21. Love potions and Stories

"Are you sure?" Alice's whispering voice met my ears. "Definitely love potion?"

"I'm positive. There's nothing else that could do that to a person. Besides, she showed all the symptoms." This voice I didn't recognize. It was cold and raspy, definitely male.

"Well what can we do besides wait?" Rose's voice stepped in as it always did in conversation.

"Explain. This is going to take a lot of explaining." The voice responded.

Someone sighed from across the room and then the familiar voice of my brother Albus could be heard. ALBUS!! HE'S ALIVE! HE'S SAFE! Thank heavens!

"Now we just need to figure out how and why she was given the potion."

"Yeah," James said in deep thought, "that's gonna be tricky."

"Ya think?" Dominique said annoyed.

She's safe too? How many family members have we found since I was out? How long have I been out? I shifted my limbs at little to make sure I could move without any restraints and sure enough, I could. A small groan sounded from my lips causing the whole room to start sounding my name.

"Lily! Are you okay?"

"Feeling alright, Lil?"

"Lily thank goodness you're alright!"

"Oh we've got so much to tell you!"

Rose and Albus helped support me once O was standing up right.

"Al!" I said giving him a dizzy smile. "You're alright. I was so worried."

"Yeah, I'm here. And all in one piece." He responded sounding a little edgy. I would expect him to be though. The boy practically lives in the shadow of James, but then again so do I. Although I made my way out, when Albus made a home there. But he wasn't found first, even though we tried to find him first.

They set me down in an old school desk chair and surrounded me, all of them looking at me with anxious eyes. It made me feel like a child waiting to hear it's punishment.

The man who's voice I didn't recognize stood directly in front of me, studying every aspect of me. He took his time pacing back and forth in front of me, asking me to do things, like look at something in the distance and move this and flex that. Rose kept looking at him disapprovingly as he carried on. Her foot tapping the floor, arms crossed, and the occasional eye roll told me that him coming wasn't her idea. Finally she sighed and said bossily, "Done yet?"

He stood up and straightened his maroon cloak and looked at Rose through his thick glasses.

"Just about." He responded.

"Good. Now we can finally explain everything." Alice said exhaustedly.

"I'll start." Rose smartly.

"Please do." Victoure retorted sassily.

Rose pursed her lisps and began.

"Well first off, I speak for everyone when I say that leading up to the break in, you haven't been your self," She was right. I hadn't been myself lately, I don't know how to put my finger on it.

"And you just seemed not your bubbly self lately. Ever since the Teddy incident, to be exact."

"Because we know how you love to be exact." The man tartly.

Rose glared at him. "Who is telling the story?!"

"As I was saying, we thought it was the blood lose or something but that wasn't it. And then you met that boy, what's his name? Parker or Pattick or something?"

"Peter." I said quickly correcting her. I hope he's alright. I was a little peeved with him though.

"Peter, that's it!" She exclaimed and clapped her hands.

"Okay," I said looking around at the others, "Someone else tell the story."

"Alright! Sorry." Rose said continuing.

"But it turns out that you," she took a deep breath in. "You were intoxicated with a mediocre love potion."

The amount of questions swirling in my head were countless. I wouldn't describe it as swirling-no more like gunfire. The only question that could escape my mind and reach my lips was, "What?"

"A love potion." Dominique said fiddling with her hands.

"It would explain why you've been so different lately and why now you're fine." James said a-matter-o-factly.

"By who?" I ask.

The others look at each other nervously before Rose bites her lip and continues.

"We can't prove anything but-" She exhaled a sigh. "Signs point to, Peter."

Bam. It hit me all at once with full force. Much like a battering ram, right in my heart. Peter, the boy with the stunning eyes and devout love for Quittage. My first kiss, my first non family friend, gone. Bam.

"We think he gave you the Lilies, which contained the love potion, which would explain why you wanted to reach them so badly. Love potions attract the drinker." Rose said carefully.

"Wait," I said sorting out my thoughts. "I didn't drink the flowers or anything in them, so how could I be cursed?"

"A form of love potion like this one is very tricky and performed wrong, could backfire into extreme confusion." The man said.

"What kind was it then?"

"A powder. You sprinkle it wherever you think the person will smell it. It's most commonly found in flowers or perfumes."

"Oh." I said looking around the empty class room.

"I know it's a shock to you, so take a minute." The man said again.

"Why?" I whispered to myself.

"What's that?" Alice said moving a little closer.

"Why would he do that?" I repeated a little louder now.

"Intoxicate you?" Rose asked.

"He had no motive." Albus explained to Rose.

"Well," she said shrugging her shoulders, "I can't explain it. All we know is that he is is a definite suspect."

There was a long pause before I stood up and looked at the man.

"Who is this, I might ask?" I asked.

"Oh right," Alice said gesturing to him. "This is Mr. Rockwell. He's a potions master in Diagon alley."

Mr. Rockwell removed his pointed hat and bowed to me.

"A pleasure." He said.

"And I you." I stood there awkwardly not knowing how to respond to such a formal greeting.

"Well you can obviously see that we have found some more." Teddy said breaking the silence.

The was Dominique and Albus, but there was also Fred and Roxane.

Roxane was in James' year and the fieriest one of the group, including Domonique, which obviously earned her a spot in Gryffindor. She had fair skin like her mom and brother Fred. Her hair was long, thick and black as night. She was tall and thin and- rushing at me.

"Lily!" She pulled me into a bone-crushing hug. "I was so worried! About all of you as well. I was in the restroom at the time of the attack, so I panicked and stayed in there until I heard silence. Oh Fred, you tell them."

She held me in her arms still, thinking I would run away or something.

Fred pushed his auburn hair back out of his face and stepped forward to tell the tale.

"It was scary," This was a rarity for the word scary to leave his lips. "I was in a back hallway cupboard with this girl, Samantha." With this he smirked really big and nodded his head. "Ya know, I was...talking with her."

Rose rolled her eyes, Roxane snorted, and Teddy coughed.

"Well anyways," Fred continued. "I heard the yelling and screaming and stuff and went to leave. But, Samantha didn't want to leave because she scared, and she wouldn't let me leave her there. I began looking around the cupboard that we were in and realized it had a staircase in it. So we ran up there and guess where it lead us too?"

I shook my head. "Where?"

"The divination class room!"

Maybe it was the potion, but I was lost. I leaned my head in towards him, confused.

"What's so special about the divination class room?" I questioned.

Fred sighed and extended his arms.

"All my life I've been taking the long way to divination, when all this time I could have taken a short cut! Honestly, I feel cheated that no one ever told me that."

Rose stood with her arms crossed, tapping her foot, with an impatient look on her face.

"Anyways." She snapped.

Fred huffed and opened his mouth to continue.

"Well excuse me if I feel some what hurt that no one felt it necessary to tell poor, old Fred about the short cut. Mean while he's lugging hundreds upon hundreds of books to each class-"

Rose's face was like stone when she said flatly, "You take the minimum of 8 classes."

"And how many do you take?" He said accusingly.

Rose lifted up her chin and said proudly. "Fourteen."

Fred made a sour face and tutted disapprovingly.

"Not fifteen?"

Rose glared at him and shouted tartly.

"I would if they let me!"

"Why won't they let you?" Alice asked softly, no sarcasm in her voice.

James and Albus groaned at the question.

"Don't start," James warned. "she never finish."

"You know what?" Rose said nodding her head and scowling.

"What?" James shot back.

"You don't have to listen."

"Oh no," James said sarcastically. "I have to listen."

"Why?"

"Because there will be a quiz at the end."

"James Potter you better-" Rose threatened.

"I better what?" He said stepping forward.

Teddy stepped between them.

"Better back off James." Roxanne said teasingly. "Last time Teddy got between one of your fights you ended up in the hospital wing."

"Roxy," Teddy said cooly. "Please don't make it worse."

"In a minute Teddy I'm gonna-" she muttered under her breath.

Rose and James both pulled out their wands and aimed them at each other at the exact same moment. They had never hurt one another with magic, but there is always a first. Teddy pulled his out of instinct. Alice, Mr. Rockwell, Al, Victoure, and Dominique all pulled out their wands as well. Each pointing at someone. Silence fell over us.

"Should I finish my story or what?" Fred said breaking the silence between Rosie, James, and Teddy.

"Fred! Not the time!" Victoure growled.

"When's the time then? I want to mark my calendar." He said sarcastically.

"Give me a minute and I'll show you where to mark it. You can mark it right up your-"

"Vicky!" I interrupted, now pulling out my wand and pouting it straight at Mr. Rockwell, who was suspicious to me. I don't know if it was his odd meeting with me or the fact that he has stayed oddly quiet.

"Now let's all just be calm." The voice made the whole room jump around, as it didn't belong to anyone here.
