The girl from the back of the first-year crowd sat down on the stool as Professor McGonagall put the sorting head on her head of shoulder length mousy brown hair.

Chloe crossed her fingers for Sophie Trickett not to be in Slytherin and suffer like her. Then after an intense two minutes the sorting hat shouted “Gryffindor!” Everyone at the Gryffindor table clapped and cheered. Chloe was also doing this but mentally. Then after a few words from Professor Dumbledore the feast began. As she took a couple of chicken legs and potatoes, Chloe watched as Crabbe and Goyle, two forth-year Slytherin boys, stuffed their faces with food. Watching them eat made her feel anorexic.

Once the feast was over, Chloe walked slowly behind the rest of the Slytherins heading towards Slyhterin Dungeon. She had always wanted to be in Gryffindor but the sorting hat thought otherwise. It was probably her short temper and the way she refuses to do any work if it was so difficult for her. But Chloe could still imagine herself in a vibrant red and yellow tie instead of a murky green and grey one.
