Set Her Free

Harry Styles has known something is wrong with him for most of his life. He's wicked smart and really nice, but people don't hang out with him. He gets called 'gay' on a daily basis, although he doesn't know what that means until third grade. He gets called 'weak' when he plays sports, because he's not good at them. He spends too much time looking at the cheerleaders. But it's not because he wants them. He wants to be one of them.

32. Happy

She wouldn't let him see the letter. She was still visibly upset. Louis hugged and kissed on her on the way out to the car, upset for her. This was terrible.

"Let me drive." Harriet said, voice numb. He nodded and handed her the keys, which she traded with him for the paper. Harriet concentrated on the road as Louis read the letter.

She was so mad. And sad. And she felt this awful feeling in her stomach, like all of her guts had been fished out of her one by one. Louis had the grace not to read the letter out loud, but she already had it memorized so there was no point.

'Dear Ms. Styles,

We're terribly sorry, but you are too young to begin your hormone replacement therapy at the current time. If you still wish to proceed with this by the time you are eighteen years of age, then we can give you the letter. It would also be prudent that you lived for a year as a woman.

And then there was a loopy signature she couldn't decipher.

When Louis looked up, she only said one thing. "So I wasted all that time and money just for that. Three months I'll never get back and a hundred and fifty pounds I needed."

"Screw 'em." Louis replied, setting the paper into the glove box. "When you're eighteen, you and me'll take off. We'll get out of this hellhole for good."

"Really, Louis?"

"Hell yeah. I'm serious. I'm sick of this place. All these judgmental pricks. We'll leave. I'll help you pay for anything you need."

"Louis, you don't have to-"

"Yes, I do. My girlfriend needs something and she doesn't have the money to get it, but I do? Of course I'm gonna help you out."

She didn't reply for a while. They just drove along in then echoes of Louis' passionate statement. Through the town, down her road, into her driveway, parked. She turned to face him, and he turned to face her. They stared at each other, green into blue.

"Have I ever told you how much I love you?" She smiled so widely at him. She felt so much happier than she'd been before, all thanks to him.

"I've got a pretty good idea, love." He winked, and they kissed.

Later on, they were down in the basement. Harriet and Louis were just lazily kissing on her bed. She was sitting on his lap her arms around his neck, and his arms were encircling her waist. She had on a miniskirt and a white tank top, her hair curly. He merely had on boxers.

Shut up, they weren't doing anything like that. Louis just said it was more comfortable. Harriet was determined to remain a virgin until she graduated, at the very least. Which was only a few months away, they were just about to start the month of February. Close to her birthday. Graduation happened in April. But back to the boy kissing the girl.

He started to glide his hand up her back, sliding them over her shoulders to rest one hand on her chest.

"Can't wait for those.." He'd mumbled, and she slapped the back of his head gently.

"Weirdo.." She murmured back, holding onto him tightly as he started to lower her onto her back on the bed. She giggled when his hand glided down her tummy.

Neither of them noticed the rapid clicks outside of her window.

Louis smiled into the kiss and slid one hand up to continue feeling her body. She moved her hands down his back. All of a sudden, he jerked his hips like he was fucking her, like really fucking her, and she looked shocked.

Louis started laughing. He laughed so hard that he had to lean up off of Harriet and clutch his own chest. She rolled her eyes and pushed his shoulder, mumbling, "Asshole." even if she didn't mean it.

They stayed lost in their little heaven for the rest of the day.
