Set Her Free

Harry Styles has known something is wrong with him for most of his life. He's wicked smart and really nice, but people don't hang out with him. He gets called 'gay' on a daily basis, although he doesn't know what that means until third grade. He gets called 'weak' when he plays sports, because he's not good at them. He spends too much time looking at the cheerleaders. But it's not because he wants them. He wants to be one of them.

15. Teri-Lynn+Luna=Teri-Luna

Harriet had no plans anymore. Her jobs were taking up too much time, and she didn't know where to start with any of them.

Niall and Liam would know something was up, like two dogs on a hunt, and would undoubtedly question her on it.

Louis would offer support, she knew he would, but she still had to explain it to him.

Zayn...she didn't know anymore what that fucker thought. She meant fucker affectionately, but still. It would be so hard to do.

But she had to be free sometime.

Her dysphoria was getting steadily worse, and it now came along with a wave of depression. She would just be sitting in the three-walls-of-glass ticket booth and be struck with the lightning-like sense of 'Do I really need to waste all of my money on transitioning?'

Or she would be strolling along, delivering the plates of food to the waiting customers, when her smiles and cheery voice became fake. She would call herself stupid, crazy, a boy that needs help for wanting breasts.

Not even being around the boys helped anymore. They made her constantly watch her words, her actions, everything, just in order to keep her secret. It was making her bitter, annoyed. She was snappy whenever she was spoken to, and the boys made jokes about her being on 'his man-period.'

If only she was so lucky.

She knew she was being an ass nearly every day, she knew she was. But she just didn't care. Finally, a few weeks before the party, they stopped hanging out with her almost altogether. She was always so surly, and Louis was the only one that could get through to her.

The only things that made her happy anymore were Luna and fixing herself up to pass perfectly.

She had met Teri-Lynn recently, and she'd shown her her before-and-after-op pictures. Teri-Lynn had had everything done, from her face to her private bits to her new wardrobe. Luna had had everything but the leg-and-stomach hair removal, the counseling, and wardrobe done. They looked really cute together, Harriet noticed as she had watched them interact and tell her their stories. So she'd asked the obvious.

"Are you girls, like, together?"

Luna had laughed and shook her head, saying she was interested in guys. But Teri-Lynn hadn't said anything. That had made Harriet wonder for a while. That was so cute, though. Teri-Lynn maybe having a crush on Luna. She didn't blame her, the girl was gorgeous.

But other than that, their chat had gone well, and they'd given Harriet enough confidence to do her next step tomorrow.

Go out.

In public.

As her true self.
