Set Her Free

Harry Styles has known something is wrong with him for most of his life. He's wicked smart and really nice, but people don't hang out with him. He gets called 'gay' on a daily basis, although he doesn't know what that means until third grade. He gets called 'weak' when he plays sports, because he's not good at them. He spends too much time looking at the cheerleaders. But it's not because he wants them. He wants to be one of them.

21. Costume Time!

Now Harriet was preparing her costume.

She was using every last tip the Luna had given her, everything she knew, and even searching out on trans* websites and other tutorials. She was so determined to be able to pass and be a good-looking girl. Hell, she didn't even have to be good-looking, just as long as she passed!

Because yes, she was wearing a skirt for this.

She had already applied her makeup and stuff. It was purple eyeliner that had been applied with a light hand, a dab or two of mascara, and of course the foundation that covered her Adam's apple. Light pink blush sparsely applied to her cheekbones gave the appearance of a constantly blushing Harriet, which upped 'cute' level, in her opinion.

She'd left the door unlocked, for once, because she was hoping that someone would come down so she could ask their opinion. She'd just say that Louis had dared her to do it. Gemma constantly made fun of her for being 'Louis' little slave'. She just liked a happy Louis, that was all.

That was all she was doing for makeup, save painting her nails a light sea-green. All twenty nails were to be the same shade, as she was to be wearing sandals that thinned her feet out, making them girlish.

What she was going to the party as was a mermaid princess. If anyone asked, that's what she would say.

Her 'costume' was a cute little number that was blue and green. The material of the dress itself was a shimmery blue, kind of like the ocean towards sunset, and it hugged her figure in all the right places. It came up just a little above her knees, showing off her shaved legs and adding curves to her lower half. It also happened to amplify her chest and make her shoulders shrink. She could not have chosen a better one. The added bonus to the mermaid part of her costume was the dress also had folds of this sheer green stuff, that almost looked like pretty seaweed coming off of the dress in waves. It was great, really.

And it had only been ten bucks!

She had already done up her chest, and straightened her hair. She'd put it up in an up'do, kind of like spirals. She'd curled a bit of it, the strands that hung down by her ears, so she'd have something to do when she became nervous. It was lined with a small string of pearls that matched her little earrings and necklace, again adding to the mermaid bit.

She'd shaved everywhere for this, all over herself. Just in case.

Legs, armpits, arms, tummy, chest, waist, face, even what she could reach on her back. She would not let her own body hair, something she /could/ control, ruin this. She'd plucked her eyebrows and even some of her nose hair! Which was quite a difficult job, but she'd managed after tearing up quite a lot during.

She would be wearing some nice beach-type perfume for it as well, and if she sat she would sit with her legs crossed. She hoped that she would be asked to dance, even though she wasn't a great dancer. It would only mean that people thought she was a natural girl.

She was currently admiring herself in the mirror, twisting this way and that to see if she appeared like a girl from all angles.

As far as she could tell?

Hell yeah.
